An 8-year-old girl drawing with chalk on a tree in her Zephyrhills backyard at 6 p.m. Friday was grabbed by a drunken man who told her she was beautiful, according to a report from the Zephyrhills Police Department.

The man also accosted an 11-year-old, also playing in the backyard, which is communal to half a dozen duplexes on Ridge Street in Zephyrhills.

Witnesses told police they saw Carmen A. Benavideslizama, 25, of Zephyrhills with the girls. When questioned by officers, he admitted he told them they were "bonita," the report states.

He is charged with kidnapping and two counts of battery. He is being held at the county jail in lieu of $50,300 bail.
