FDLE is now reporting that she is actually 5 years 5 mos old and the neighborhood is not "Hermus" but "Hermit's".
There are conflicting reports about what she is wearing as well. One report says a pink shirt and underwear, the other says pink shorts and a beige shirt.

Investigators in northeast Florida have questioned the father of a missing 5-year-old girl who his girlfriend says wasn't in her bed when they checked on her Tuesday morning, police told FOXNews.com.
Putnam County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Jason Nettles said he didn't have information on whether or not Haleigh Cummings' father and girlfriend are suspects in her disappearance.
"I don't know that for sure," he told FOXNews.com.
Both were questioned Tuesday by authorities. The child lived with the couple in Putnam County, Fla.
"The girlfriend and the father are cooperating with police," Special Agent Steve Donaway of the Florida Dept of Law Enforcement told an afternoon news conference.
Investigators also were interviewing others in the case, according to Nettles — including sex offenders in the area.
An Amber Alert was issued Tuesday for Haleigh, and authorities with dogs and ground search crews were hunting in the nearby river and woods for signs of the girl, who apparently disappeared before dawn.
"It could be an abduction. We're looking at it from all angles," Donaway said. Leads have been minimal, he said, and investigators are asking for the public's help.
Haleigh was reported missing after her father's girlfriend told police she discovered the child wasn't in her bed about 3 a.m.
The woman said the back door to the home was not locked at the time. Police found the door to the residence unlocked when they arrived at the house, according to Donaway.
Several registered sex offenders reportedly live in the vicinity of the missing girl's home in Satsuma, Fla. Donaway said they've all been identified, and either have been or will be interviewed by police.
Nettles said he couldn't confirm whether authorities were worried a sex offender might have abducted Haleigh.
"I don't think they've ruled anything out," he told FOXNews.com.
He declined to comment on one report that put the number of registered sex offenders nearby at 25 because he said he didn't know how wide an area was being considered.
Haleigh is 3 feet tall with blond hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink shirt.
Donaway said search teams would continue to look for the child through the night.
Anyone with information about the girl is urged to contact the Putnam County Sheriff's Office at (386) 329-0800 or 911.

It's hard to assume the parents when it's in FL. There seems to be so many sex offenders in clusters down there...remember that girl that was abducted and everyone thought her father and it ended up being a molester that lived across the "highway" from them...Damn what was her name?

I cant help having a bad feeling about the parents as well. It definitely has to be foul play of some sort (kidnapper, parents, etc.), a child doesnt just wander off like that in the middle of the night... I hope to God she is found safely, but the odds dont seem too good for that....

Her disappearance is now considered an abduction...
SATSUMA, Fla. -- One day after a 5-year-old girl disappeared from the bedroom of her Satsuma home, Putnam County authorities said they are now treating the case as an abduction.
The active search for Haleigh Ann-Marie Cummings was scaled back Wednesday morning as Putnam County deputies, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the FBI focused on an investigation into what happened to the girl, according to lead detective John Merchant.
Haleigh was last seen at 10 p.m. Monday in bed at her home in the Hermet's Cove mobile home park where she lived with her father, his 17-year-old girlfriend and her 2-year-old brother.
Investigators were told the last person to see Haleigh was her father's girlfriend, Misty Croslin, who told investigators that she saw the girl in her bed at 10 p.m. Monday night. She told police Tuesday that when she awoke at 3 a.m. to use the bathroom, Haleigh was missing and the back door of the home was open.
Channel 4 learned that the FBI was interviewing Croslin at midday Wednesday.
Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings, said he came home from work at 3:30 a.m. and Croslin and their son were the only other people in the house. He is convinced his daughter was abducted.
Putnam County investigators, joined by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the FBI and officers from surrounding counties, searched for Haleigh on the ground, in the air and from boats until nightfall on Tuesday. They went door to door in the neighborhood, stopped and searched cars leaving the area and contacted every registered sex offender nearby.
They said there was no sign of forced entry to the Cummings' mobile home, but they still don't know what happened to Haleigh.
Haleigh's mother, who lives in Baker County, made an emotional plea Wednesday morning for her daughter's return.
Sheffield's mother described the relationship between Haleigh's parents as "rocky." She said the kindergartner was scheduled to spend this coming weekend with her mother.
While 130 personnel from 25 agencies were involved in the search on Tuesday, Putnam authorities believe that number was down to 60 or 70 on Wednesday, including 16 members of the FBI.
Divers were scouring the nearby St. Johns River, bloodhounds and cadaver dogs were being used in the neighborhood around the Cummings' home.

The case is being investigated as both a missing person's case and as a child abduction. "Until we get new information, we're putting every resource, every detective on it from both angles," said Putnam County Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Johnny Greenwood. "It could be that Haleigh wandered off or she was taken. We just don't know right now."
As of early Wednesday afternoon, police do not have any suspects, he added.
Ronald Cummings' girlfriend, 17-year-old Misty Croslin, was watching Haleigh and her 4-year-old brother, he said.
Croslin told a 911 dispatcher that she had gone to the bathroom in the middle of the night Tuesday and returned to find the girl gone and a brick on the floor, according to CNN affiliate WJXT-TV.
The station's Web site printed the text of the 911 call, which included this exchange:
Dispatch: OK. All right, you said your back door was wide open?
Caller: Yes, with a brick. Like, there was a brick on the floor. Like, when I went to sleep the door was not like that.
The brick was actually holding open the door to the trailer, Greenwood said.
"There was no reason to believe someone had broken in, no windows were broken, the door wasn't broken," he told CNN.
Croslin, Haleigh's brother and Haleigh were apparently sleeping in the same bed in the double-wide that they share with Cummins, Greenwood said.
Police said Croslin had put Haleigh to bed at 8 p.m. and then went to bed herself at 10 p.m. Three hours later, Croslin made the discovery that the little girl was not tucked in.
On Wednesday, Haleigh's grandmother Marie Griffis told reporters that she feared the worst.
"She's out there somewhere, I can feel her. I can feel her presence," Griffis told CNN affiliate WFTV-TV. "She's screaming." Video Watch grandparents plead for girl's return »
Haleigh's mother Crystal Sheffield wept as she stood in front of reporters.
"I just want whoever's got her to bring her home," the girl's mother said. "That's all I want, is my baby home." Video Watch mother's tearful plea »
Griffis said that her daughter and Ronald Cummings had a "rocky relationship" and that the two took turns spending every other weekend with their daughter. Crystal Sheffield lives on the Florida/Georgia line and has been interviewed by law enforcement, according to police.
Investigators are looking into various angles of the case, including finding out the location of 44 registered sexual offenders who live within a five-mile radius of the Cummings home, Greenwood said.

Though that number may sound high, it encompasses both Putnam and Palatka counties which are separated by the St. Johns River, the law enforcement spokesman told CNN.

I usually deal with fear and disgust by hiding behind humour, it works well for me most of the time. As I read about missing Florida girl, Haleigh Cummings, I feel a chill that no humour can mask. This makes writing far more difficult for me, no emotional buffers.
At approximately 3:30 am yesterday morning, 5 year old Haleigh Cummings of Hermit's Cove, FL was not in her bed when her father's girlfriend checked on her shortly before her father arrived home from work, infact, she was nowhere to be found at all. By 11:00 am that same day an Amber Alert had been issued by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Putnam County Detective, John Merchant states, "Whoever Has The Child Is Not Supposed To Have The Child." Wow, really? Alright, alright... I probably wouldn't be on top of my communicational game in his shoes either.
I want to say that something feels incredibly wrong here, but that what could possibly feel right? Still, things don't add up in my head, I feel as though I am being fed a maggot infested diseased shit sandwich disguised as a simple cow patty. What makes it worse is that the facts seem to be different depending on the time and the news source.
Here are the facts as I can best discern them:
3:00 - 3:30 am, Ronald Cumming's 17 year old live-in girlfriend, Misty Croslin awoke to use the washroom, and discovered that Mr. Cumming's daughter Haleigh missing from her bed.
3:30 am, approximately: Miss Croslin calls 911 to report, in a state of panic, during the call, Mr Cummings can be heard to enter the home, having arrived from work. He sounds enraged and slightly irrational (and who wouldn't be?)
Still working on it, but i want it up asap!

Police currently have no definite suspects, however they are of course investigating those closest to Haleigh, as well as the 45 registered sexual offenders listed as living within a 5 mile radius. (Perhaps its past time to move?)
Haleigh Cummings, nicknamed Doodlebug, is 5 years and 5 months old, she is white with dirty blonde hair, she has brown eyes, weighs 39 lbs, is 3 feet tall and was last seen in her bedroom with her 2 year old brother, wearing a pink shirt and underwear. I'd also like to point out that she has the sweetest smile.
Police have also been searching the local area with helicopters, boats and search dogs, the case is currently considered an abduction and at this point Texas Equusearch has also joined the hunt. Police have also spoken with Haleigh's mother, 23 year old Crystal Sheffield who was at home in MacClenny, FL at the time of the abduction. She is not considered a suspect, and as all family members in this case has been co-operative with investigators.

