Involuntary? This always pisses me off when the parents get drunk or high and do stupid shit like this. Eight years is not enough and it won't cure stupidity.

Daitan held on for 5 months. That is a longtime for this baby to suffer. R.I.P. Daitan Quiver.

A 24-year-old Pine Ridge man acknowledges he passed out on top of an infant who later died from brain damage.

Ferris Brings Plenty pleaded guilty in Rapid City federal court to involuntary manslaughter, which carries a maximum punishment of eight years in prison.

According to a factual basis statement that Brings Plenty signed, he was drunk on Sept. 11 at a relative's home in Pine Ridge and laid down on a couch where Daitan Quiver already was lying.

The document says the baby boy was unable to breathe, suffered brain damage and died five months later on Feb. 22.

Ugh. The thought of that poor baby struggling to breathe and escape from under this drunken tard is so heartbreaking. How old was the baby? And for him to cling to life for 5 months before finally dying.... so very sad.

I hope this prick is so consumed by guilt that he offs himself as soon as possible. Its not exactly rocket science to not sleep with your baby if you are drunk. Fuckwit.

The first thing that comes to mind, is Daitan Quiver suffered. I'm not sure how young this baby was, couldn't find a listing with that info, but in his short life he knew far too much pain.

I do not know how it is baby Daitan survived this incident but to live and suffer is just not right.

I pray you are now at peace little one....you deserved a life without constant misery.

Big clue that it is an Indian name is that it is in Federal court. Also a good deal that it is in Federal court because they don't have parole. An 8 year sentence in state court could mean 4 years in real time... less depending on how long it takes to go to trial.

The Pine Ridge Reservation has a rich and violent history. It was the home of Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse. There was a lot of violence there in the 70's (God, I feel old!).
