VANCOUVER, Wash. -- Police said they are investigating three cases of people who were punctured by hidden hypodermic needles recently.
Vancouver officers said in two of the incidents the needles were taped to door handles while the third was taped to a public phone receiver. In all three cases, the needles caused the victim to bleed.
The three incidents were all reported at Vancouver businesses: Kinko's/FedEx at 303 E. 15th St., Moody Brews at 309 E. 15th St. and the Vancouver Public Library at 1007 E. Mill Plain Blvd.
Officers said these were the only cases reported, and asked that anyone who discovers a needle not to touch it and call 911 immediately.
One of the victims went to an area clinic, one was treated by an ambulance and the third was seeking his or her own treatment, police said.
It is unknown whether the needles had any substances on them.

...anyone who discovers a needle not to touch it...
If it was that simple, the folks wouldn't have gotten poked in the first place. Who inspect door handles before they grab them? Now there are going to be a lot of doors opened by hip checks.

I remember this exact same scenario happening a few years back.

Back in the 80's, my Ex had a route with Coca-Cola over by the Pimlico Racetrack in Balto (One of the worst sections in Maryland). He had mailed our Electric payment in one of the mailboxes and the electric company never got it. Found out other bills were also not paid. Wanting to save the money from cancelled checks, he had a tracer put on the mail.
Come to find out, the regular postman wasn't allowed to get the mail out of the boxes around there because of the hypodermic needles people would toss in them. Once a month, sometimes longer in this case, a special team would retrieve the mail from these boxes instead.

Everytime I go out to a crowded place I remember a story that people would go out to clubs and get poked without any knowledge and come home with a sticker on thier back that said "congratulations, you are now HIV positive". Probably another reason why I always try to keep my back to the wall and watch everybody.

Holy Crap!
if anyone did anything like that to me I'd kill them and probably myself too.. that would be absolutely terrifying.
I never touch door handles or faucets because I am terrified of getting diseases.I use my elbow to open doors and use paper towel to turn on faucets.
Only a sick individual would do something like that..it's evil to the highest degree to intentionally infect other people with a disease.
Like that Dr. that gave a bunch of people hepatitis by using dirty needles.
I would have killed him had I been one of his patients.

If they had of known it was on the door handle I'm sure they would have not touched it. Please, was it really necessary to make that statement. HELLO!
