A woman was so angry with her boyfriend Thursday morning that she chased him with her van as he ran from her, then drove through a fence and hit him near Interstate 4, police said.

Leoninas Williams, 37, flew through the vehicle's windshield, but was able to get up and continue to run.

Deputies said 33-year-old Traci Desaussure, armed with a knife, chased her boyfriend across rush hour traffic and into a median.

Once in the median, Desaussure beat her boyfriend, deputies said.

"By witness accounts, yes, she chased him across I-4 and started fighting with him in the median against the guardrails," said Deputy James Nunn, of the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said Desaussure became enraged when she learned her boyfriend was allegedly having a sexual relationship with an underage girl.

Deputies said the woman called 911 and warned them that she was about to kill her ex-boyfriend.

"I got an emergency," Desaussure said on the 911 call. "I need an officer now. There's gonna be a murder."

Desaussure's ex-boyfriend, Rayfield Campbell, said he witnessed everything.

"He trying to deny it, saying it wasn't true," Campbell said.

Campbell said the couple argued in his front yard, and then Desaussure snapped.

"She started chasing him with the knife, got back in the van, went down the road," he said. "By the time I get down there, I heard a big boom."

Deputies said the "boom" he heard was Williams' body hitting the windshield the mini-van.

"It happened so fast," Campbell said. "I didn't think she was going to hit him with a van."

At that point, police said, Desaussure had hung up with the 911 operator and was holding a knife to Williams.

"He was holding her from stabbing him," Campbell said.

Deputies said she was trying to carve out Williams' heart. Witnesses said they heard Desaussure say that she hoped he was dead.

Williams was flown to Halifax Medical Center and was in serious condition.

Morning traffic was bottle-necked into one lane for a short time, and all eastbound lanes were shut down while a medical helicopter transported the man.

Desaussure is in custody and is facing attempted first-degree murder charges

So was she mad that he was messing around with someone else...

or is she a demonite and was enraged at his pedophile-ness?

It's amazing that all those people were running across the freeway in rush hour traffic and no one got hit. The ex- was in the van with her? And so was the underage girlfriend? Very confusing.

Even the 911 operator was confused!

Judging by some of the comments left on a news article....the girl in question may be Traci's teen-age daughter? And the dude she tried to run over was an ex. Interesting....

I DONT THINK THE MOTHER SHOULD BE CHARGED WITH ANYTHING SHE DID THE RIGHT THING TO HIM FOR MESSING WITH HIS SO CALLED STEP-DAUGHTER WITCH HE SHOULD OF BEEN A BETTER MAN INSTEAD OF MESSING WITH A CHILD HE SHOULD OF BEEN MESSING WITH A WOMAN HIS AGE INSTEAD OF A YOUNG TEEN.HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOUR HUSBAND WAS MESSING WITH YOUR CHILD???

it's sad he didn't take the role of serogate dad sereously.in her eyes that was the worst betrayal of all. she defended her child the way a lion defends her cubs however she should of just tossed his clothes out. as for him i hope he recovers so she doesn't go to jail.

I can understand the hate for this guy if he did sleep with the 17 year old daughter but that dosnt give the right to kill him. If we killed everyone who did this there would be alot of killings going on. She will not get off on this she will be charged with attempted murder and he will be charged with rape of a minor im sure.

Where's the story about him sleeping with her 17 year old daughter? I didn't see that one.

That man is very lucky he's alive. I would have killed him and gone to jail if he had slept with my 17-year old daughter!

Desaussure and Williams, her boyfriend, were arguing over the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old, the affidavit states.

Wow. If it was her daughter her ex- was messing with, I can understand her rage. I'm just sorry for the daughter that all this played out so publicly.

Maybe they should make Traci Desaussure the new director of the Florida DCFS. :-)

They must believe she's telling the truth and it's her daughter or why else would they have released her on her own recognizance?

A woman accused of trying to kill her boyfriend is now a free person. Traci Desaussure, 33, walked out of the Volusia County Jail after a judge released her on her own recognizance.

Reports vary on the age of the girl...some say 17, a couple say 13, and quite a few say she's 16...I went with that.

The story is a little more put together on the front page. He wasn't actually an ex...well, he is now...but he was her current boyfriend.

They released her on PR because they felt she wasn't a risk to society in general...just a risk to Williams, who remains hospitalized. The child in question ran away after the arrest and Traci wanted to be included in the search for the child. Relatives say the girl is safe at a friends house.
