A 15-year-old boy was charged today for killing his grandmother in Belleville.
Onyx N. Large IV, of Belleville, was charged with first degree murder. Bail was set in the amount of $5 million. The boy remains in the St. Clair County Juvenile Detention Center.
Police say the teen stabbed Georgie "Polly" Large, 68, shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday in her home in the 4200 block of Jessie Street. Neighbors reportedly saw Onyx Large flee the scene. They said they had heard his grandmother yelling at him shortly before the incident.
Inside the home, a neighbor reportedly saw the elderly woman stabbed at least three times.
The suspect attended Belleville West High School

On Saturday afternoon, Belleville police were called to the 4200 block of Jesse Street in reference to a woman in distress from a medical condition. Police found 68-year-old George "Polly" Large had been stabbed; she later died as a result of her injuries.
Investigators determined Large stabbed his grandmother and took him into custody that evening.
