A 42-year-old man who claimed that he owns and operates rides at the Florida State Fair was arrested and accused of trying to buy sex from a 14-year-old boy.
According to the Tampa Police Department, Alex S. Pala, who lives in Chicago, was arrested Sunday night at a Days Inn hotel on north Dale Mabry Highway.
Police say it started when Pala told someone at a bar on Kennedy Boulevard that he wanted to buy a young boy. That person tipped off police.
While monitoring four hours of phone calls with undercover agents, police said they heard Pala describing sex acts, saying he would pay the boy and let him live in one of his homes.
"They were very elicit sex acts," said Tampa Police Department spokesperson Andrea Davis. "He was very specific and wanted to pay the child per sex act."
Officers set up a meeting at the hotel and arrested Pala when they say he showed up with almost $5,000 in cash and hydrocodone pills.
......
Pala is being held without bond at the Hillsborough County jail.
His charges include procuring a person under 18 for prostitution, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a two way communications device.
Pala does not have sex offender or predator status.
But Tampa police say in the recorded conversations Pala allegedly said this wasn't the first time committing these acts.
Records also show Pala owns a home in Haines City.
