An Allen County man was charged with child molesting Friday, accused of kissing a 6-year-old girl and offering to pay her for a sex act.
John A. Howell, 52, of Spencerville, awakened the girl and kissed her when she was staying at his home in December, according to a probable cause affidavit.
He then offered to give her 75 cents if she performed a sex act on him, the documents said.
When police interviewed him, he said he was so drunk on the night in question, he has no memory of what happened. He did not, however, deny the allegations, the affidavit said.
He was charged with child molesting and child solicitation.
Howell was released from Allen County lockup Saturday on $12,500 bail.http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20090405/LOCAL07/304059864/-1/LOCAL11

That's no fucking excuse for what he did! He's a fucking piece of shit and a fucking pervert! I'm so sick of these perverts that need to be locked up with the key thrown away.

alcohol didn't make him do it, all it did was simply allow his true nature to shine through... which is a child molesting sack of shit

 @ Pete's comment.
Reminded me of the days I used to trade my baby sister her dimes for my nickels, cause my nickels were "bigger."

So so so true. I know from personal first hand experience unfortunately. When I finally confronted him when I was old enough to think I was brave enough, he said he didn't remember doing anything but appologized deeply. And that has always bothered me more than anything, how do you appologize for something you don't remember?
I do hope she can get past thing and live a long and happy life.

Aw honey, it's because they DO remember. They just figure that alcohol gives them a pass. I have never believed that excuse. I've been pretty damn drunk in my time and have never forgotten a thing that i've done. It's a sorry ass excuse for doing something so heinous................

Eases his conscience I'm sure. It was very infuriating to here though. i'd rather he had not said anything. It just sounds like empty words he felt he was supposed to say.

If you told me I ran over your cat and I didn't know it or didn't remember, I would apologize and mean it. Not knowing or remembering does not make the apology less sincere. But that is all just "normal" stuff apologies. I think there is no apology great enough or heartfelt enough for abusing a child... done under any conditions.
Anyone can have a blackout. it is a function of HOW you drink more than how drunk you got. Even drinking small amounts effects memory but it is usually not noticeable except in controlled conditions. A good paper on it: http://www.duke.edu/~amwhite/Blackouts/index.html (http://www.duke.edu/%7Eamwhite/Blackouts/index.html) Even if you only read the paragraph or two.
A blackout is just an excuse for not remembering... it's not an excuse for the behavior.
We all know there are certain things we will do while drinking that we would never do while sober. Some of it it is fun or embarrassing but most folks still retain their sense of right and wrong when it comes to the important stuff.
