View Full Version : Thread Title Editing?

Just a suggestion here. Sometimes we post new threads and don't realize that there's a spelling mistake, omitted word, or maybe just want to change the way we phrase things.

I know it would be absolutely ridiculous to allow the user creating the thread to go back and edit it any time, but is there a way you could give us some sort of grace period on editing thread titles?

Like maybe it's still editable for 5 minutes after the thread is created, and then it gets locked?

I'm tired of looking like a dipshit if I create a thread before my morning coffee. :)

Yeah, SJ was kind enough to fix one of mine, but I'm sure she and the other mods have better things to do. It would be nice to have a grace period.

And if it's a really good thread you get to sit there for the next week or so looking at your blunder like a big boil instead of the shiny nickle it has become. How embarrassing.

If you need a title edited, mods can do that. Just send a PM and it'll get taken care of.

You can also report the post - even it it is not your thread - by clicking the "Report Post" icon at the upper right: http://www.dreamindemon.com/forums/images/kirsch/buttons/report.gif and letting us know the problem. Whatever mod is available will then pick it up. (reporting a post is also quite helpful for duplicates)

As for the making it available for change for a certain amount of time, that's a Morbid thing that he'll address if he get's time.

Until and if Morbid changes it, try to avoid posting before the coffee kicks in. LOL Or report yourself.

Mods are: So Jaded, Ruby, Corrupted Mistress, Lizard, Dakota Valkyrie, and Tazzzz. (I think I got 'em all) Grab whoever's around.

Precisely my problem. I just posted what I consider to be a very interesting story, but I accidentally fucked up the title and that's all I can think about now. :)

I'm not going to lose sleep over it, but it is a little embarrassing.

Try this....
If you make a mistake and hit post too quickly, click edit and then advanced edit. That should allow you to fix the title. I think. Maybe. Hell, I don't know....lol. Give it a try sometime and let me know if it works. ;)

Even if it doesn't work, let a mod know. We will usually have it taken care of in a jiffy! And, we don't even flog you the first two times.

That only edits the title on the post NOT the title on the thread.:stupido3:

Best bet is to use "Report Post" because whoever is online can pick it up.

Apparently DV is right. It edits the title of the POST, but the thread is unchanged.

Like I said, I won't lose sleep over it, just thought it'd be a nice addition to the site so we don't have to bug the mods all the time. :)
