Brian Round, 17, was arrested Thursday and charged with impersonating a law-enforcement officer. He was released into the care of his sister.

At about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, a woman told police that she was driving on Center Street in Eustis when she noticed a car following her closely.

Someone in the car turned on flashing red and blue lights and a siren, and the woman assumed it was an unmarked police car. She turned onto Osecola Avenue and pulled over, according to an arrest affidavit.

The woman could see several men in the car and saw one of its driver-side doors open and someone begin to get out. She turned on her car's interior light, and the person got back inside and the car sped away, perhaps, she told police, because the light revealed that she had a male passenger.

A short time later, the woman saw the car that had pulled her over parked at a gas station. She took down the plate number, and police were able to trace the car to Round.
But, two of Round's friends who said they were in the car with him at the time of the incident told investigators different stories.

Police then arrested Round and took him to the Eustis Police Department.

There, he denied using the flashing lights, saying he had once had a set of such lights, but they broke when he wrecked his old truck.

Officers videotaped the interrogation, and while the tape was rolling, they let Round use his cell phone.

He made several calls and a Eustis police officer heard him say he "pulled over a girl and was messing with people using his blue, red, and green lights."

The officer also heard Round say that "they couldn't prove anything because none of my friends would rat me out," and that he wasn't trying to impersonate a police officer, "it was just fun and games."
