What does the following chart show? First of all, the Wii has shit games. 3rd party developers have yet to deliver a compelling game, leaving you with 4 or 5 Nintendo games to keep you occupied.
It also shows that the old complaint about the PS3, no games, might not be such a bad thing. Maybe having a dozen top games is better than a hundred bargain bin choices?
I wish the handhelds had been included.

That is a lot of Wii's gathering dust. What comes out after Brawl? An Animal Crossing and a Mario Cart? This from the console that offers us something "new".

While I agree the Wii has shit games, I really wish they would have included the numbers in the chart.
Seriously, nothing worse than going to a site and sorting items by their rating (Amazon, Newegg, All Recipes, Downloadable Mods) as the top tier are for products that have only 1 or 2, 4 star reviews. If they counted 15 games from the PS3 and 100 from any of the others, that is a mighty useless chart for anything aside from a "look at this" perspective. Given another few years, and an expanding game library for the PS3, the Gamecube will be the top dog in that chart. :)
By that chart, the PS3 would come out on top if it had ONE 4 star game compared to the library of all the others. The only thing that chart shows me is that the PS2, the oldest console in the bunch and with the most games (probably of all the other consoles put together) is still the reigning champ of consoles.
Besides, swivel, they have the second console with the top reviewed games as the Gamecube. I don't dispute that, but we all know that they had NO games. If anything, it shows that the Gamecube was a better product for good gaming than the Wii is and just how powerful a good advertising program can be.

Yeah, I thought I was clear that this is not an inidicator of "which console is best", but "which console has the best ratio of fun/shit".
The PS3 benefits from having all the 2nd-year cross-platform games (Rockband, Guitar Hero, Assassins Creed, UT3, Call of Duty 4, Turok, Skate, the sports titles, etc...) and none of the 1st year 3rd party titles.
I think it goes back to what you and I always talk about. The populace screaming for the thing that they do not really want. People were calling for more games on the PS3 last year, but if they had gotten them, they would have been pure shit.
I've played an equal number of great games on my 360 and PS3 and bought the two systems within weeks of each other. When I go to the game store, I stand in front of hundreds of 360 titles, and a few dozen PS3 titles. I'm not sure if the diversity gives the former any advantage.
Of course, that is splitting hairs on those two systems, which are on the same life-cycle as one another (the 360 probably had a similar average its first year). And the PS3 bar will come down to the PS2 bar in another year or so. What I really find troubling is going to the game store and standing in front of the Wii catalog. It is just crazy how much utter garbage there is for the system. Not a decent 3rd party game to be found. 6, maybe, good Nintendo games. On a system that has doubled the sales rate for the 360. A system with barely any online support. It is hard to figure out.

What about the latest game magazine reviews and previews? I was completely shocked at the middle scores the games were getting, and the absolutely lackluster preview of upcoming games....for a console that costs TWICE as much as it should. I'll give Nintendo credit, though...they KNOW the American consumer.

Oh, yeah. As a person who loves a business that can turn a profit, I admire Nintendo. They are raping the customer with gusto.
But, as one of their customers, let me also say - Ouch.
Edit: Speaking of "ouch", I thought of you when I saw this (http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=25146).
They shoulda put an HD-DVD drive in the original 360... Blu-Ray would have been toast.
