In Brownsville, police are searching for a man who attacked his wife with a two by four piece of wood.
According to police 28 year-old David Bustos kicked open the front door to his house and started arguing with his wife. His 26-year-old wife called police Wednesday morning and accused her husband of brutally beating her with a 2-by-4, Rodriguez said. It is the policy of The Brownsville Herald not to publish the names of domestic violence victims.
The assault took place on Tuesday night when Bustos arrived home in the 300 block of Herlinda St. in an intoxicated state (http://www.brownsvilleherald.com/sections/valley-and-state/) and accused his wife of looking at another man, police said.
"Fearing for her safety she locked the door, but he kicked it open," Rodriguez said. "He began punching her in the face as she tried to protect herself. He then used a 2-by-4 piece of lumber and struck her in the face."
The woman used her arms to protect her head while the husband repeatedly swung the piece of wood at her causing a severe gash on her head, a broken left arm and bruising, police said.
That night the victim went to a Matamoros clinic for treatment and upon her return to Brownsville she called police, Rodriguez said.
"It's not the first time there's been violence in this household," the spokesman said.
