A 17-year-old Windsor girl was hospitalized late Friday after her boyfriend struck her with a car during an argument in Sebastopol, police said.
Police arrested the boyfriend, Devin Patrick Dwyer, 18, of Santa Rosa, on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse, possession of a dangerous weapon and domestic battery.
Officers initially responded about 8:20 p.m. to a call of a pedestrian who’d been struck with a car along Highway 116 near Lynch Road, Officer David Ginn said.
Officers learned the pedestrian, the teen girl, had been in a fight with her boyfriend while in the car. She made him pull over to the side of the road, where she got out of the car, Ginn said.
As she walked south along the road on the sidewalk, Dwyer ran into her, Ginn said.
The girl, whose name was withheld by police, was hospitalized. Ginn said she was in stable condition, but would need surgery for her injuries.
