A Dunn woman arrested for shoplifting at Wal-Mart in Smithfield was given additional charges after she attempted to ingest meth on the way to jail.
Brandy Marie Corzette, 31, of Lee's Chapel Road was arrested by Smithfield Police after Wal-Mart loss prevention officers detained her for allegedly shoplifting four DVD's.
While on the way to the Johnston County Jail, an officer reportedly noticed Ms. Corzette chewing on something. When the officer made Ms. Corzette remove the item, she discovered it was a small plastic bag containing methamphetamine.
In addition to a misdemeanor shoplifting charge, Ms. Corzette was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. She was held at the jail under $16,500 bond.
