Police said they were called to the 900 block of Caren Drive on Tuesday afternoon for reports that 8-month-old Ky'leigh M. Rogers was having trouble breathing.
The child was taken by ambulance to Carroll Hospital Center, where she was pronounced dead a few hours later.
Ky'leigh's body was transported to a medical examiner. An autopsy showed the child died from blunt force trauma.
The infant's mother, Angela Mabe, 23, told 11 News she was interviewed by police and that computers and cell phones were taken from her home.
No one has been charged in the death, but police are still investigating.
A representative with the Carroll County State's Attorney's Office said whomever is eventually charged could face up to 30 years in prison.
Wonder if this is going to be another slippery baby. RIP Ky'leigh.

I took a look at her at her community centerbabyprofile page....seriously, I don't see why she would want to post that picture of her holding her dead baby.
Maybe its just me, but that's just too much...too private to display in public.
Ky'leigh's body was transported to a medical examiner. An autopsy showed the child died from blunt force trauma.
I just want to know which one of these bastards killed her. She was such an adorable little one... Babies that go through this kind of trauma are in a lot of pain and distress. It just kills me to read when this has happened to a innocent one. No one has been charged yet, but I'll wait. Her murderer will be known and when that comes to light, they should get death.
I really hope it's not the mom...her picture is displayed with her, and she just wouldn't deserve that honor as her murderer. If she's innocent, her tragedies are far more than I could live with.
Kisses sweet one...what an angel.

A Carroll County man faces a second-degree murder charge in the death of his girlfriend's 8-month-old daughter, investigators said.
Donald Ray Pevia Jr., 28, was indicted by a grand jury Thursday on eight charges in the death last month of Ky'leigh Rogers of the 900 block of Caren Drive in Sykesville, said county deputy state's attorney David Daggett.
In addition to the murder count, the charges the grand jury returned include child abuse resulting in death, child abuse resulting in serious physical injury, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, manslaughter, and two counts of second-degree child abuse, Daggett said. Pevia also has been charged with possession of a controlled substance.
The infant was pronounced dead at Carroll Hospital Center on March 3 after being taken to the hospital with apparent respiratory problems. An autopsy by the state medical examiner's office indicated the child died from blunt force trauma, and the death was ruled a homicide.
Pevia lived with Angela Mabe, the infant's mother, Daggett said. He is being held in the Baltimore County Detention Center on an unrelated charge.http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/local/carroll/bal-infant0403,0,760087.story

Poor, sweet little Ky'leigh. RIP sweetheart.
I hope this POS penis is locked up until he dies. And I hope his death is lingering and painful!
How long had the mother known him? Where was she when he killed her baby? Is she still with him?
I cant understand why these bastards kill babies like this. Lions do the same thing, when they take over the pride. Kill off all the 'losers' progeny so he can start afresh. Humans are meant to be the 'higher species', so much better and so much more highly evolved than the rest of the animal kingdom that they can treat animals pretty much however they want. Maybe SOME humans are not so different to animals tho', eh? Time to lose the superiority complex, methinks.

Judge will rule April 20 on infant death
A Carroll County Circuit Court judge will take several weeks to consider the case against a man accused in the 2009 killing of a Sykesville infant.
Judge J. Barry Hughes scheduled a hearing for April 20 to announce a verdict in the trial of Donald Pevia Jr., who's charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault, child abuse and other charges in the death of Ky'leigh Rogers on March 3, 2009.
Hughes will decide Pevia's fate from evidence presented during the weeklong trial, which concluded Friday and which Hughes heard in place of a jury.
He said he wanted to review his notes and go over the evidence in detail before he makes a decision. [...]

Carroll County man seeks review in baby murder case
The imprisoned Sykesville, Carroll County, man convicted last April for the murder of an 8-month-old girl is seeking a review of his case.
Donald Ray Pevia Jr., 31, was sentenced to 60 years in prison July 5 after being convicted of charges including second-degree murder.
Pevia was found guilty of second-degree murder, first-and second-degree assault, first-degree child abuse resulting in death, first-degree child abuse resulting in severe physical injury, second-degree child abuse having care and custody of a child, and second-degree child abuse by a household member.
Pevia requested post-conviction relief of his attorney William Welch, citing that he no longer wanted Welch as his lawyer, according to case documents.
A three-judge panel review was scheduled Friday in Carroll County Circuit Court and postponed at the request of Welch due to the post-conviction request.
A new date for the panel review has not yet been scheduled.
Pevia was the boyfriend of Angela Mabe when her daughter Ky'leigh Rogers, 8 months, died March 3, 2009.
Ky'leigh likely bled to death as the result of multiple injuries caused by blunt force trauma, according to Assistant Medical Examiner Dr. Russell Alexander. She suffered a torn liver and spleen, two fractures of her skull and fractured ribs, among other injuries.