SATSUMA - Five-year-old Haleigh Cummings is afraid of the dark and would not have wandered off into the night, her family told the Orlando Sentinel today as investigators stepped up a massive search for the Putnam County girl.
The girl's disappearance was classified as an abduction today.
Haleigh, who is nicknamed Doodlebug, lives with her father and his girlfriend in this rural county about 80 miles north of Orlando. Her father, Ronald Cummings, 25, put Haleigh to bed about 10 p.m. Monday before he left for work. His 17-year-old girlfriend, Misty Croslin, noticed Haleigh was missing about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.
"Haleigh is a very indoor-type child," Haleigh's maternal grandmother, Marie Griffis, said today. "If she goes outside, she wants you to be with her -- she would never go outside by herself in the dark."
Griffis said Haleigh is bright and loves drawing, makeup and playing with gadgets. She said that if someone has abducted Haleigh, she hopes the person will release the girl.
"Just bring her back," Griffis said. "There are plenty of places you can drop off a kid, no questions asked."
Detective John Merchant of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said that a screen door on the side of the couple's Satsuma home had been propped open with a block, but authorities found no obvious signs of forced entry.
"I just woke up and my back door is open, and I can't find my daughter," Croslin told a 911 dispatcher. She told the dispatcher she had been sleeping and the door was not open when she went to sleep.
Merchant said 44 sex offenders live in a 5-mile radius of Cummings' home, but all have been contacted by law enforcement since Haleigh disappeared.
"Right now, we don't have a lot of clues indicating where she's at," Merchant said. "I'm always positive, though -- we want to find her alive."
In addition to Putnam County deputies, officers from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Volusia, Marion and Flagler Sheriff's Offices are searching for Haleigh.
Search dogs are combing through woods in the area, and divers are searching the nearby St. Johns River.
Officials said Haleigh's mother, Crystal Sheffield, 23, was in Baker County near the Florida-Georgia state line at the time of her daughter's disappearance. Sheffield was talking with investigators today in Putnam County.
In the 911 call originally placed by Croslin, Haleigh's father told officials he needed their help immediately.
"I just got home from work, and my 5-year-old daughter is gone," he said, seeming to become more agitated as the call progressed. "I need somebody to be here now, I'm telling you.
"If I find whoever has my daughter before you do, I'm killing them," he said. "I don't care if I have to spend the rest of my life in prison."
He apparently hung up on the dispatcher, who then called back, trying to get additional information from Croslin, while constantly assuring her that deputies were on the way.
Joshua Duckett, father of missing Lake County toddler Trenton Duckett, said he was acting as a family spokesman and would try to find additional photos of Haleigh to help with the search.
Meanwhile, a volunteer group from Houston that helped look for Caylee Marie Anthony in Orlando last year said it is gearing up to help in the search for Haleigh. Caylee's remains were found in December, and her public memorial was Tuesday.
Tim Miller, the founder of Texas EquuSearch, said his organization has been in contact with Putnam County officials. Some volunteers may drive and others may fly to Florida today or tomorrow, he said.
"It's pretty ironic. We have another child disappear seven hours before Caylee's memorial," he said.
Bounty hunter Leonard Padilla is joining the ranks headed for Putnam County. He and his crew -- including bounty hunter Rob Dick -- plan to drive 80 miles north where the command center has been set up to search for the missing girl.
Padilla said he's going to see what's happening up there and will help if needed.

Something's not right with this story. Correct me if I misunderstood this completely. There was no forced entry because it wasn't necessary. It sounds like they had the door open or unlocked at least, it just wasn't propped open with a brick like it was later?

SATSUMA, Fla. -- One day after a 5-year-old girl disappeared from the bedroom of her Satsuma home, Putnam County authorities said they are now treating the case as an abduction.
The active search for Haleigh Ann-Marie Cummings was scaled back Wednesday morning as Putnam County deputies, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the FBI focused on the investigation into what happened to the girl, according to lead Detective John Merchant.
"The evidence that it's an abduction is that there's no reason to believe that the child wandered off," PCSO Maj. Gary Bowling said in briefing Wednesday afternoon. "She's a 5-year-old child and she's afraid of the dark."
Monday. She told police Tuesday that when she awoke at 3 a.m. to use the bathroom, Haleigh was missing and the back door of the home was open.
Channel 4 was told that that Croslin was interviewed for a second time at midday Wednesday, but authorities said Croslin -- and everyone connected with the family -- was cooperating with authorities.
"She's a 17-year-old child herself and so ... we have to be very sensitive to who she is and what she is," said Bowling, volunteering that the investigation was not focused on Croslin.
"All the world's a suspect," Bowling said. "We're going to treat everybody, every family member, every associate, every neighbor as a suspect until we can eliminate them."
Haleigh's mother, who lives in Baker County, made an emotional plea Wednesday morning for her daughter's return.

"Bring my baby home," Haleigh's mother, Crystal Sheffield, pleaded on Wednesday morning. "That's all I want is my baby home."
"I just want them to bring her back," Crystal Sheffield said. "I just want her home."
Sheffield's mother described the relationship between Haleigh's parents as "rocky." She said the kindergartner was scheduled to spend this weekend with her mother.
Celebrity bounty hunter Leonard Padilla, who was involved in the search for 2-year-old Caylee Anthony who when missing in Orlando last summer, arrived in Satsuma on Wednesday and offered a $25,000 reward if Haleigh is returned before midnight Saturday.
While 130 personnel from 25 agencies were involved in the search on Tuesday, Putnam authorities believe that number was down to 60 or 70 on Wednesday, including 16 members of the FBI.
While divers were scouring the nearby St. Johns River, bloodhounds and cadaver dogs were being used in the neighborhood around the Cummings' home.
The FBI was trying to contact the 44 known sexual offenders who live within five miles of the Cummings' home.
Officials said that helicopters with infrared sensing equipment would begin scanning the area after dark Wednesday and a group of volunteers would begin a new search of the area on Thursday, retracing the neighborhood in case Tuesday's search overlooked something.
Authorities said lots of tips have come in already and they continue to ask anyone with any information about Haleigh's disappearance to call the Putnam County Sheriff's Office at 386-329-0808 or the FDLE's Missing Endangered Persons Information Clearinghouse at 888-FL-MISSING.

Cummings said his daughter's favorite thing in life was her daddy.
The father remains in a tent with his family while police search the area around his house.
Ronald's father, Jack Cummings, said, "You see it on TV, but you never think it would happen to you."
Police continue to search the wooded area around the family trailer where Haleigh was last seen.
"I wish I could go out in the woods and search, but the police won't let the family go search," said Jack Cummings whose eyes were red and filled with tears.
Croslin is staying with relatives as the investigation continues, said Bowling, describing the girlfriend as a "child herself."

They said everyone, from family members to friends to a repairman who serviced the family's air conditioning unit, is being questioned about in the case.
Police interviewed people who know Haleigh and people who do not. Investigators have even offered lie-detector tests to anyone who would take one.
"Yes, I have taken a polygraph test. Yes, I did pass it," Cummings said.
Detectives said no one is being considered a person of interest in the girl's disappearance, and everyone is still considered a suspect.
Candlelight Vigil Held For Haleigh
For the second time in as many days, friends and family said a prayer and lit candles for Haleigh's safe return.
The missing girl's loved ones have been sitting under a tent just yards away from the home for much of the day as they leaned on each other for support.
"I don't know where she is or who has her. I just want her home," said Haleigh's mother, Crystal Sheffield.
Haleigh's grandmother, Marie Griffiths, told Channel 4 the little girl would never willing go with a stranger, but she still has hope the 5-year-old is alive.
"Haleigh is living and breathing. I don't feel that there's anything that has happened to her bad," Griffiths said.
Investigators have ruled out the possibility the girl may have wandered off in the middle of the night because she's afraid of the dark. However, Haleigh's mother confirmed there was in an incident a few years ago in which the child wandered to a canal near their back yard and was found floating face down.
Sheffield and investigators insist that incident has nothing to do with the current situation.

Assuming reports are only stating that the father has a daughter with the ex, who does the other child belong too?
If he belongs to the new GF, and shes only 17 now, then she'd had to have been age 15 when pregnant...
It could possibly belong to someone totally different....
anyone know?
i read the child protection agency was called on the father & gf before....

The little boy and Haleigh have the same mother. The father had both of the children. Their mother is Crystal Sheffield. I have not seen any reports that the 17 yr old girlfriend has a child.

I couldn't sleep, I was having nightmares. I was so hoping to come here and find good news. Guess I should have known better. It's so terrifying to think a child can go missing from the room where three people are in the same bed!
Looks like ole Lenny may become the champion of missing children instead of a bounty hunter. That's a good thing.

