A Coon Rapids, Minn., woman upset about not having a ride to the Twin Cities threatened another woman and her two children with a 9-inch kitchen knife Friday afternoon, the Winona County Sheriff’s Department reported.
No one was injured in the incident, but the victims reported being “extremely afraid,” sheriff’s department investigator Kraig Glover said.
Mary Latrice Branch, 22, was arrested and referred to the county attorney’s office for charges of misdemeanor assault and felony terroristic threats.
Glover said he will ask the county attorney to enhance the assault charge to a felony because a knife was involved.
According to police reports, Branch arranged to get a ride from a 34-year-old Wilson, Minn., woman and gave her $17 to cover some of the expenses, but the woman’s car broke down before the trip began. The woman returned the $17, but Branch became upset, pulled out a 9-inch kitchen knife about 12:20 p.m. Friday and threatened to kill the woman, her 9-year-old son and her 10-year-old daughter, police said.
Glover said Branch was about 20 feet away from the woman and her kids, so they were able to flee their apartment complex. He said Branch continued to harass the family and as they tried to leave the scene in a van. Branch opened one of the van’s doors and continued to threaten them with the knife.
Deputies arrived and arrested Branch, who remains in custody in the Winona County Jail.
She is expected to make a court appearance today, Glover said.

Damn, the woman couldn't help it her car broke down, so WTF this woman goes fucking nuts and threatens her and her kids with a knife. I don't think so her ass needs to settle down and be locked up with other felons that will kick her damn ass.
