KINGDOM CITY, Mo. -- A truck driver is being credited with helping find a missing 3-year-old girl after an Amber Alert was issued Wednesday.

Police said Cheyenne Ross was taken from her Cameron home by her non-custodial grandmother, Carla Kay Bell.

Cliff Stockton, a truck driver in Kingdom City, spotted the vehicle described in the Amber Alert at a truck stop and called 911. Stockton said he'd heard the license plate numbers on the radio.

"It just stuck with me. I couldn't tell you my license plate number, but I remembered that for some reason," Stockton said.

He said police arrived at the truck stop within five minutes. Until they arrived, Stockton said he kept an eye on the vehicle.

"I stood behind the van, you know, making sure that she wasn't going to try to leave. I wasn't trying to make a scene -- I was just trying to contain the area until the cops got there," Stockton said.

Ross' mother said she is grateful for the tipster. She was reunited with Cheyenne on Wednesday night.

"I was glad I was able to reunite the daughter with her mother. I mean, I'm a father -- I can imagine how worried they would be," Stockton said.

Bell was taken into custody. Charges are pending.
