Orlando police were tipped off Saturday that Lolitta L. Flores, 49, may have been killed by her boyfriend, Abdullah A. Khalig, on Feb. 22, reports show. The two had a long history of domestic violence.
Police were notified of the possible murder Feb. 28, when a man told them Khalig confided in him that he had killed Flores by strangling her with a bra.
Khalig, 38, allegedly told the man that he "took that girl's life" at her apartment.
Flores was found around 2 a.m. Sunday in the bedroom of her apartment in the 4600 block of Kirkman Road after firefighters forced their way inside. Her body had started to decompose.
Flores was reported missing Feb. 26 but had not been seen since Feb. 21.
The two had an argument on Feb. 18 and police had to intervene. Khalig was told to leave the apartment. He denied killing Flores or confiding in his friend about the woman's slaying, according to reports.
Khalig was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and booked into the Orange County Jail.
Flores' death marks the sixth homicide in Orlando this year.