Sheffield's mother, Marie, told Greta Van Susteren everything seemed to be fine with her granddaughter living with her father.
"Haleigh told us they’ve been hit, and stuff like that, but to this point, everything was fine," Marie Sheffield said.
Police had never been called to the home in the past — but there have been prior problems with Cummings, Croslin and the children, Putnam County Capt. Steve Rose said.
"There have been some investigations done through the department of children and family," Rose told FOX News on Wednesday. He didn't elaborate.
There were still no firm leads in the case, despite police interviews with Cummings, Croslin and sex offenders in the area.
Investigators say Croslin is now with her family, but they're not calling her a suspect nor are they revealing whether the child's father is a focus of the investigation.
"I don't know that for sure," Putnam County Sheriff's Sgt. Jason Nettles told FOXNews.com on Tuesday.
Haleigh's grandfather, Johnny Sheffield, said he was distraught about the girl's disappearance and characterized Croslin as suspicious, though he admitted he didn't know much about her, according to MyFOXOrlando.com.
Cummings said his girlfriend was awake and frantic after she found Haleigh was gone.
But in the police report, obtained by FOX News, Cummings reportedly told officers that his "dumb bitch girlfriend" told him Haleigh was gone when he got home from work.
"Ronald said that he did not know what Haleigh was wearing, and that all he knew was that the back door was standing open. Ronald repeatedly said that someone had taken his child and also said 'When I find him I'll kill him,'" police wrote in the report.
He referred to a 9mm Beretta handgun he owns and said if authorities found his daughter's kidnapper, "he would shoot them through the back window of the patrol car," the police report said.
Detectives wrote that they followed a path that led behind the home and found what appeared to be a child's footprint in the dirt, though Cummings said his daughter's shoes were in the house.
Nettles told FOXNews.com that the hunt for Haleigh got under way Wednesday morning, with more helicopter searches as well as more on the ground using K-9 units.
Deputies say they have questioned 44 registered sex offenders who live within five miles of Haleigh's home, according to MyFOXOrlando.com.
Nettles said he couldn't confirm whether authorities were worried a sex offender might have abducted Haleigh.
"I don't think they've ruled anything out," he told FOXNews.com on Tuesday.
An air conditioner repair man who was at the home on Monday was questioned after police found out about his house call but cleared him of any wrongdoing.
Local and state authorities and the FBI searched for Haleigh in neighbors' homes and vehicles leaving her neighborhood on the St. Johns River, as well as in the nearby river and woods for signs of the girl. The effort lasted through the night Tuesday.
Investigators are asking for the public's help. Leads have been minimal, according to authorities.
Crystal Sheffield made a tearful plea about her little girl on TV news Tuesday night.
"I just want to say, 'Bring her back home. Please,'" Sheffield said.
Sheffield told Greta van Susteren the kids said they "loved Croslin," who she says Cummings was dating for four to six months.
"I’ve talked to her, she seemed like a really nice person, but I never sat down and had a conversation with her," Sheffield said.
Rose said Sheffield doesn't live in the area but traveled to Putnam County after she learned of her daughter's disappearance and has been interviewed.
"She is cooperating," Rose told FOX News.
The family held a candlelight vigil Tuesday night and said they plan to continue with the vigils until the child comes home.
Haleigh is 3 feet tall with blond hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink shirt and underwear.
Anyone with information about the girl is urged to contact the Putnam County Sheriff's Office at (386) 329-0800 or 911.

DCFS has come out before, that's interesting. What do u think Haleigh meant she's been hit before. Haleigh's father calls his girlfriend a dumb bitch. I guess emotions were high and he was upset. But I don't like that DCFS has been out and this hitting accusations. I'm am very upset and didn't sleep much and when I did I had dreams about this.

I hadn't seen this little tidbit before:
The rear door of their home was propped open with a cinderblock, authorities said, and there was no sign of forced entry.
Croslin had been sleeping next to Haleigh and when she went to the restroom, the child vanished. Haleigh's 3-year-old brother was unharmed.
"She was sleeping right next to me," Croslin told the Daily News while distributing flyers bearing Haleigh's photo on Tuesday. "I can't believe I didn't hear anything."
Johnny Sheffield, Haleigh's grandfather, and his ex-wife, Marie Griffis, expressed doubt in Croslin's account, saying details of her account "don't fit."
"How could somebody lift her up and move her and this girl not even wake up?" Griffis said. "It don't fit together. I don't know, it just don't work."
Sheffield said he believed his daughter's ex-husband and Croslin had dated about three to six months.
"I don't know nothing about her," he said. "Never seen her, never spoke to her."

What is the family connection to Joshua Duckett? That confused me.
To my knowledge, there is no family connection. It seems that parents who have a child missing or have had a child missing, come out of the woodwork and help in missing children cases. I believe there are now several parents of missing children that have offered their help. I think it's a healing thing for them and they feel they can help the missing child's parents because they've been through the experience.
Here's an article about it:

PALATKA - Joshua Duckett, the father of missing Leesburg toddler Trenton Duckett, traveled to Putnam County Wednesday to support the families of a 5-year-old girl who was reported missing early Tuesday morning.
Duckett also helped the girl's father as a liaison of sorts with the media, bringing new photos of Haleigh Ann-Marie Cummings to reporters and giving interviews on TV.

It might be helpful to post only NEW info from articles instead of entire articles saying the same thing over and over again. I do not want to read an entire article with the SAME info just to make sure I don't post something that's not NEW.
Can we link up the article and then cut snippets out of it with just the NEW info and put that info in quotes? I don't think anybody wants to read the same thing 100 times or read a lengthy article full of family quotes and the same info you've read 10 times before just to find something new in the case.
Let's streamline it, please!

HARDY: No, there was a brother in the home, a younger brother.
VAN SUSTEREN: But he wasn't in the same bed with the girlfriend and the missing child?
HARDY: No, ma'am. He was -- I believe he was in another room, another bed or another -- another bedding area. I don't believe he was on the same bed, no.
VAN SUSTEREN: All right. So according to least what I hear, and correct me if I'm wrong, she wakes up or something about 3:00 o'clock, notices the child missing, but a phone call is not made for 27 minutes to 911. Is that correct?
HARDY: Well, I can verify the fact that our 911 call did come in at 3:27 AM. As far as exactly the timeline of when she woke up and discovered the child missing, I don't know. She's saying it is some time after 3:00.
VAN SUSTEREN: Crystal, have you spoken to the father of your child or his girlfriend in the last 24 hours?
SHEFFIELD: I spoke to him yesterday. I have not spoken to his girlfriend.
VAN SUSTEREN: What did he say to you?
SHEFFIELD: He just said that -- he told me he was sorry and that if he would have been home from work that it would have never happened."

i caught a bit of this on Nancy Grace last night in between the talks about Caylee. i noticed they live in what appeared to be a mobile home...
It occurred to me, i've live in mobile homes before and anyone else who's lived in one knows.. a door being 'jimmied open' in a mobile home is noisy. when i lived in NC ... i was pregnant with my last child and my son was sleeping in his room with a friend over for the night. i *heard* the back door to the mobile pop open and someone trying to climb in. I began screaming, hoping to alert the neighbors. whoever it was, stopped trying to climb in and ran. my next door neighbor's dog heard me and alerted the owner, the owner came over to make sure everything was alright, and called the police because i didn't have a phone. we later found a machete near the backdoor.
something is really fishy about the gf's story. she might only be 17, that doesn't really mean much in that other kids, younger than her, have planned out the murder of their parents, classmates etc...
i hope i'm wrong, and i hope she had nothing to do with the disappearance of this precious child. my hope is also that the child is found alive and well, but the longer she is missing, the less the chance she has.....
just my $.02..
my heart and prayers for little Haleigh....

http://i359.photobucket.com/albums/oo35/Special2bme/18700199_194X240.jpgMisty Croslin tearfully describes waking up, finding the back door of their mobile home open and Haleigh gone.
"Cummings, Croslin and other family members and acquaintances were interviewed and offered lie-detector tests. Hardy would not confirm who had taken polygraph tests or discuss the results.
"Everybody, including the family -- and I want that for the record -- has been extremely cooperative with us," Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy said.
Hardy said a renewed ground search would begin Thursday of the five miles surrounding the Cummings' home. Low cloud ceiling in the morning prevented helicopters from being used, but boats and divers were still in the St. Johns River, which is only about 1,000 yards from the mobile home park.
Texas Equusearch, a mounted search-and-rescue group which helped search for missing Orlando toddler Caylee Anthony last fall, was to arrive in Satsuma on Thursday.
"A fresh set of eyes and they'll be able to cover some of the terrain that's very difficult to get to and they'll be able to get to it by horseback," Hardy said.
Celebrity bounty hunter Leonard Padilla, who was involved in the Anthony case, has offered a $25,000 reward if Haleigh is returned before midnight Saturday."
http://www.news4jax.com/news/18698884/detail.html
"The good news on this one is that it's not a month-plus before Haleigh's been reported missing," Miller said, referring to the Caylee case. "We're certainly optimistic - we have to be optimistic.
Duckett said that he had no qualms about encouraging Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings, to interview with CNN's Nancy Grace last night.
"I don't have a problem with Nancy Grace's show," Josh Duckett said. "She does things that need to be done, she asks questions that need to be answered and as long as you tell the truth you won't have a problem."

The 17-year-old girlfriend of the father of a missing Florida girl took a lie detector test, a local sheriff said, but he wouldn't reveal whether she passed.
Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy declined to disclose the results Thursday of the polygraph given to Misty Croslin in the disappearance of Haleigh Ann-Marie Cummings, 5.
"Misty has been interviewed extensively and yes, she did take a polygraph," he said.
Hardy said ground and searches continued for a third day on Thursday. Bloodhounds have been used, but haven't turned up any clear evidence.
He said evidence has been collected from the mobile home where Haleigh lived with her 3-year-old brother Junior, her father Ronald Cummings and Croslin — but declined to describe it.
According to Cummings, Haleigh had gotten up to use the bathroom. When she didn't return, Croslin went to look for her and noticed the back door was open.
Cummings, who has custody of Haleigh and her brother (first time I've seen that he had custody), said his daughter was scared of the dark and would not wander off.
Detectives wrote that they followed a path that led behind the home and found what appeared to be a child's footprint in the dirt, though Cummings said his daughter's shoes were in the house.
An air conditioner repair man who was at the home on Monday was questioned after police found out about his house call but cleared him of any wrongdoing.

I don't think this article is correct. All the others indicate Croslin woke to go to the bathroom and found Haleigh missing, not that Haleigh woke. If that were the case, there'd be a very precise time of disappeance, and as the case stands now, the last time anyone reports seeing Haleigh was at 10pm that night.

