FAYETTEVILLE, AK - A Fayetteville man was arrested Friday in connection with the physical abuse of a three month-old baby girl.

Rodney L. Crosby, 26, of 2080 N. Chestnut in Fayetteville was arrested after Northwest Medical Center-Springdale called police for a report of a child with skull fracture and cranial bleeding. Crosby is the boyfriend of the child's mother and is facing four counts of felony first degree battery, said Sgt. Shannon Gabbard, public information officer with Fayetteville Police Department.

The mother actually LIED to hospital officials about how the baby got hurt to cover up for him. I don't know why. He looks like someone shaved the Geico caveman. His face is all kinds of busted.

Crosby gets 75 years after pleading guilty to abuse

A Fayetteville man faces 75 years in prison after pleading guilty on Wednesday to slamming a 3-month-old infant against a wall hard enough to crack Sheetrock.

Rodney Lee Crosby, 26, pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree battery and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

He was sentenced by 4 th Judicial Circuit Judge William Storey to a total of 30 years on each count of battery with 15 years of the sentence suspended on one of the counts. The sentences run consecutively.

He was also sentenced to 72 months on the endangering charge, but this sentence will run concurrent with sentencing on the other charges.

Esther Margaret Easter, 25, the baby's mother, pleaded guilty to permitting child abuse. She will reportedly be sentenced at a later date. Easter indicated on her plea questionnaire that prosecutors have indicated they plan to seek probation.

Mieka Hatcher, the 4 th Judicial District deputy prosecutor for the cases, could not be reached for comment Wednesday afternoon about these two negotiated pleas.

Crosby is accused of slamming the baby into a wall and the floor, shoving the infant's head through a wall, causing multiple fractures, and giving the baby alcohol.

He confessed to slamming the child against a wall "hard enough to crack sheet rock and make a hole the size of a baby," according to the arrest report.

He admitted to covering the hole with a poster of a dragon to conceal the damage. He told police that he had been violent with the child as many as four times in the prior month and admitted giving the baby whiskey and cola to get her to stop crying, according to the arrest report.

Easter is accused of not reporting abuse of her daughter to police.

Police responded to the Northwest Medical Center in Springdale on the morning of Feb. 22 to a report of a child with a skull fracture and cranial bleeding.

Fayetteville police on Feb. 23 received a report indicating that a baby was being treated at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock. The child was described as having multiple skull and rib fractures, as well as bruises to her throat and other areas.

Hmm I agree with that gentlman... you are a dirty piece of SHIT!!!!!!!!!! Why and how could you let Rodney do all those things to Katana?? I can only think of two reasons, you let him use her as his punching bag, so he wouldn't abuse you, or two you really don't give a fuck about Katana. Or three you take both of those reasons combined. I hope you rot in jail, because you are just as bad(giving her alcohol) ,as that sorry low life piece of shit Rodney. A Fayetteville woman must serve 10 years probation for not reporting that the father of her 3-month old daughter slammed the child against a wall hard enough to crack sheetrock.

Esther Margaret Easter, 25, pleaded guilty to permitting child abuse on May 28, but sentencing was delayed until Friday.

Easter, who is pregnant, is required to remain in the Washington County Detention Center until she can be placed at the Hannah House in Fort Smith on Sept. 2.

Hannah House is a residential facility for pregnant and troubled young women who are currently facing a crisis in their lives. The house provides a structured program for each woman, including the practical aspects of living, counseling, spiritual help, education and career guidance, according to its Web site.

Easter must stay at Hannah House and follow all the rules for at least one year and complete parenting classes. She must also pay fines and costs to the court. She has been in jail since Feb. 25.

The child that was injured remains in the custody of the Arkansas Department of Human Services, said Mieka Hatcher, 4 th Judicial District deputy prosecutor.
