Richard Cox Sorry Prick
WESTWOOD - A 29-year-old Westwood man has been charged with child endangering after Cincinnati police said he let his newborn baby fall off his bed because he didn't want to miss a TV show.
Richard Cox was sitting at one end of his bed watching TV Dec. 2 while his 4-month-old daughter cried at the other end, records state. Police said he admitted seeing the baby move close to the edge of the bed and knew she was going to fall.
But he didn't want to get up and move her because he didn't want to miss "a good part" on the program he was watching, police wrote in court records.
The baby fell from the bed and hit her head on the baseboard floor heater, records state.
After Cox had difficulty calming the baby, police said he tried to soothe her with a warm bath. While he was pulling her from the bath water, police said he dropped her in the bathtub.
When the baby's mother returned home, Cox allegedly neglected to tell her about the two incidents. The next day, the baby's head was swollen and the mother took her to the emergency room at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
Doctors determined the baby had a head fracture. The baby was admitted and released the following day.
Cox was arrested last Thursday and is held on $100,000 bond at the Hamilton County jail. He had a court appearance scheduled for Monday afternoon.
