Well folks, it's that time of year again when the weather warms up and little ones are left in the vehicles. How many will die this year?

STANFORD - About 12:30 p.m. Friday, Lincoln County Deputy Sheriff Don Gilliam responded to a call from Walmart regarding a small child left unattended in a vehicle.

According to the sheriff's office, Gilliam determined from witnesses that an infant was locked inside the running vehicle and had been there about 30 minutes.

At the scene, Gilliam located Jeffrey Hatter, 24, of Yosemite and charged him with endangering the welfare of a minor.

Hatter also was arrested on unrelated charges from Pulaski County, including failure to appear on traffic charges and receiving stolen property more than $300.

He was taken into custody and lodged in the Lincoln County Regional Jail. Monday, he posted bond of $2,743 for the Pulaski County charges and was released on his own recognizance on the Lincoln County charge.

Please don't say that, I know it is inevitable....still, I hate the sound of those words as I read them. We've already hit a couple of 88 degree temps here....it's going to be a bitch of a summer.

I guess the child was O.K., no mention on his condition.

How fucking difficult is it to take the kids into the store with you? I know it can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but have some sense people. My son had baseball practice tonight and the baby fell asleep in the car. It was 35 degrees out and I was outside the vehicle while they were handing out the uniforms, probably 10 feet away with the doors locked lol. And I checked on her every few minutes because I was afraid she would wake up and be scared!

I became a mom at the ripe old age of 16 (I was almost 17, if that makes a difference) and I still would have never left my daughter in a vehicle alone... hell, I was afraid to even leave her sleeping in her own room alone w/o checking on her constantly ! And at night... she slept in a bassinet next to my bed until she was 4-5 months old. So, I don't understand how anyone can walk away from their child for seconds, minutes, even hours in a hot/cold vehicle that anyone could break into. The fact that it was running just makes it all the more inviting to a criminal.
