I have to know if anyone else on here is totally addicted to Oblivion on the PS3. I know I rented the game from work on a total fluke (not knowing what to expect, other than I had one of my regulars tell me it was fun) and .... holy shit.
Holy shit this is the coolest game I think I've ever played. I can sit in front of it and before I know it two or three hours have passed by. Today, I became infected with the Vampire Virus and had fun breaking into peoples houses and feeding off them. I've gotten completely sidetracked from the main mission (I don't even remember what I was supposed to be doing) and have just broken off into doing my own thing.
My character was the Reptilian guy whom I named "Cloverfield" (yes, I named my character Cloverfield) and I've basically said fuck you to the main mission, I'm having more fun doing the Dark Brotherhood stuff, and now being a Vampire. I'm sure I'll eventually go back and find that stupid amulet of the kings, but first I feel like I must buy a house. :D
This game is great.

I loved the game, but I played it on the PC. I did exactly what you are doing, wandered off the main quest and starting doing all the evil shit. I eventually got back around to completing the main story, but for me, the main plot wasn't nearly as interesting as some of the side-quests.
Completing all of the Shrine quests was the most difficult, and rewarding for me.

I had Morrowind on the Xbox and I picked up Oblivion on the 360. I LOVE the series. It took me a LONG time to beat Morrowind because I did the exact same thing. I did not even touch the main quest until I finished every side and guild quest.
I have yet to finish Oblivion. I have been doing side quests as well as some of the main quest. I have pretty bad gaming ADD however. That coupled with the fact that I just don't have the time for gaming that I used to makes me wonder when I will finish the game.:D
Do you get the Shivering Isles expansion pack on the PS3? It is like 2,000 live points on the 360, which is money I don't have right now for a game I hardly play. I will get it eventually.

I just beat the main quest about two days ago. I love this game! Now I'm going to focus on exploring every part of the map, seeing what’s out there to find. This game rocks. I've made it up to level 11. How many levels are there anyway?

leveling is a weird thing in this game. your max level is 255 theoretically, but it depends on your skill levels and stats at startup as to how high you can actually get, depending on what your major/minor skills are. also, it is best to try and level efficiently (you get bonus points up to +5 per level to stats in which you use a skill).
also the game scales with your level, so if you get it very high it gets harder, esp if you run that slider up a good bit.

Thanks for the info! I have another question, can you start a new game without loosing your old one? I'd like to create a different type of character, one who pisses people off and steals shit, but I don't want to loose my "hero" character. I'm totally assuming its possible on the PC... but I don't know about the PS3.

long wait but yeah, multipe saves are there. i recommend saving your fisrt save spot for when you get to the grating at the end of the sewers. you can start another game from that spot and do all the character stuff for another character without having to go through the prison and sewers shit again.
also, oblivion is still better on the PC than any other system.

Yea but I don't have a PC that has the ability to run games anymore. It's either PS3 or nothing for me.

I'm starting to think that I'm in the same boat. I keep meaning to upgrade my PC, but I'm gaming less and less, and the PC is getting few quality exclusives. It has been 3 years since I built it, all I've done is add a hard drive in that time, and it could probably serve my needs for another 5 years, minimum.
Might as well save up my $500 videocard money and use it on the next console, and keep my Gamefly account active. I think my next PC purchase will probably be one of these cheapo mini-laptops that are flooding the market right now. You can get an eeePC for $300 that surfs the web, does e-mail, stores my music and comics, etc...

I really want to put together a computer that I can edit video, and watch everything in true HD, complete with a Blu-Ray drive. Unfortunately I'll never have the money for that.
When Duke Nukem: Forever is released, then I'll go update my computer to play games again. So I've got a few (10) years before I need to worry about anything :D
