http://i43.tinypic.com/21j23bd.gifA woman armed with a kitchen knife scuffled with, then stabbed, a would-be burglar who happened to be a former boyfriend.
Samuel Whitaker, 41, Chicago, was arrested and tentatively charged with domestic criminal damage to property, domestic criminal trespass to a dwelling and domestic disorderly conduct, and also suffered a small cut to his upper arm.
The stabbing happened about 5 a.m. Sunday in an apartment on the city's southwest side.
Madison police said the woman, in her 30s, thought a burglar was coming in through a window, so she armed herself with the kitchen knife.
"She confronted the intruder," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain. "There was a scuffle and he was stabbed in the arm. The woman then realized it was not a burglar but a former boyfriend."http://www.madison.com/tct/news/447786
I wonder how they decide the charges with "domestic" added on the front? Recent break up? He was trying to woo her back? Are the penalties different?
