LEBANON - A 69-year-old woman was arrested and charged Wednesday with trying to smuggle marijuana to her son at the Lebanon Correctional Institution.
Mary A. Fugate of Dayton, Ohio faces charges of attempting to convey drugs onto the grounds of a detention facility and possession of criminal tools, both felonies.
She is held at the Warren County jail and will appear today in Lebanon Municipal Court.
Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers and state prison investigators learned Fugate would try to smuggle drugs into her son during a scheduled visit, patrol officials said.
The woman was arrested after she consented to being searched. Authorities found two balloons containing a total of 10 grams of marijuana.
If convicted, Fugate could face up to five years in prison and a $13,250 fine.