Yes, that's correct. That is what all the other papers are saying. That's why I posted that as "new" information. Whether it's a true statement or not remains to be seen. There is a lot of misinformation out there that seems to have plagued this case from the get-go.

"I didn't hear anything at all. If I'd heard something, I would have got up and I wouldn't have let them take her," Croslin said.
Croslin said after putting Haleigh to sleep about 8 p.m., she was up doing laundry, which was right by the back door, which she knew was locked when she went back in the bedroom. She said she put a blanket on Haleigh and lay down beside her.
It's unclear whether Croslin left the bedroom prior to Haleigh disappearing. Croslin's account indicates that she left the room at some point. She said she woke up about 3 a.m. to go to the bathroom.
"I didn't make it to the bathroom. I seen the kitchen light on and I walked in the kitchen and the back door is wide open," Croslin told Channel 4's Laura Mazzeo. "I go in the room and she's gone. And that's all I know. When I went to bed she was there and then when I got up and she was gone."

She sees the kitchen light on, walks into the kitchen, sees the back door open and then immediately walks to Helaighs room and discovers her missing.....
What kind of bothers me is assuming she was doing a load of laundry after putting her to bed and falling asleep, (I am guessing on the couch) she would have/should have remembered that the kitchen light was on.....
Why would she go to the back door and then right to her room. Why would she not close the door, and then check the rest of the house first.....
Maybe I am reading to much into the interview.....her statement just struck me as being odd....

No, the police would not have necessarily announced it. The Dad is new to being in the spotlight and doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut. I'm pretty sure he wasn't supposed to say anything but out of desperation in clearing him and the GF, he opened his mouth. Ok, so I just watched her tearful interview (the GF) and this is my take...She fell asleep next to Haleigh (I did this MANY times with my kid) and got up to go pee and she probably didn't notice that Haleigh was missing then because she's not used to sleeping there with her? So she didn't make it to the bathroom because she saw the light on in the kitchen, possibly knowing that she had turned it off this caught her attention. Seems there is a possibility that the back door is off to the side somewhere and maybe not directly visible from the kitchen but kind of off the kitchen. (I've seen mobile homes with this type of floor plan.) So then she sees the back door open and then runs to the bedroom(s) to check on the kids.
I still don't think she's lying. She may have conflicting stories about the exact details but I don't think she had anything to do with her disappearance. But that's just my opinion.
The only thing I DID find odd was when she said the kids loved her and she is good to "them" kids. She never once said, "I love them as if they were my own."

Lemme rephrase that then.
Dad of all people should be the one saying NO COMMENT every chance he gets. He knows his daughter is missing, he KNOWS that the focus is on the Girlfriend, (I am also suspecting that he KNOWS good things are not gonna happen in his future with regards to a 17 Y.O. girl and Law Enforcement)
All that being said why would he want to do something stupid like that and open his mouth, at the risk of really PISSING off the very people trying to help find his daughter?
New to the spotlight or not....just because people and reporters are there DOES NOT MEAN you are obligated to speak to them.

I think the girlfriend did lie about the door being locked, flustered when asked if it had been locked. I bet she forgot to do it or they never bothered to lock it in the past. The father sounds genuinely upset on the 911 call, I don't know but I think he's not the one. But as it goes, and we all have seen it here time and time again, anyone can be guilty of killing their own child.

The only thing I DID find odd was when she said the kids loved her and she is good to "them" kids. She never once said, "I love them as if they were my own."
I can see the falling asleep scenario being possible.....However if she was indeed abducted, presumably she would be very close to Haleigh, say within a foot or two, (most likely less) Then the abductor would have had to sneak in very quietly, grab Her while being careful not to ruffle the sheets or make any type of noise and then sneak out the back door....
That just seems like an awful lot of things that need to happen perfectly....
Although I do agree with you that it IS indeed possible.
Just my luck sucks

When I was younger (teen/early twenties) I used to sleep like the dead. Fire alarms wouldn't rouse me--the only thing that would bring me around was if someone touched/shook me. So it is possible - if she sleeps that heavy, that someone could take a child laying right next to her without waking.
My children sleep like I did--with my son we could pick him up by his ankles, hold him upside down and he'd sleep through it.
Wish I could get a good night's sleep like that these days. Every little thing wakes me now- guess I'm making up for all my younger years.
It's been said that the GF is very childlike. I would think an immature, frightened young girl would be unable to recount her exact steps upon waking, so I would expect some conflict in her explanations.
My gut fears this is another Jessica Lundsford case.

I HATE being suspicious - feeling the need to dissect every little detail - but I can't stop myself.
Hence, I am linking the uncut interview with the GF. After watching it - twice - I am not prepared to let her off the hook. She goes into wayyy too much detail and mentions something about a blanket she couldn't cover Haleigh up with because "They took it".
She is #1 right now to have either harmed Haleigh - or caused Haleigh to be harmed.
I hope I am wrong. I hope Haleigh comes home soon, alive and well.

I heard her say the blanket was in the "van that they took".....can that be right....can you listen again and let me know if this is what you hear too?
Also...did she need to mention about the child peeing on the blanket? Why exactly was that important?
I get the feeling she might not have been in the trailer with the kids....and left the back door unlocked so she could get back in maybe? When she got back...door was open...light on...all the rest might be true.
Sorry if this has been mentioned..I am still trying to catch up.
And I dont buy her story really....but she is only 17 so who knows?????

And some of the News reports also state that the her father (Haleighs) came home at 3AM from work.
So that means SHE was the only one in the house with the children during this whole time.....

Well, if you were alone with the kids in the house and awoke to find the back door proped open with a brick - would YOU think the 5yr old got up and did that, or would you be dead certain by this time that someone took her? Of course she assumes at this point someone took her. The people who thought she maybe wandered off were law enforcement - the family was already saying that didn't seem likely to them.
And that whole van thing seems entirely unrelated - her blanket was in someone's van that drove off with it. Whatever - that's some other unimportant story. I think this was just a convoluted way of explaining what Haleigh had with her that night, (and the the blanket usually hers was not in the house, but not missing with her either,) and the laundry she was doing that evening near the back door. Teenagers are hard to follow when they're not crazy panicked, so her disjointedness really doesn't raise a single flag for me at all. *You* guys try and get the firm details of a story in a clear chronological order from *my* teenager. You'll go round in circles for a good hour even when she's doing her best to try to convey exactly what she thinks happened. Croslin will look downright clear and straightforward in comparison, ha.

Seriously? You must live in a very nice area. Because these people are almost comically, sterotypically, your basic white underclass. People just like these folks are ubiquitous across the country. I've family that could be their neighbors. Maybe you just live more urban - the sterotype (which these guys fit,) does run a bit more towards rural/suburban. But trust me - these folks are a fine representation of a not-insignifigant, not-dismissable, segment of the population.

I watched the family and the GF on tv last night. My hinkey meter goes off every time I look at or hear the GF talk. Not that i'm actually saying that she did anything with her, but i'm of the mind she did take off during the night to see someone or party with some neighbors. Not sure yet, but something is not right there.
And yes, the mother doesn't seem too concerned to me either. But they could have her doped up on Xanax or some such. She's remarkably calm. Not saying she should be throwing herself around on the ground screaming or anything, but she just doesn't show any concern now.
She had no idea whether or not Haleigh had been in school the day before, actually she didn't seem to have much information about her daughters life at all. Even if I hadn't had custody of my kids, I would have talked to them everyday and been involved in their school and personal lives.
And yes, they are hicks, so what? A lot of my family and friends in Ky are hicks, good people.

But that's why it's called an "irrational fear". Because it doesn't make sense.

I think about the blanket, she was saying that Haleigh had peed on it the night before so it was in the laundry. I'm thinking that it was "in the van that they took" meant that FDLE took the blanket away as evidence in their van. Not "they" as in some stranger.
And I don't think it would be abnormal for her to say "loved" - the little girl is missing and this is a teenager. This 17 year old's brain is not developed enough to process this whole thing. Think about it. She's being thrown into the spotlight, everything she does and says is scrutinized by everyone and she is only TWELVE years older than the little girl that is missing. When we're talking the difference between a 45 year old and a 33 year old, it doesn't seem that big of an age difference, but developmentally, she is closer to the 5 year old than a 29 year old.
Anybody that has a teenager knows that their brains do not operate at full capacity yet.

About 100 organized volunteers joined dozens of law enforcement personnel Friday in a renewed search for a 5-year-old girl now missing for more than 80 hours.
Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy said his investigators have pursued more than 350 leads and on Friday they plan to reinterview family members and others who had contact with Haleigh.

I watched Nancy Grace last night and the bio mom had said that she heard three separate stories about where Haleigh was and how the three were sleeping. She couldn't remember exactly who she heard it from, though. In one instance, they were all in a bed. The other story was Haleigh was in a different room and the girlfriend was with the little boy in the same bed, and the third story was they all were in their separate beds.
The girlfriend doesn't seem smart enough to me to pull a big cover-up on this. I think all the details about the laundry, blankets, and such was said because she was asked about what exactly happened.
I do think something is going on that she is not admitting to, such as not being in the home at the time of the abduction or having someone over.
Was she on the phone with police before or after the father arrived home?

