THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. -- A local family is desperate for answers after a single mother disappeared from her home, leaving few clues behind.

Nancy Moyer, 36, was last seen on Friday after she finished up her workday at the state Department of Ecology in Olympia. She dropped off a co-worker on her way to her Tenino home.

Then came Sunday, March 8th, when her family realized she was missing.

Bill Moyer separated from his wife two years ago. But on Sunday he routinely drops off their daughters, ages 10 and 11, at their mother's.

When Bill came over with the girls, almost everything appeared to be in place. The light was on as was the TV. Nancy's purse and keys were inside. Her car was parked out front.

The only thing missing was Nancy, who was nowhere to be found.

On Thursday detectives combed her home and car for clues. They found no evidence of a break-in or a struggle, and investigators found little to go on.

"It's very suspicious, a lot of red flags on this," said Lt. Chris Mealy. "We don't know if we have a potential crime or if she just walked away voluntarily and she's going to come back shortly. We just don't know."

Family members said they're not sure what to think, but they don't believe Nancy simply went off on her own, especially since she was expecting her girls.

They said they didn't know of anyone new in Nancy's life, and that she had no drug problems or mental issues that might explain her disappearance.

"Right now, I don't think its fully sunk in how serious this could be," said sister Sharon Wilbur.

The family is offering a $55,000 reward for the safe return of Nancy Moyer. They've hung up posters all around town.

At this point, I don't think Nancy walked away of her own free will.

Bill Moyer said it was out of character for his wife to not be home when he showed up to drop off their children between 4:30 and 5 p.m. Sunday.

Bill and Nancy Moyer are separated and share custody of daughters Samantha, 9, and Amanda, 11.

[...]
Moyer's disappearance is considered suspicious, given that she has not gone missing before and has no known medical, mental-health or substance-abuse issues, Thurston County Sheriff's Lt. Chris Mealy said.

Sheriff's detective Dave Haller is leading the investigation into her disappearance, Mealy said.

"The big red flag is, we don't have any big red flags," Mealy said. "It's like she just walked away, but that's not in her character."

Detectives searched Moyer's home. Items found at her home suggest she wasn't leaving home for a trip; no bags, toiletries or clothing appear to be missing, Mealy said.

Bill Moyer said that when he showed up to drop the children off at her home in the 700 block of state Route 507, the front door was ajar. Inside, the television was on and a glass of red wine was placed on a coffee table in the living room.

Nancy's pack of cigarettes, a lighter and an ashtray were all outside on the front porch, where she smokes to keep the smell of cigarettes from her children, Bill Moyer said.

Moyer's purse, containing her wallet and identification, as well as her credit cards, were inside the home. Her white Honda was parked outside, across from the railroad tracks.

[...]
The couple has been separated for about two years. Sheriff's detectives and friends say the separation was amicable.

[...]
Moyer did not own a cell phone, her husband said. That takes away another means detectives could use in determining her whereabouts.

Mealy said that detectives have searched her home and got a search warrant to look at her bank account. "We checked her financials. From what we could determine, there's been no activity after Friday (March 6)," Mealy said.

There were no signs of a struggle at Moyer's home, Mealy said.

[...]
Vandrush said that she would never willingly be absent from her daughters' lives.

"There's absolutely no way," he said. "She would do anything for those kids."

Moyer and her husband had "an amazingly smooth relationship" despite their separation, Vandrush added.

Since the kids were with the dad, he is probably easy to rule in or out. I wonder if some weirdo just drove by and snatched her?

Or perhaps a rail rider hopped off for a little kidnapping? The article said she lived near train tracks.

I don't think dad did it and I definitely don't think she just walked off. Hopefully they find her soon.

I am going to have to agree with Dakota on this one. It sounds like she had poured herself a glass of wine to relax after a long day and watch tv, but decided to smoke a cigarette outside (because that was normal) and some weirdo creeper was driving by and decided to take her...it's sad. I hope that she is safe and unharmed so that she can return safely to her children.

A big part of the frustration for those trying to find Nancy Moyer is the area in which they're searching. It's an extremely rural area of Thurston County, with trails and roads that lead to all sorts of different places, the searchers say.

"There's a reservoir, Thompson Creek Road, which has lots of offshoots, Johnson Creek Road with the same thing," says Anni Smith. "It's very rural, very private - almost too overwhelming to think of the places where you could hide something."

Some say the search has been hindered because the initial police response to her disappearance has been slow.

On Sunday, the Thurston County Sheriff's Department will probe the area near her house with bloodhounds.

OLYMPIA — The Thurston County sheriff's office says the husband of a missing Tenino woman is not a suspect in her disappearance.

Lt. Chris Mealy told The Olympian that Bill Moyer passed a polygraph test and has been cooperating with investigators looking for Nancy Moyer.

I was just looking for info on Nancy..came back and saw an update, I thought for sure they found something by now! I guess I'm having a little trouble trying to find some logic in this one. Hubby passed a poly, Nancy (according to family) wouldn't just up & leave her kids...so what gives? It's as if she up and disappeared into thin air. It doesn't look good, it's been too long but I really hope she is found alright.
