A Kingston woman punched a police officer in the face while he was arresting her on suspicion of DUI early Wednesday and repeatedly threatened his job, saying her family is "connected," according to charges filed.

Plains Township police said they arrested Bernadine A. Moses, of Gates Avenue, for driving under the influence in the parking lot of Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs around 12:37 a.m.

A parking attendant had called police and said an intoxicated woman wanted to drive away in her Lexus car.

According to arrest papers:

Moses smelled of alcohol and refused to cooperate. She said, "You don’t know who I am. My husband is connected. Look my name up and you will all know. This is the biggest mistakes of both of your careers."

Police asked Moses if she had any friends to drive her home, and she denied that she was drunk. She told police to "move out of my way so that I can drive home" and threatened officers Jason Ziolkowski and Kevin Brennan she would "have your jobs."

Moses is married to James Moses, owner of the former Jimeal’s Catering in Plymouth.

Officer Ziolkowski told her "none of her political threats would change the fact of the incident at hand" and took her into custody.

Police said Moses vomited in the back seat of the police cruiser on the way to the hospital for blood testing. At the hospital, she refused to submit to blood testing several times and continued to threaten the police. She then told Ziolkowski she "couldn’t stand" the fact he was chewing gum, and struck him in the face.

Moses was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and DUI. She was jailed in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 cash bail. She was released on bail Wednesday morning.

Reached at her home Wednesday, Moses declined to comment.

"I’m in enough trouble already," she said.
