Thomas Gatewood, Brandy Gatewood

A Bartlesville couple reportedly wanted out of Minneapolis, Minn., in connection with the death of a child, are being held on half a million dollars bond each in a local child abuse complaint.

Thomas Ross Gatewood, 37, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of child abuse. Additionally, Brandy Elaine Gatewood, 26, was arrested on a charge of enabling child abuse.

According to police, the Gatewoods are wanted in Minnesota in relation to the death of their child in June 2006. Minneapolis police report that the child had died of Meningitis but had not been taken to the doctor prior to his death. Reportedly, when the medical examiner looked at the child, it was discovered that he had bruises, skull fractures and cracked or fractured ribs at the time of death.

At that time, police made contact with local child welfare workers who said they had recently received a referral on the couple, saying the pair had not been providing medical care for their children — one who is reported to be a few weeks old and the other 19 months. The report further states that the 19-month-old could not walk or talk and was reportedly held by Thomas Gatewood in the delivery room as Brandy gave birth to the most recent child.

When questioned, Brandy Gatewood reportedly said that the two felt that they “do not want to hide anything from their child and they felt it was important that they don’t keep secrets from their child.” Huh?

Child welfare workers then immediately took custody of the children and, after an examination was conducted, found there were “multiple bruises that appeared to differ in the age of the bruise” on the older child. These were described as “looping type bruises” on the back side of the left leg that appeared to wrap around and bruising to the right leg. Police said the bruise on the right appeared to “look like a hand print.” Two more bruises were allegedly found in the small of the back as well as “small red dots on the exterior part of the left and the right eyes.”

When asked about the injuries, Brandy Gatewood reportedly said that the child fell off of the couch a lot. She further said she did not take her child in for medical care because she did not “think the injuries were that bad” and that doctors always “suspect” abuse, reports show.

When questioned, Thomas “admitted to being the person who caused the bruises on the 19-month-old,” according to reports. He reportedly said he did this because “she was playing with papers and tearing them up and messing with the newborn.”

A records check later revealed that Thomas had prior arrests in Kansas for five counts of battery, one count of aggravated battery, aggravated assault and criminal damage to property. He's a keeper.

They look like it's a pain that they're actually being arrested for killing their child.

Went looking to see if i could find anything about the MN case and ran across this:...
A Minneapolis homicide detective called Bartlesville police in mid-March while investigating the 2006 death of the Gatewoods’ child.

...
Holthusen said police photos of the toddler show injuries similar to those found in the Minnesota case, the affidavit stated. He noted the Gatewoods gave their new baby the same name as the child who died in Minneapolis.

...
She said she did not seek medical aid for the girl because she did not think the girl was hurt "that bad.”

"Brandy made the comment that the doctors always suspect abuse and she protects her children,” the affidavit stated.

They gave the baby the same name? That's beyond creepy to me...

If what is happening is her "protection" of her kids, I shudder to think what would happen if she didn't.

Liar Liar pants on fire! She didn't take her child to the Dr. because the Dr. knows best and she knew there was abuse. Lying Cunt!

Definitely creepy and doubly creepy that the child has the same type of injuries as the one who died in MN. I wonder about the cause of the child's developmental delays. I hope these little ones are in a good home now and never go back to these idiots.

He looks creepy weird. She looks obvlious.

It certainly was bad luck for the baby. The only thing the mother valued was her penis.
