It is a scary, scary world out there for some children. Earlier this week, police in Toronto, Ontario, Canada found a three-year old girl who had been abandoned in her home. After much coaxing, the little girl finally opened a side door for police, and they eventually walked her to her school as their cruiser was not equipped with a child seat.
Police have placed her two older siblings with Children's Aid, and though they didn't disclose the reason why the child was left alone or how they found out about her, they have charged (and subsequently released) the mother, and the father has been arrested for assault charges against all three children - ages 3, 6, and 8.
I can't imagine what possible circumstances could lead a mother to abandon her children, but apparently this happens more often than we may realize. In fact, this was the third child in the area to be abandoned in less than a month. I'm sure there are many more stories like this that go unreported to the public.

You bet. We only hear about a fraction of these cases. This shit keeps me up at night.
Fuck these parents. Making their children's world scarier than it already is.
Be happy and safe little ones in better care.

Those poor things. Lord I wish these people who can't/won't take care of their children would stop breeding.
I wonder why the parents were released?

I'm confused about what will happen with the children. The mother has been charged and released and the kids will just go back home to her after school is over? Seems strange that the officers just walked the child to school like it was a normal day.

:motz:I will just never understand why anyone will ever think it is ok to leave a child alone....I just don't get it.

Me either. To think of her being so scared and alone, like Silva says, it's things like these that keep me up at night. Don't these so called parents have any kind of a brain in their heads?? Don't they care at all???

Thats what my though is too. Don't they care? My daughter had fallen asleep in my bed one day and I had gone in the computer room and shut the door so I wouldnt wake her, she woke up frantic because she went through the house and couldn't find me at first. I felt sooooooo terrible having her be so afraid for just that split second....Ya know?

I don't consider her a mother for doing such a horrible thing. Bless this child's heart can you image how scared she must have been.
She looks so cute walking with those officers. I wish I could hug her and tell her everything is going to be alright but who knows. I hope she is going to be with either a family member that will love & care for her properly or another family.
Fuck you mom & dad for abandoning your child!

Hey, come to England, be a doctor, go to Portugal, leave one 3yo and twin 2yo's, go out drinking with your mates. 3yo disappears, be feted by the police and supported by the so called Government. BAH!
Some people just shouldn't have children:crazy:

Jesus fucking Christ. That picture of her walking between the two officers is breaking my heart. I hope she is placed with a family who will make her feel safe, loved and cherished.

Yeah, I'm wondering if new details have come to light that made the news sources yank the story.

well, it looks like it happened in February, I don't know how Canada works on their news info, but it's kinda hard to find out more if there are no names involved.

while looking for the this story, I found this one. I thought it was the one silva posted but it wasn't pulling up. So, I clicked on the cached version of it. It's amazing that this child survived.

OMG! That is horrendous! How could that bitch not tell anyone about her daughter being home alone! Im in awe of that little girl for managing to keep herself alive for so long. Bless her, lying in a baby bath, under a towel! Shit.
As for the child in the original story, I cant beieve they just took her to school either! Unless they were just trying to keep her day as normal as possible before she was placed with CPS? I also find it strange that the article only mentions that her two older siblings were placed with Children's Aid. There is evidence of assault against the kids as well as the abandonment issue, so I hope these kids are removed from this hell-hole of a home and placed somewhere decent!
ALL these parents who leave their kids home alone like this should be locked up for a very LONG time, if not for life then at least until they are incapable of having more kids. And should never get to see the kids they abandoned ever again.

Sorry Liz, I meant to include resource link as it was attached earlier... I should have just posted original source only. Sorry, my bad, I know better than that. Can't find it anywhere. I guess just pull it if needed.

"I am a 240-pound man and I can't keep from crying," he told the newspaper. "I can't even imagine how hungry she must have been."
When a manager let him into the apartment Monday, the girl was lying in a baby's bathtub, covered with a towel and was watching cartoons. She was filthy and covered with dry ketchup, he said.
“She grabbed me and wouldn't let go of me,” Lee said. “It is really a miracle how good a shape my daughter is in. I don't know how she did it.”
Aww... what a strong little girl!!
Too bad she has such a pathetic excuse for a mom.
