The parents of a 3-week-old infant told police the youngster disappeared from a South Anchorage apartment overnight, Anchorage police said today.
In a statement released early this morning, police Lt. Dave Parker said the mother of Ethan LaCroix reported the infant was in a bed near a window in an apartment in the 2100 block of West 80th Avenue when he vanished.
The boy’s mother and father, Elisa and Kaid LaCroix, told police they believe the child was abducted through the window, which was unlocked.
The parents neither heard nor saw anything suspicious, Parker said. They were watching a movie when the child disappeared.
An Amber alert was issued for the child today just after midnight. He was described as a Native male with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing blue pajamas with a puppy print.
At different times this morning, the alert mentioned the names of two people of interest. Parker said in his statement shortly after 4 a.m. that both have been located and are being interviewed.
Parker said at daylight this morning that a search team was heading for the neighborhood.
Elisa LaCroix in January accused a Fort Richardson soldier, who was described at the time as her ex-boyfriend, of beating her and raping her at knifepoint. The soldier was arrested and held in jail for nearly two weeks.
Police and prosecutors later said the allegations were false. The soldier was released and LaCroix was arrested on charges of tampering with evidence and filing a false report. According to online court records, the case is still pending.

Now there is no active amber alert when I went to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children Site. I also didn't see an updated article and just wanted to let you know that. Apparently, Elisa has apparently falsified information before and I just pray this baby is alright where ever he may be.

I'm stating the obvious here, but this does not sound good. They left the window open too? Isn't it 50 below up there?

They said it was unlocked, not open.

It was Mommy.
A woman who reported her baby missing is accused of orchestrating the disappearance...
Elisa LaCroix, 20, is charged with making a false abduction report. In January, she was charged with falsely accusing an ex-boyfriend of raping her close to her due date.
LaCroix was out on bail on the earlier case when she was arrested Sunday after 3-week-old Ethan LaCroix was found unharmed at Fort Richardson in the custody of Amelia Cameron.
No charges are planned against Cameron, who told police she didn't know her friend would file a false report.
LaCroix claimed she put Ethan in his crib near an unlocked window Saturday night, but police Lt. Dave Parker said she actually handed him to Cameron through the window.
Ethan's father, Kaid LaCroix, checked on the baby an hour later and discovered he was gone.
The couple are divorcing and Elisa LaCroix feared her estranged husband — a soldier based at Fort Richardson — would take the baby before his pending deployment, Parker said.
...
Parker said LaCroix intended to hide her son with her friend until her husband's deployment.
"The estranged husband was the reason she was doing all this scheming and hiding this child, so he could never have been let in on it," Parker said.

So, she has made false accusations twice..once blaming a man for raping her and then saying someone kidnapped her kid. She's a lunatic and they need to lock her up. And please let the father be responsible and keep this idiot away from the baby.

What a poor excuse for a mother. Seriously hope she does not get her son back. She's fuckn' around with his life like its a game. I'm not convinced she has any reason to orchestrates such thing with this Cameron woman and that she was trying to protect her baby.
Be happy and safe baby Ethan.

Subject: Missing Infant Found in Custody of Mother's Friend
Case Number: 09-10475
On 2-28-09 at 22:18 hours Anchorage Police Department began an investigation into the reported abduction of 3 week old Ethan LaCroix from his home in the area of 80th and Country Woods Lane. His mother, Elisa LaCroix reported him missing from his crib which was near an unlocked 1st floor window. He was recovered on 3-1-09 at 12:24 hours in the custody of Amelia Cameron, a friend of his mother.
The police investigation showed that Elisa LaCroix and her husband Kaid LaCroix were in the process of divorce and she feared that he would take custody of their son, Ethan prior to his deployment overseas with the US Army, which is scheduled in the next few days.
According to investigators, Elisa hatched a plan to hide the child with a friend, Amelia Cameron until Kaid had deployed. While Kaid and Elisa were together in her residence, Elisa went into the bedroom and handed Ethan out the window to Amelia Cameron. Some time later when Kaid discovered the child was missing, Elisa called police and reported the disappearance as an abduction.
She further implicated her ex-boyfriend, Cole Rothacher as a suspect in the abduction as she had in a false rape report on 1-10-09. In that case Rothacher had been arrested for Domestic Violence Sexual Assault but was later proved by police investigation to have been falsely accused. Elisa LaCroix was arrested for making a false police report and tampering with evidence in that case.
On 2-28-09 an Amber Alert was issued for the missing child, Anchorage police patrol officers, K-9 units, Major Crime Scene Team and detectives worked through the night in attempts to locate Ethan. The APD Auxiliary Search team was called out early on 3-1-09. Other law enforcement agencies assisted as well and ultimately Ethan was located through a joint effort by APD Patrol and Military Police on Ft. Richardson. He was unharmed and well.
Elisa LaCroix has been arrested on charges of Violation of Conditions of Release and False Information or Report for making the false abduction report. She was remanded to Anchorage Jail on $2000 cash only bail.
Investigators found no indication that Kaid LaCroix had any knowledge of the false abduction and that Amelia Cameron did not know that Elisa LaCroix was going to file a child abduction report.
Anchorage Police Department would again like to thank the media and the public for their assistance in this investigation.