But I still check the window locks in my kid's room, and keep one or more dogs sleeping in the same rooms with them as my own odd intruder alarm piece of mind.
It's not irrational. It's safety. If people most people did not lock their house up intrusions would happen all the time, then the fence would be turned around. Many intruders, whatever the reason they are intruding, are looking for an easy quiet access. If they will have to struggle with something and most likely make noise, especially at night, they are usually not even going to bother to try and get in. Everyone knows this. I think it's irrational that people leave their house and cars unlocked all the time and say "well, because if they want in they are going to get in anyway, if it's unlocked I won't have to pay for a broken window or whatever. Almost all thefts from cars are from unlocked cars. Generally a thief will only break your window or pry your lock off if he knows for certain somethings in there that he wants.
SO LOCK YOUR SHIT UP PLEASE!
It's funny, me and my girl are the opposite of most of you couples, She was born Amish and raised in the country and likes every window and door in the house to be open on nice days. I'm the one always closing and locking stuff and bitching at her for it. Now we live in the Chateau Ghetto apartments and I hate having the apartment open. Maybe a window open some for fresh air but not the front fucking door hanging wide open all day with just a flimsy ass screen door that does not lock. Pisses me the fuck off to no end and she says I'm just uptight. anyways.
As far as the real story here, I still like the theory that a she was sneaking out of the trailor after the kids were in bed on several occasiopns for some reason, and a neighbor or someone who hangs around the area had seen this before, watched her, knew her habits and that the girl would be unattended and they waited for their opprotunity and grabbed her.

Just wanted to chim in with my .02 I am getting a bad vibe from the gf everytime I see her. She may be telling the truth but I honestly do not think it is the whole truth! Either she was not home when Hayleigh came up missing and when she came home she noticed or maybe she had company come over while her bf was at work and is not telling. Maybe this person knew that she would be "knocked" out and not wake up...maybe this person gave her a xanax or something to help her sleep.
To me this couple looks like they could possibly be the type to play with drugs and maybe their friends knew maybe that she had been up for a few days (partying over the weekend) and when she went to bed would be down for a while. She could have been out doing drugs at a neighbors house when the baby came up missing and someone seen her there and knew that she had left the kids alone.
I hope and pray that she is found safe and sound and whoever is responsible for this is brought to justice!

On the 911 call, it sounds as if she was on the phone with them already and he walks in from work. It could also be that he told her to call while he was out walking around outside looking for her. Now that I think about it, if he walked in while she was calling 911, you would expect her to say "hang on" to the dispatcher while she explains what's going on to the Dad. Doesn't seem like that happened...

Family being re-questioned and search expanded beyond 5-mile radius. Kid Finders and Texas Equusearch are now assisting.
http://wdbo.com/localnews/2009/02/haleighs-family-to-be-requesti.html
Putnam County Sheriff's Deputies are set to re-interview family members of missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings. But who exactly is being interviewed and what questions they want to ask is being kept secret.
Deputies are refusing to answer questions about discrepancies in the story told by the last person to see Haleigh. The 17-year-old live-in girlfriend of Haleigh's father says she put the 5 year old to sleep Monday night and awoke early Tuesday to find her gone.
In initial reports, Misty Croslin(pictured) had told investigators that she was sleeping in the same bed as Haleigh and her younger brother. But Croslin told reporters Thursday that she was sleeping in another room, got up to use the bathroom, and found the girl missing.
Meanwhile, search teams continue to scour heavily wooded areas near Haleigh's Putnam County home. The search has been expanded past the 5-mile-radius that was first established, and volunteer groups such as Kid Finders and Texas Eqqusearch have arrived to aid in the search.

I dont either Whisp....BUT when it comes to NG EVERYTHING is breaking news! LOL......I hate to think the worst here...but it SO is bothering me that they found items of interest in this case...that just cant be good...and the way the doggies went down by the water.
This just hits so close to my heart....like the rest of us here. I had to start taking Sam-e......it is supposed to make your "mood" better ...or more normal...I dont know...I seriously think all this bad news is making me depressed.

I want to comment that I kinda feel the same way Morbid does that maybe the GF wasn't at home. That is the only involvement I feel at this time that she may play in this. I still feel it's to early for me to guess what actually happen except for maybe a pedo broke in and took her and GF wasn't home at the time. I don't want to judge them because of where they live or how they live because well not everyone is materialistic or have the money to be. Does that make any sense.

Good gracious! Do you think maybe we can just link up lengthy articles in the future? Please? Especially if it's not directly related to the case? I really want to participate in this thread because this is close to home for me - just a few hours east.
Brief description and "new" news plus link?
Everyone, SU is right most of the articles have the same information in them, try to look for just the new information within that article. If you do not know what the new information within the article is please just post the link. Thank you.

Am I the only one who thinks that Haleighs Mom giving interviews is a bad Idea?
I would think that she would/should be smart enough to know that anything she says could at least theoretically harm the investigation more than it would help it.
If the Sheriff is not talking why should anybody else?
It just seems as though the media at this point is doing more harm than good.

Ok...did anyone else catch on the 911 call when GF said the name of the street they lived on and the 911 op said "what's the numerical?" And the GF says "what's numerical?" SOOOOoooooooo....if she does not know the meaning of the word numerical....I suspect she might not have known who was sleeping in who's bed beside her.
This is very disturbing to me. It is disturbing that these children were left in her care. And it is disturbing that this father of 2 is dating a 17 yr old. IMO
Isnt she a minor...and without stating the OBVIOUS......shouldnt he NOT be dating her????

I heard the numerical comment but didn't know if it was due to her being distracted and not understanding the question. I have to keep reminding myself she's just 17. I know the grandfather wasn't too bright either when he said Haleigh was his 6th generation grandchild. I was thinking HUH.. say what?
I too believe she may of not been home at that time as well. Came back just before hubby was to be home from work.
If this was a practice of hers, a local pedo may have known this. Maybe she put the brick there to come back in the house so she wasn't locked out. Didn't want to use the front door in case she was caught?
You would think though that someone who was with her would come forward.
I still say to go back and check the local offenders.

Personally I think she went to smoke a joint with someone and if they went out back to do it maybe didnt lock the back door back up??Im just saying here when people go smoke a joint its normally outside (especially if you have kids) mainly back deck/porch sometimes front. But if she did and didnt lock it back up shes probrably afraid to come clean. Here in Canada I know we more liberal views on the subject and shes probrably afraid of the wrath to come if she fesses up.If not out smoking a joint then my back up plan is she was smoking another guy??

Yea...she has to be lying about something...a locked door does not just unlock itself....and preditors who know people are home are prob not in the habit of turning kitchen lights on...and if it was THAT dark that he/she needed a light.......seems to me they knew where that light switch was....they have been there before.....but nothing makes sense here....unless the door was unlocked. :confused2:

Since this is a rental trailer- how long have they lived in it-who were the previous residents? The man that owns this trailer is renting a trailer to a sex offender. I wonder does he change locks with change of residents?
Also I read today the report of the dog going from back door through wooded area to pond area and a small structure like shed. Then the dog went on to a rail road. (wooded area was where footprint was found)
Latter a tipster (this is from Web Sleuths) said he saw a truck a rail road with 2 individuals putting a young girl in truck. ????

The only other conclusion I can come to is the other trailers are just like theirs. Like Cookie Cutter Houses, the electrical outlets, lights, etc will be in the same place. The trailer we have at the beach has a light switch soon as you come in that back door. Those door are rarely used and are merely emergency exits on most trailers.
So it's either someone they know or someone who knows the layout and their patterns.

- The Marion County Sheriffs office is asking for he publics help in finding a missing man who happens to be a registered sexual predator.
Authorities said Chad Reynolds, 25, was last seen on February 1 in the Ocklawaha area. He reportedly borrowed a vehicle from a friend then called later to say he had broken down near a Wal-Mart in the Villages near the Marion/Lake County line. The vehicle was later found south of Marion County.
Reynolds is still missing and has not contacted his family. A warrant has been issued for Reynolds for violation of his probation.
Anyone with information regarding Reynolds whereabouts is asked to call the Marion County Sheriffs Office at 732-9111 or Crime Stoppers at 368-STOP.

Who is the sex offender living in the trailer? Are you talking about him dating a 17 year old girl? Because if you are, he may be wacked to be dating someone that young but he is not a registered sex offender.
Where is the report about the dogs going down the path to the shed/pond/railroad. Can someone link that up? I read about them finding a shoe print on the path but nothing about a railroad.

The search yielded "items of interest," but Putnam County Sheriff's officials declined to say what the items were, who found them or what makes them interesting.
Searchers carrying little orange flags -- to mark potential evidence -- and walking sticks were seen marching down Buffalo Bluff Road, the main two-lane road near Haleigh's neighborhood.
Some speculate about what happened but many are suspicious of the father's 17-year-old girlfriend, Misty Croslin, and wonder if she keeping stuff back.
"I'm not saying she did anything. It's just strange," said Smith's Mema co-worker, Shawna Jacobs, 25. "She must know more."
Marie Griffis, Haleigh's maternal grandmother, shares Jacobs' suspicions. She's especially critical of Croslin's account of where Haleigh was sleeping when the little girl disappeared: Croslin initially told sheriff's investigators that she was sharing a bed with Haleigh, but has since told conflicting stories to media outlets.

Yeah, she doesn't sound too bright. She' also very young and just ignorant about how to answer and go about any of this, I would think. Now, I really do think she is holding back on something. Wasn't there, or, even I was thinking, she may have been just a few trailers down chatting with someone else, like a lover, end that case not chatting. This would put her out of the trailer and with another person. She's not fessing to everything. You would think at some point, like now, if she's been holding back, investigators would have cracked her. Curious if they have more pertinent info now and just not releasing it yet.
This all stinks something awful. Haleigh...geesh, just want her found...alive.

