Jason Ryan Damos / Woman hugs her daughter after the car the girl was in was stopped by police.A man is accused of driving drunk and leading police on a short chase in north Portland after a hit-and-run crash Saturday – all the while his two small children were in the back seat.
Police eventually stopped the man by getting him to spin out, in what is called a “pit maneuver.”
Police only realized the children, ages 3 and 4, were in the car after they got the vehicle to stop. The children were not injured, police said.
A police sergeant on the scene described the driver as “beyond intoxicated.”
When the children’s mother arrived, she ran to the car to make sure they were OK, hugging them tight.
The mother later told police her husband had recently spent time in the Clark County jail on drunken driving and domestic abuse charges.
It was not immediately clear where the father was going on Saturday or where his drunken ride began. There were reports of his vehicle hitting several moving cars, but police on Saturday were only able to definitively connect him to a single hit and run. No one was injured, however.
Jason Ryan Damos, 34, was booked into the Multnomah County jail on reckless endangerment, hit and run, felony elude and drunken driving charges, police said.Video at link: http://www.katu.com/news/local/43233477.html
I wonder if this is his "bottom" or if he needs a greater wake-up call. I hope mom is smart enough to keep the kids out of this clowns hands. Obviously the first time didn't do it...
