An Amber Alert was issued last night after a custody dispute ended in gunfire in West Philadelphia and the triggerman fled with his 3-year-old daughter, police said.

Adam Johnson, 24, apparently got into a heated argument with Amber Johnson's mother on Osage Avenue near 59th Street at about 7:30 p.m., said Lt. John Walker of Southwest Detectives.

Johnson fired several shots during the argument, one of which grazed the face of Amber's 6-month-old sister, who was inside her mother's house. The baby was treated at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Shortly after 11 p.m., police found Amber alive and well in the Lansdowne home of Johnson's girlfriend, Walker said.

Johnson, of Belmont Avenue near Westminster, fled his girlfriend's home when he saw a TV news report about the shooting, Walker said.

I checked the amber alert page and I do not see one listed so wondering whether it has been canceled but have not read that it has yet. I hope the 6 month old is going to be alright and is in my prayers.

http://i359.photobucket.com/albums/oo35/Special2bme/babymamadrama22.jpgA 3-year-old girl is safe and sound. The amber alert for her has been lifted. But Philadelphia Police are still looking for her father, Adam Johnson, who allegedly kidnapped the child.

The drama unfolded on Osage avenue in the Cobbs Creek section of Philadelphia.

Police say Amber Johnson was kidnapped by her father, right after he allegedly shot a 6 month-old baby who was inside the home on Osage avenue.

It all started when Adam Johnson began arguing with his daughter’s mother, said Investigators.

The 23 year-old grabbed the toddler and allegedly fired shots into her house, hitting the 6 month-old in the face.

The baby is in the hospital in stable condition.

Johnson then took off with his daughter in a green Chevy mini-van, according to police.

Amber has been found. But her father is still at large.

Adam Johnson lives in the 6700 block of Guyer street. He's considered armed and dangerous.

Police said Johnson has weekend visitation rights to see 3-year-old Amber Johnson and it was during a regular pickup Friday night that a disagreement ensued.

Sgt. Charles Layton said Johnson’s daughter was resisting going with her father and he got angry.

“He fires toward the house,” Layton said. “It goes through the window.”

Layton said someone was holding the baby inside the house and the bullet ricocheted off steel bars on the window and grazed the baby on the lip.

“An inch or two different, it would be a whole different matter,” the sergeant said.

Police said the baby was taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and held overnight.

Layton said, “(Johnson) didn’t mean to hit the baby.”

The sergeant said Johnson drove the girl to his lady friend’s home in Lansdowne.

There, he said, Johnson’s friend saw the Amber Alert on television and called 911.

Police found the toddler at the residence, but didn’t find Johnson.

In February 2007, Johnson was arrested by Prospect Park police on drug and vehicle violation charges. He later pled guilty to manufacturing or delivering and possession with the intent to deliver controlled substances.

On Nov. 5, 2007, Delaware County Common Pleas Judge Chad Kenney sentenced Johnson to 36 months in jail.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting, or if they know of Johnson’s whereabouts, to call Southwest Detectives at 215-686-3183 or 3184.http://www.delcotimes.com/articles/2009/03/01/news/doc49aa0bb2b283a943099544.txt
