On the morning of Wednesday, April 9, 2003, Bryan Michael Mace was found shot to death in his home and the home set on fire in the 12000 block of Elk Run Road in the Midland area of Fauquier County. Evidence suggests Bryan interrupted the burglary of his home and was subsequently killed. Bryan was 20 years old at the time of his death and worked with his step-father at Rayco Roofing in Manassas, VA.

"Someone out there knows something," Hartman said. A $10,000 reward is being offered, he added.

Mace was found shot to death in his home on the morning of April 9, 2003. His home, which is located in the 12000 block of Elk Run Road in the Midland area, was set on fire.

Evidence suggests that Mace interrupted a burglary of his home and was subsequently killed. Specifically, police have said that Mace was shot several times before the house and his body were deliberately set on fire. Numerous firearms and other items were stolen from the residence.

I worked with one of Bryan's relatives at the time he was murdered. His loss absolutely devastated the family and it would be nice to see the killer(s) brought to justice.

If I recall correctly he had no enemies and was not engaged in any illegal activities that would have made him a likely target. It's probable that the burglar(s) cased the house or were acquainted with somebody in he household as the home is not in a very populated area and was not one that screamed "we have valuables".

Nine years after Bryan Michael Mace's death, Fauquier County Sheriff's detectives are still pursuing leads in the case.

Authorities believe on April 9, 2003, Mace interrupted a burglary at his home on Elk Run Road in Midland, Va. He was then shot several times before someone set the house on fire. Several guns and other items were taken from the home, say authorities.
