That kind of pain has visited Margaret Hoopes' life too often, she said, most recently on March 18, 2006, when her daughter Lisa was stabbed, beaten and bludgeoned with a hammer by three people in a one-bedroom apartment in Gloucester City.
"I had seven children and I have three left," she said yesterday.
On Thursday, one of the killers, John Creamer, was convicted of aggravated manslaughter in Camden County Superior Court for his role Lisa Hoopes' death.
Creamer, 43, of Burlington Street, told authorities that he stomped on Hoopes' head after Pennsauken Township residents Karen Sluzalis and Brian Springer struck her in the head with a bottle, then kicked, punched and stabbed her for allegedly stealing money from the group.
Sluzalis, 43, and Springer, 46, are charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, hindering an apprehension and numerous weapons offenses. Their trials are not yet scheduled.
Creamer also told investigators he put Hoopes "out of her misery," comparing his role in the incident to the time he stomped on an "injured bird."
If he was concerned, Creamer could have called an ambulance, Margaret Hoopes, 74, said. Instead, Creamer called police two days later and said "something bad" had happened in his blood-stained apartment, authorities said.
"They put her through hell in there," Hoopes said.
Margaret Hoopes has lost children to suicide, a drug overdose and a car accident, and Lisa, 43, had struggled with drug addiction herself long before her brutal death.
Lisa Hoopes was also a mother, and her two daughters, both in their early 20s, now live in pain, too, Margaret Hoopes said.
"The youngest one is the basket case and the other one holds it all in," she said.
Creamer will be sentenced on June 5 and could face life in prison. *

I wish this fucking son of a ugly bitch could get the death penalty which I think he so deserves. He is know better than the other two for watching and letting what happened to Lisa. Also he didn't even call the police until two days later fuck him. So I pray he gets life in prison.