I have never lived in a trailor but as a kid I babysat in alot of them.We lived in a tourist kinda town & in a few trailor parks people lived in 24/7/365.Others came only in summer but all the ones I ever babysat in were identical EXCEPT its seemed to vary if door was on right side next trailor door was on left side.So the 2 doors kinda met up,so back and front doors would meet up across from each other and then between that trailor and next one there would be a empty space between them no doors.Does anyone know if any sex offenders lived next to them or really close.I know 44 are around the trailor but any really, really close??Does anyone have home addy. I know in States unlike Canada you have the advantage of entering addy and getting map of all of them.Sorry if this has already been addressed and I maybe missed it. Maybe another case of sex offender moved around there but didnt register? Its seems alot do that, move and dont bother registering knowing people will attempt to drive them out of their neighborhood ( I know I would). Its getting to be to many hours missing to feel good about this although maybe we have to be hopeful in the aspect her bodys not been found and I guess in this case no news is good news but Im not feeling to good. The Van Dam case,Lunford,Polly Klaas, etc, etc werent good results although Elizabeth Smart did come home 9 months later and that alone gave people and gives people hope I guess. Thanks for letting me vent.

Maybe it's just the way she talks, but it really bothers me that she said she "wouldn't let them take her." How does she know it's a "them" and not a "him" or hell, a crazy wish-I-your-baby "her"? I think there's more to the story than we're getting, and I have a terrible feeling about the outcome of this one. What's so weird is that I was just lamenting that we don't cosleep now as much as we did. Ever so often I think of all the benefits of cosleeping, like she's right next to us if there's a fire or someone couldn't just march in and take her away, which scares me because even though we lock all our doors there is a huge ass glass door on our deck that anyone could break and come right on in. This story just makes me want to hug my baby all night because I know that one-tenth of a mile down the street there is a registered sex offender. ICK! Not to mention all the scummy men who answered their doors half-naked on Halloween night! Oh, I hate people. Really I do.

I was thinking this could be famliy or friends of bio-mom. The children see her every other weekend and they could share all the info needed to plan something like this. I also believe Misty leaves the children alone most nights. I don't see a swinging hot chick like her sitting around alone, babysitting someone else's kids, night after night. It's possible that Haleigh knows the perpetrator. He or she might have tapped on her bedroom window to wake her up. She went to the back door to let them in. Haleigh would be the most likely to turn on the kitchen light - she is afraid of the dark and would see no reason not to turn on the light. She let them in the door, but they picked her up and took her, playing as if it was a game or adventure - she wouldn't scream - she sees these people every other weekend. They could have done this as early as 10:00 or so, lots of time to get far away. Misty probably did wake up at three a.m., in someone else's trailer - she has to get home before Ronald. This could also be done by a stranger that Haleigh mistook as someone she knew.

Most - okay, many - of us use "they" (and their) as a gender neutral singular pronoun as well as it's usual plural form. It isn't weird in spoken English at all. It's a sort of short hand rather than saying he or she. Like... "Every student should bring their book to class." If you remember your old English lessons, proper form years ago was to use "his" in the case of mixed gender, and proper form today is to use "his or her." "His or her" is cumbersome though, as is "he or she." In basic spoken English people are shifting towards using they. There's some grammatical historical basis for this though - "you" was once a solely a plural pronoun that shifted to both singular and plural usage like "they" seems to be shifting. Think thee, thy, thou - now we just say "you." And as I write this, it occurs to me that I may be a dork for thinking this is interesting... hmm. Ima go watch tv now, kthxbye.

Found this on another site:::: Upon doing further research about this story, I discovered that this is not the first time this little girl has gone missing.
Three years ago, when she was 2 years old, her mother went to pick her up and the father told her he did not know where she was. The mother found her face-down in a canal and revived her.
There was no further information as to how she got there or how the mother found her. She did not report this incident to police, but it was documented in court documents during a custody battle between the parents.
The parents are 22 and 23 years old, with a history of drug abuse. God bless this poor little girl, that has such irresponsible parents.
Someone should really look into whether they are capable of parenting a child.

SECOND TIME I HAVE HEARD SHE WAS FACE DOWN IN WATER HAS THIS BEEN SAID BEFORE?? I MISSED IT??
Maybe she doesn't know what bed she was in because maybe she wasn't there?
Interesting case...and it's so hard not to think that this didn't spring from the Caylee case with the names sounding so much alike Caylee/ Haleigh.. From what I understand the child had some special needs...and at one time ( a few years ago?) the mother filed papers against the father in reference to Haleigh having been found (by her) floating face down in a pool of water....apparenty she was getting the little boy ready to go somewhere and the father was suppose to be watching Haleigh...but when she asked him where she was ...he answered he didn't know...so she went out to look for her and found her floating in some water...
I just think this guys a bad egg and his gf just reminded me of Susan Smith when she did her TV appearance. I think either something happened to Haleigh earlier that evening (or even earlier if the gf's brother and friends didn't even see her then when they were over around 5pm to fix the AC)...or the gf propped the door open because she stepped out for a few minutes to be with another guy...maybe she was gone longer then she thought she would be ...or maybe some guy she was seeing got her out of the house that night so he could send someone in to take the girl......

"We are very hopeful that she is alive ... and we are looking forward to a very positive outcome."
"I'm not sure how many things we found today. I know that to each searcher it was significant," said Texas Equusearch member Barbie Tarr. "It is a sense of accomplishment. At least we know where she's not. We know we've covered some good ground today."
"Based on some of the finds that we found today, we might go back and research an area or we might focus around certain areas," Tarr said.
Friday evening, Channel 4 obtained the original police report that states deputies found what "appeared to be a small child's footprint" in the dirt on a path behind the house on the night Haleigh disappeared.
The discovery was made when officers first arrived and called in K-9 officers to the Cummings' home in the early-morning hours when the girl was reported missing.
According to the report, "The track lead directly out the back door, and down a wooded path. As we traveled down the wooded path, we located what appeared to be a small child's footprint in the dirt."
The report goes on to say, "It should be noted that (Haleigh's father) said Haleigh's shoes were still inside the residence."
The dogs and officers followed the track to a pond and then circled back near the Cummings' home and then out of the neighborhood to a location very near Haleigh's school bus stop.
Dominick Pape, special agent in charge of the Jacksonville office of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, said forensic evidence collected during the investigation such as DNA and fingerprints would be a priority.
About 20 agents are working around the clock at a command center parked near the doublewide mobile home where the girl went missing.
She said no one in her family was made aware of what searchers had found in the woods on Friday. Still, she said the knowing the items were found has reassured the family that their little girl is alive.
"It makes me more hopeful, if it's from the sheriff's office, that maybe they have a lead," Griffiths said.
Haleigh's mother has been asked at least once to identify a girl who FBI agents thought may have been Haleigh.

I wouldn't call this a clue. The little girl lived there and more than likely played there. Could have been made anytime.

Are our hinky meters going off on these people yet?
They passed their lie-detector but also, if she feels she didn't do anything wrong as far as contributing to the taking or demise of Haleigh, she will pass.
Even knowing she went out (if that's what she did), if that question wasn't asked, she will pass. I'm sure it was more on the lines of "Did you have anything to do with the disappearance of Haleigh"? "Did you in anyway harm Haleigh" In her mind, No. Since she didn't harm her or take her.
I'm also thinking these people aren't too bright period.
Who the hell doesn't take a child to the ER after having to resuscitate?
Another thing that is bothering me, he doesn't look at the camera and his tears are what reminds me of Susan Smith. Unless he has lazy eye and looks out the side of his head. Did anyone at work mention his demeanor while there?

Me, too.
I'm sort of leaning toward the gf knowing something and not telling the truth. She's 17 y.o. and responsible for two young children (not her own) during prime time partying hours. I can see her putting the children down for the night, then going out the back door, propping it open so she can get back in, locking everything back up, and boyfriend being none the wiser.
If someone around the neighborhood knew about/saw this, well, this would explain why there was no sign of forced entry.
As for the bio-mom, her reason for not having custody is bullshit; but the father of Haleigh is very well known to local LE. He does seem truly hurting, though, and truthful, unlike his gf. But I just finished catching up on episodes of "Lie to Me" so I was looking at gf's body language (which is how I always knew when the boys were lying to me, that and too much "detail" and information; got them every time).

I havent seen these parents or girlfriend except on here and although I believe the GF knows more then shes telling I think her "filler" of useless crap shes throwing in (blanket with pee etc) is a knee jerk reaction to the fear of being caught in lies and the outcome.Does anyone know if the boyfriend has any DV against him for her or the other mom?? I know I found where Haliegh had said shes been hit before and DFS has been involved before.

WOW thanks Special shes got a great blog!! I agree they need to ask Ron Jr if Haliegh was around after school because thats the last official sighting of her but you really need a specialist to talk to a 2,3 or 4 yr old( I have heard all 3 ages so no clue what age is right).Leonard Padilla may be a media whore but he really seems to care at times and hits alot on the head other times. The thing that bugs me about him is his rewards are time limited.Like the other night he offered I think a 25,000.00 reward if found before midnight I think it was.If you dont want to part with your money dont offer it with time limits just looks cheesey to me.Heres my comment left on Ericas blog;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; ;;; I am also of the belief the Gf wasnt home. She left the kids alone and went out figuring she would be home in time before BF got home from work.Or she went out back to smoke a joint and forgot to lock that door back up as shes claimed it was locked.Just to many things dont add up.Did she have another guy over and he left through the back???Was someone watching her leave the trailor that night??Was this a ongoing occurrance that happened enough for a neighbor to notice and decided to take her and scare them and teach them a lesson only it got so blown up so fast they now have no clue what to do to end it?? I have no clue but I hope and pray that Hailegh is safe and returns soon but not to any of the main characters in this mess.As days go on and more bullshit comes out its amazing this little girl was in any of their custody & hope that Ron Jr is taken into protective custody at least until they sort this shit out!!

