WARE - A 28-year-old Malbouef Road man, charged with biting the tip of another man's finger off during a Saturday night fight in the parking lot of a Pleasant Street bar, was arrested by Ware police at his home on Sunday.
Frederick A. Venne, of 105 Malbouef Road, was charged with mayhem, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (his teeth) and assault and battery, Ware Police Officer Alan C. Kusek said.
The fight took place in the parking lot of Snow's bar and restaurant on Pleasant Street, Kusek said.
Police were summoned to the emergency room of Baystate-Mary Lane Hospital early Monday morning, Kusek said. The victim, a 35-year-old Ware man, told police that Venne bit the tip off his finger during a fight.
Police then sought, and obtained, a warrant for Venne's arrest, Kusek said.
The victim's finger had to be amputated down to the first joint, Kusek said.
A second victim, a 37-year-old man, also from Ware, was also involved in the fight. That resulted, Kusek said, in the assault and battery charge against Venne.
