Details on a murder attempted suicide on the city's north side.
Investigators say Ashley Nicole Fimbrez died from a single gunshot wound to the head.
They say Robert Gardea Ruiz shot her, then turned the gun on himself.
Monday night he was in serious condition. How come these fuckers never get the suicide part right?

“Around 3:00pm on Saturday March 28, 2009 Ashley went shopping with one of her best friends during this time she called Robert and he went to meet up with her and her best friend.

When he got there her best friend privately asked Ashley if there was anything going on between her and Robert and Ashley responded "no". Her friend then asked if anything had ever happened between her and Robert and Ashley responded " No, it's not like that, we're just really good friends".

The last time any of us saw Ashley alive and well was at 4:30pm that day when she got into Robert's red jaguar with him and drove away from her best friend. This is not a crime of passion or a domestic violence case. Ashley did not live with her attacker nor was she romantically involved with him.

She was a single mom living alone with her 3 year-old daughter in her own home on the far sw side of Tucson off of Valencia and Vahalla. Ashley was extremely intelligent and hard-working. She had 2 jobs, owned her own home, and was a student and pursuing her degree at Pima Community College.

In her short 23 years she accomplished so much. The images of her on her Myspace were just a fraction of who she was. She was young, beautiful, happy, and full of life. She was only 23 years old and of course she was enjoying her youth.
Anyone who was privileged or blessed enough to know Ashley will tell you, she was amazing. Mere words could never do her justice. As beautiful as she was on the outside she was a trillion times more beautiful on the inside. Ashley was a beautiful, gentle, caring, proud, happy, loving mother, daughter, sister, cousin, niece, Nina, and grand-daughter. She was an angel and that is why I believe he couldn't live with himself after what he did to her.

He did hurt her, he attacked and murdered her. I saw her body and the trauma and damage he did to her that night, and the evidence of her struggle. The image of her bruised, beaten, and battered body will haunt me forever and I pray for anyone who should ever have to see their loved one in that condition.

There may be questions still but what the authorities are certain of, is that Robert Gardea Ruiz was the shooter. He shot and killed Ashley and then shot himself. .

The discussion on the above says that they were just friends and some say Ruiz was a drug dealer(hers, too)!!! Sounds like her friends are letting those folks bashing Ashley have it!! 23 years old, a young mother of a 4 year old, beautiful woman, had life by the horns and making a life for herself and her daughter, dadgum it, this makes me angry, it's so outrageous and for what??

Ruiz deserves to burn in hell......

So do not ever wonder or speculate on what Ashley did, or whether Ashley did anything wrong that night. The only thing she did wrong that night was trust a monster who she thought was her friend. She was brutally attacked, fought for her life, and was mudered that night in that upstairs bedroom while atleast nine other people were somewhere in that house.

Please understand our families frustration and sorrow at this time. All we ask is that you please keep your comments to yourself because they can be very hurtful to a family that is devastated, suffering, grieving, and has lost a very dear precious and beautiful loved one at the hands of a monster. Ashley did not deserve to be attacked, hurt, suffer, or be killed that night. PERIOD.

If you take any message away from our family's tragedy I only pray that it would be a lesson. There are monsters in this world. Never be to trusting. Always be careful, there is evil lurking and we have to take care of ourselves and eachother. Tell your family and your loved ones you love them everyday and love each other as if there is no tomorrow.

On the morning of Friday April 3rd 2009 our family gathered to see and say goodbye to our beautiful butterfly Ashley Nicole Fimbrez. Ashley will live on forever in our hearts and memories. We love you Ashley!