Just found this on another site;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
I noticed on the police report that Haleigh is listed as having "Turner Syndrome". I looked this up on Wikipedia and although the abnormalities vary with each person, there can be heart and kidney problems. The affected person can also have short stature (which at 3 feet and five years old seems to be the case) and infertility. Haleigh's mother said that she did get sick alot also. This poor little girl not only has to deal with this Syndrome, but also with two irresponsible, uneducated, and immmature parents. If Hailey returns home safe and sound, I pray that she will get the loving, safe, and supportive home that every child deserves!

I'm not so sure she passed. They certainly haven't cleared her yet. I had to take a polygraph once as a term of employment. I asked if I passed and was told there is no pass or fail.
Some things that bother me. Where did the brick come from? Did they always use it to prop open the door when taking something outside? Why would someone sneaking into a house to steal a child, from the same room a parent/guardian is sleeping, turn on a light? Why did the GF wait until the Dad came home before calling 911?

A document filed by the mother of missing girl Haleigh Cummings claims she wandered off when she was in her father's care in 2005.
The document was filed by Haleigh's mother, Crystal Sheffield, in January 2006. Sheffield filed it after Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings, was granted primary custody by a judge in December 2005.
The motion says "During or about the month of July 2005, Ronald failed to keep control of the toddler Haleigh while she was in his care, and allowed her to wander off. The child was found and rescued by the mother, floating face down in the canal behind the house. The mother rescued and revived the child."
Sheffield said she was outside Ronald's mother's house putting Haleigh's younger brother, Ronald Cummings Jr., in his car seat. She claimed Ronald Cummings Sr. was responsible for Haleigh. Sheffield said she asked Ronald where Haleigh was and he didn't know. She claims she soon found Haleigh in the canal.
Sheffield never called police about this incident and there is no other record of it taking place.
A judge granted primary custody to Ronald after Sheffield failed to appear at the custody hearing.
Ronald told the judge Haleigh has Turner Syndrome and needs hormone treatments by an endocrinologist. He said Sheffield frequently failed to take Haleigh to her doctors appointments.
Haleigh's father also told the judge Sheffield had a drug problem and was unemployed.
Sheffield was granted visitation rights with both of her children. She can see them every other weekend and on certain holidays. The judge also ordered her to pay child support to Ronald.http://www.cbs47.com/content/topstories/story/2005-Documents-Claim-Haleigh-Cummings-Wandered-Off/ecfIOIQdpEyY0r9dGW3W-A.cspx

SATSUMA - Two hundred and fifty volunteers scoured rural Putnam County for signs of Haleigh Cummings, but they failed to find anything suspicious, a Putnam County Sheriff's official said at a televised news conference Saturday afternoon.
Investigators have also determined that several objects they deemed "items of interest" that were found by searchers Friday are not related to Haleigh's disappearance, Chief Deputy Rick Ryan said at the news conference.
Volunteers and law enforcement will continue their search efforts on Sunday, but officials are suspending their dive searches in the nearby St. Johns River, Ryan said.

A lady wrote in to another site and the guy posted her list and they really do make sense I figured Id post them before I went out:::::::Five tip-offs for this arm-chair sleuth:
1. Contradictory statements to begin with. Could be the girl WAS in the same bed to begin with and WET the bed. THEN was put in other bed. Misty talks about her wetting the bed (recently) and she "washed the blanket." If she is 5 year-old girl with Turner's syndrome, living in emotionally and physically abusive environment, further explains why still bedwetter.
2. Father hothead and has lengthy criminal history - also domestic violence, reports of child abuse. Known fact that one of the leading causes of death in children are parents who go berserk due to bedwetting, over-discipline and possibly beat to death. Could have physically assaulted, broken limbs, bruises - only recourse was to throw her in the river, and place cinder block at back door to "cover" himself. Also reports that phone calls between two in early morning hours before he returned home, so if truly missing, he wouldn't have stayed at job 'til finished.
3. His dismay and tears are over what he did, and yes, he wants her back - but not because of abduction that never happened He is remorseful, like many abusers who do it over and over and over. Think sheriff's dept going along with story to get the goods on Dad and girlfriend.
4. Misty going along with story, but because she is young and not real bright, (like Ronald) they have really given themselves away with talk of bedwetting and now knowledge of truancy - in kindergarten of all things - which is another sign of physical abuse and healing injuries.
5. Child missed so much school that bio Mom said if missed anymore, father could be arrested. Contempt of Court entered against father on Mon 2/9 -hours before child went missing. Father didn't want to lose son, lose job, nor go to jail.
Father murdered unintentionally, life in prison. Girlfriend accomplice - serving 30+ years in the big house.
Just something to think about????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????

Deputies believe both the front door and the back door were open when the girlfriend of Haleigh's father noticed she wasn't sleeping in bed next to her early Tuesday morning.
Haleigh's family says she is a smart inquisitive girl and also a light sleeper who they don't believe would have slept through or gone willingly with a stranger
Now, this is the first time I heard the front door was also open. They even have a video on the site and says the same thing. Did anyone else here the front door was open as well?
The door was standing open several inches and the screen door was propped open with a cinder block, but police say they're not sure what that means. Okay this is another first I've seen cinder block. Wish all the news would give same information.
Police confirmed that both Ronald and Misty have taken polygraph tests and they are "satisfied" with the results.
Ronald told AMW on the evening of Feb. 12, 2009 that there were two beds in the room where Misty and the children were sleeping.
Ronald said Misty and Junior were in one bed and Haleigh was sleeping in another, a few feet away.
Misty originally told police that all three of them were sleeping in the same bed, according to Inv. Merchant.
Though the family is staying in the area, the house is roped off and the family has not been allowed back inside.

This case has some unusual components that make an average person such as myself wonder. Why was Haleigh's father's girlfriend sleeping in the same room as his daughter? How could she not have heard someone come into the room and take the little girl out of her bed when her own was so close by? I cannot imagine the little girl not making some kind of noise. If she did not know the person taking her she probably would have fought and if she did she would have asked where she was going. Five year olds are inquisitive. Either way she would have caused some kind of disturbance that should have woken her father's girlfriend up. The question of why her father had a seventeen year old girlfriend to begin with is not one I am going to go into at this point.
Now, I brought this here because I think we all would agree that this woman writer's questions are the same we are asking ourselves.

I know the GF is not the kids mother...but I know somethimes my kids sleep with me. Not the little one...but my 4 yr old...wont go in his bed unless my husband is home and puts him to night nights. If Daddy's not home...he has to sleep in my bed until he gets home...then he just puts him in his bed and hes fine. Ends up back in my bed every single night. But I guess thats besides the point!
Maybe when their Dad is gone...they sleep with her cuz they are scared...and when Daddy gets home they go in their own beds. I dont find that unusual. I find it unusual that if the kids have their own room...why is there an extra bed in Daddy's room?
Also...does the girlfriend actually LIVE there...or does she just stay there when he is at work to watch the kids?...If she just stays there and not lives there...that could explain her going out and leaving the back door propped open???? They don't let family search in cases like this, so I don't know why he'd be criticised for this. Law enforcement doesn't want someone like a parent or grandparent to, say, find their dead and mutilated child.
And ya know what gets me too is if there is all this prior child abuse/neglect....Haleigh face down in the pond, etc.....why exactly was he allowed to still have custody? AND ...if bio mom did have custody...we prob never would have heard of Haleigh cuz maybe she would still be alive today??? Well...I am assuming there...I guess I should have said missing. But you all know the odds. God I hope I am WRONG!!!!!!!!
That pond story sounds like utter crap the mother made up in her effort to get custody. Crazy parents make up all sorts of things to sway custody in their direction. The courts clearly didn't buy it anyway.
And that school thing - arrested for amount of school missed?? That must be more bullshit from bitter bio mom. Florida's compulsory education laws only apply to children between 6 and 16. You're not required by law to send your 5yr old at all.

I was just wondering. After discovering that this town had 44 SO's living near Haleigh, has anyone else gone and checked their own area?
We have 6 in a 5 mile radius. Considering the lack of population here, that's high IMO. I am sure there are few more who haven't registered lurking about.

Ok.. here are some of my thoughts that I havent EXACTLY seen posted.. (I believe I've read everything, but I did skip somethings I thought were repeats) and let me state for the record...I do not believe, by any of these thoughts that the "family" is clear.. I'm really undecided on this...
1. Could Misty be "changing" her sleeping story because she is a minor and dosent want dad to get in trouble?? (living together, in same bed as him.. maybe by saying she sleeps in different bed wont get him in trouble for rape... just trying to think as a teenager)
2. No offense meant at all, but "all family members" here dont seem to be that ..."fully educated"... their stories could sound weird to us since we dont really live like that. (I go visit my parents and they live in a town that is like being on another planet)
3. The bed wetting.. I, myself, didnt see a video that said that. I completely attest that I havent seen every one of them.. But what I saw was "the blanket smelled like pee" or something similar. My hubby and I get in agruements alot because I expect detail to be exactly correct when someone says it. He doesnt. so, maybe it really only "smelled" bad. Maybe she didnt soak the bed, like a normal bed wetting. ?? IDK
4. Where is Mistys family? Does she go to school? work? (I have seen those questions posted..but never answered) I know a 17 y/o, yes.. in my parents town.. that does not go to school and smokes...and probably lives with a guy.. never asked...but, its not totally uncommon.
Ok, thanks for listening. I do feel that the "answers" lie within the family and this wont take long to solve. But, thats just my late night thinking!!

