Polk County deputies have tracked down a thief who left a telltale sign at the crime scene: his wallet.
At about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Polk County Sheriff's Office deputies stopped a 2001 blue Dodge Dakota that had been reported stolen in Lakeland the day before. The driver was 25-year-old Randy Sealey, a Lakeland man who was wanted in a robbery that occurred at the Sweetbay Supermarket on Friday.
Deputies said Sealey approached a woman in the grocery store Friday morning and began a conversation. He then followed her to the parking lot, asked for change and snatched her coin purse, deputies said.
As he was fleeing, Sealey dropped his wallet, leaving a driver's license behind, authorities said.
Sealey was arrested and transported to the Polk County Jail. He faces charges of robbery by sudden snatching, driving while license suspended, and grand theft auto.
