VERNON — - A convicted felon on parole was arrested this morning for possessing a shotgun after police were called to his home for a report of a domestic assault.
Vernon police Sgt. William Meier III said police arrived at the apartment at 30 Nye St. about 3:30 a.m. to find Ronald McHenry, 39, locked in the bathroom.
He told police he retreated there because his girlfriend, Tracie LaFond, 34, had bitten him and pushed him to the ground. She told police he had chocked her.
Both were arrested for second-degree breach of peace and third-degree assault.
Police also found a shotgun in the apartment and charged McHenry, who is on parole, with criminal possession of a firearm. He was handed over to parole officials and is being held without bail.
