Paul R. Hurlock, 39, is accused of duct-taping a 100-foot garden hose to the exhaust tailpipe of his former girlfriend’s Ford Expedition and then running the hose up through a second-floor window with the SUV’s engine running.
Bucks County authorities said Harpers Crossing Apartment tenant Randi Stewart, 36, and her 16-year-old daughter were exposed to the toxic gas for nearly half an hour early Thursday and would surely be dead if an alert neighbor didn’t make an emergency phone call.
The neighbor suspected something strange was going on and called the complex’s maintenance person, who called 911. Township police said they arrived about 3:20 a.m. and noticed the murderous hose setup.
Cops banged on the door, receiving no response. The maintenance man unlocked the door to let Officers Robert Weber and William Gredone into the apartment. Police said the officers then bumped into Stewart and her daughter, who were both awakened by the noise.
Detective Andrew Amoroso said the victims “were feeling a little woozy.” The mom and her juvenile daughter were treated at the scene and then rushed to Saint Mary Medical Center, where they were later released.
Police said they received probable cause to issue a warrant for Hurlock’s arrest. He faces charges of criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault, risking catastrophe and recklessly endangering another person, police said.
Hurlock and Stewart were involved in a romantic relationship about four years ago, but they ended the relationship and became just friends when Stewart discovered that Hurlock got involved with a Jersey girl, police said.
Hurlock used to live with Stewart at the Harpers Crossing apartment — as a roommate. He has an address listed on the 100 block of Green Street in Hulmeville. He drives a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon and was socializing with Stewart at the apartment hours before the attempted murder, cops said.
Police yesterday showed video footage of Hurlock allegedly buying duct tape and a garden hose Wednesday from the Home Depot off of Oxford Valley Road in Falls. If you have info on Hurlock’s whereabouts, call Middletown Township police at (215) 750-3845.

Fuck a duck I can't believe this twisted asshole. I'm glad there was a concerned neighbor who called the police and got them out in time. I hope mom & daughter continue to recover. I hope they catch this twisted fuck.
