Re: Avatars. If you look towards the top of the screen in the brown/maroon colored bar, there's a calendar link that you can click on and you will see Avatar changing days (usually Sat/Sun) and the themes for the weekly Avatar is listed there.
Changing your Avatar is totally optional, but it's fun!
