HAPPY VALLEY, Ore. -- Deputies said a man exposed himself to a child using a specially altered pair of sweatpants Sunday afternoon.
Bryon Earl Huff, 47, was arrested at about 6:30 p.m. at the Goodwill store at 11424 SE 82nd Ave. in Happy Valley after he exposed himself to an 8-year-old girl, Detective Jim Strovink said.
Strovink said deputies responded to the call and talked to the girl and one of her parents before finding Huff still in the area. Deputies said that when they arrested Huff they noticed the pants he was wearing had been altered to make it easier for him to expose himself.
The modified sweatpants are his preferred method for avoiding detection while he exposes himself to children, Strovink said. The pants were taken as evidence.
Other parents shopping at Goodwill were shocked but said that they were careful to protect their children.
"It concerns me, but that's this area. You just kind of know when you come here you need to take care of your people," said Goodwill shopper Julie Marshall.
Clackamas deputies said Huff has a history of indecently exposing himself to young girls and that he frequents stores similar to Goodwill.
Huff has been arrested at least 21 times before and has two convictions for public indecency, Strovink said.
Investigators also said Huff had a glass pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue on it.
He was arrested on charges of first-degree public indecency and possession of meth.
