Waukesha man accused of trying to start meth lab

Some stories make you laugh, stories make you shake your head and think how stupid can humanity get, and then there are stories like this one....They make you do both!!

Waukesha - A Waukesha man was charged Friday with attempting to start a methamphetamine lab, a plan that authorities say was thwarted because an astute hardware employee saw instructions he was carrying in the store.
Derek J. Haines, 24, told police that he was glad he was stopped because he was afraid he might blow up himself or someone else while trying to manufacture the drug, according to the criminal complaint.
Haines was caught Wednesday after he was inside Ace Hardware in the 100 block of W. Main St. carrying a printout from a Web site listing the items he needed to build a clandestine drug lab, the complaint says. The employee saw the paper and called police.
Police recovered from Haines' car starter fluid and concrete cleaner, which was allegedly stolen from the store. Officers searched the man's apartment and found a mixture of Ritalin tablets and gasoline in the freezer, the complaint says.
Haines has also been charged with delivery of prescription medication, bail jumping, and maintaining a drug house, all felonies. He is charged with misdemeanor bail jumping, theft, illegal possession of prescription drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was ordered held on $10,000 bail at the Waukesha County Jail.

I heard this on the news this morning and was very shocked that anyone called the police. Most people just let things go and ingnore it. Kudos to the person who called the fuzz

This guy is an idiot on so many levels; WTF thinks its a good idea to walk into a store with a meth lab instruction sheet? Especially when it says how to build a Meth Lab, right on the top?

But that wasn't even the stupidest thing. He had minutes before walked out with a can of Starting Fluid, and Concrete sealer-which comes in a 5lb bucket- not even attempting to conceal them, (It is kinda tough to shove a 5lb bucket in your pants after all) placed them in his car, and then WENT BACK INTO THE STORE and asked for help with the other items on his list.

So then he gets busted on the shoplifting charge, (The store has no security cameras, or a parking lot, The store is in an older section of Waukesha that has only STREET parking)

And then apparently while he was being interviewed at the Police Station, bust out with the line..."I sure am glad I was caught, I coulda killed myself or someone else"

Great thinking there Skippy! Perhaps now we could go out and put your little geeky "helicopter hat" back on, and then you could contact the aliens who stole your brain, and maybe ask for it back?

IDIOT!

....and Concrete sealer...
It was concrete cleaner... by which i assume they mean Muratic Acid (hydrochloric acid). That is nasty ass stuff all by itself. Hubby had chemical pneumonia from that once on a job site. I can't imagine anyone who doesn't know what they are doing touching it... or using it to mix in an explosive combination.

I was in that store yesterday, and I was chatting up the clerk about this Moron and he said concrete sealer, but I think your right on this one....

Because the sealer which I believe is some kind of paste, whereas the cleaner would be an acid like you say, I just know that they also use hydrochloric acid as an aluminum cleaner on trucks too, I use it on mine before I buff out the fuel tank and wheels and it is some wicked nasty stuff.

And now granted I haven't kept my Meth lab building skills up to date, but I couldn't see throwing this stuff into any kind of formulation.......Blech!

Yeah, me too, but then he probably would have gotten away! I'm trying to learn when to keep my big yap shut, but it doesn't always work!!

A Waukesha man who was arrested in March on allegations he was attempting to start a methamphetamine lab was sentenced Tuesday to 18 months in prison. Davis on Tuesday ordered Haines to serve three years of extended supervision when he is released from prison.

That's a pretty hefty sentence when you think about it. Bravo.

Who in their right mind comes up with that concoction? If anything says gasoline as a main ingredient and isn't put in a car or made of rubber, i stay away from it.