The door was standing open several inches and the screen door was propped open with a cinder block, but police say they're not sure what that means.
The block, along with other undisclosed evidence, was taken from the home to a crime lab in Jacksonville, Fla. Investigators have put a rush on DNA testing of the block and other items.

Madmama, that is a great idea for everyone to check out! I'm not sure if it's the same one I used, I donated $10.00 for a lifetime use on the one I have (i'll check my link).
We live in a beautiful, very nice neighborhood, but I have 3 within half a mile of me. One just one street away, one just two streets away and one on the other side of the main road at the end of our street. (We live on a dead end road that ends up at the opening of a golf course).
We also have a huge park right behind us, so those pedos live next to the childrens park!!!!
Where my son in laws sister lives on the other side of town, there are 63 within a 4 mile radius of her and she has an 8 year old daughter that she lets run the neighborhood by herself! I'm always lecturing her about that, and Joey never goes to their house! His cousin always comes here. And one of us adults are always out in the back yard with them.

Well consider yourselves lucky to even have that available to you. Here in Canada theres no registry to check it out.I found that out few yrs ago when a little boy (9) spending night at grammas in a building a friend managed was raped and murdered.Gramma got called to work so PEDO boyfriend offered to stay and sit.Well no one knew he was a convicted sex offender, there was no way for anyone to know or be able to check.I called R.C.M.P and a officer answered and I asked what the internet addy was for us to call and be able to check people or addys out.My friend in P.A had sent me the American site that you enter your addy and all the PEDOS will show up on the map.So I was curiuose and called and was told in verbatim"Canada doesnt have a registered offenders web site because we have a privacy act here and they are entitled to privacy".I swear to god thats what I was told, anyone can call any O.P.P or R.C.M.P office they will tell you the same thing. If we had that alot more kids including Brandon would still be alive.

Sadly this is the latest update on the search for Haleigh really doesnt seem extremely important right now.Although I know everyones been confused over the sleeping arrangements.Id rather see an update of" HALEIGHS FOUND HAVING SLEEPOVER WITH PRINCESS AT DISNEY WORLD" but I know thats a bit much so heres all I can give you:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::Investigator s still searching for Haleigh Cummings;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;A teenager is disputing reports that she was sleeping beside a 5-year-old girl who vanished from her north Florida home.
Haleigh Cummings was last seen Monday night in her father's mobile home in a heavily wooded area north of Satsuma, about 70 miles north of Orlando. She was reported missing when her 25-year-old father returned home from work early Tuesday.
According to initial reports, the father's 17-year-old girlfriend, Misty Croslin, had been sleeping next to the girl. Croslin told reporters Thursday that she had been sleeping beside Haleigh's younger brother.
Croslin said Haleigh was in her own bed when the 17-year-old went to sleep. When Croslin awoke hours later, the teen said Haleigh "was gone."
Investigators are calling Haleigh's disappearance an abduction.

PALATKA, Fla. -- After a sixth day of searching for 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings turned up "nothing of significance," authorities said they are close to wrapping up the ground operation and on Sunday moved the command center from the neighborhood to the Putnam County emergency operations center.
Ryan said that other than a couple of select areas, they were suspending the search and focusing more on the investigation, which was the reason the command center was moved from a trailer in Satsuma to county offices in Palatka, where more telephones and better Internet access would help the investigators processing more than 500 leads that have come in.
"We're just as enthusiastic today about it as we were on day one," Ryan said, while also saying that going nearly a week without a sighting or solid lead is frustrating.
Ryan dismissed reports that a missing or absconded sexual predator from nearby Marion County was connected to Haleigh's disappearance. While a warrant is out for the arrest of Chad Reynolds, Ryan said deputies checked out reports that the offender had connections or family ties in Putnam County and found them unfounded.
"Everybody's here for you," Sheffield said. "If you're watching these, your momma misses you, daddy misses you ... your whole family misses you and we will bring you home."
Oh this doesn't sound to promising does it. Oh I feel so blah. What do the mean they have gone from searching to investigating. I hope they find Haleigh, this is so sad, where is she.

I wonder if there was a lesson to be learned from the Cayle Anthony disappearance. The body was found 1/4 mile from the house. It would be interesting to see statistics on how far most people travel to hide a body. I think if mine were missing I would go up the trailers ass with a microscope, freeze everybody and slowly work the search out, radiating in a circle. If they had done that with Cayle, it would have been over much sooner. Maybe that's what they are doing I don't know. But sounds like they are not searching too aggressively.
Pour the coals on the search early, that is the only chance.

25 year old Chad Eugene Reynolds, a registered sex offender is missing in Florida. Chad Eugene Reynolds was last seen on February 1, 2009 when he left his mother’s home at 3 Bay Court Run in Ocklawaha on that Sunday to watch the Super Bowl at a local bar. Reynolds was reported missing on February 4. Ocklawaha is about 2 hours away from Satsuma, FL where Haleigh Cummings went missing. Haleigh Cummings was last seen on the night of February 9 at approximately 10 pm. Could there possibly be a connection?
Scared Monkeys had previously reported that there were 44 sex offenders within a 5 mile radius of the Cummings’ home. However, could what police are leaning towards in an abduction been committed by a sex offender outside that 5 mile radius?
Chad Eugene Reynolds, 25, was last seen Feb. 1 leaving his mother’s home in Ochlawaha, Fla. — about two hours from Haleigh’s home — police said. He was reported missing on Feb. 4.

Chad Eugene Reynolds, 25, was last seen Feb. 1 leaving his mother's home in Ochlawaha, Fla. — about two hours from Haleigh's home — police said. He was reported missing on Feb. 4.
Reynolds reportedly borrowed a car from a friend and then later called to say the vehicle had broken down near the Marion/Lake County Lines, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office. The car was located in an undisclosed location south of Marion County, but Reynolds was nowhere to be found.
Reynolds was sentenced in Putnum County — the same county where Haleigh was reported missing Feb. 10 — to seven years in prison for armed burglary and lewd and lascivious molestation of a child younger than 12. The incident happened in September of 2002.
Authorities said their first concern is Reynolds' safety, but added that he will likely be arrested for failing to report to his probation officer.
Reynolds was released in November and is on 10 years of community supervision, Ocala.com reports.
As a registered sexual predator, Reynolds is required to report to his mother's house everyday, according to Ocala.com.
"We're handling it like any missing and endangered person. We're concerned for his safety because his mother said he hasn't done anything like this before," Marion County Sheriff's Capt. Tommy Bibb said.

http://i359.photobucket.com/albums/oo35/Special2bme/bilde-16.jpg OCALA - Marion County sheriff's deputies are looking for a sexual predator who has been missing since Feb. 1.
Deputies say Chad Eugene Reynolds, 25, left his mother's home at 3 Bay Court Run in Ocklawaha on that Sunday to watch the Super Bowl at a local bar.
That was the last time anyone reported seeing him.
"We're handling it like any missing and endangered person. We're concerned for his safety because his mother said he hasn't done anything like this before," sheriff's Capt. Tommy Bibb said.
At this time, he stressed, finding Reynolds out of concern for his safety is their focus.
If found, however, Reynolds will likely be arrested for violation of probation because he hasn't reported to his probation officer.
Also, in light of the search in Putnam County for missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings, Maj. Chris Blair said the Marion County Sheriff's Office has contacted the Putnam Sheriff's Office about the missing sexual predator.
According to the Florida Department of Corrections Web site, Reynolds was sentenced in Putnam County to seven years in prison for armed burglary and lewd and lascivious molestation of a child younger than 12. The offense date was Sept. 3, 2002.
He was released in November 2008 and is currently on 10 years of community supervision.
The missing man's mother, Debora Reynolds, told deputies he had borrowed a vehicle from a woman by the name of Amy Baker and drove it from the bar. Reynolds' mother told deputies his license is suspended.
Chad Reynolds reportedly called Baker and told her he was at the Wal-Mart in Summerfield and that the vehicle had broken down.
By the time Baker got there, Reynolds had gone. Baker later found her vehicle in Sumter County along U.S. 441. Baker told deputies the last time she spoke to Reynolds was 2:15 a.m. the following Monday. Five minutes after that call, Reynolds called his mother's home but did not leave a message. On Feb. 3, a man identified only as "Ryan" told deputies he received a call from Reynolds; however, he did not speak with him because the phone was disconnected as soon as he said hello.
Deputies contacted Reynolds' place of employment, Longhorn Steakhouse restaurant in Sumter County, and was told by the manager that Reynolds had not reported to work for two days.
Reynolds' mother said her son is a registered sexual predator and that he's required to report at her address every day. Concerned for his safety, she called the Sheriff's Office on Feb. 5 to report that he was missing.
Anyone with information can call the Sheriff's Office at 732-9111 or Crime Stoppers at 368-STOP, or visit www.ocalacrimestoppers.com.

10:30 a.m. Texas EquuSearch, the volunteer group that helped search for missing Haleigh Cummings over the weekend, should be wrapping up about noon today.
Putnam County sheriff's Lt. Johnny Greenwood said this morning that EquuSearch volunteers have searched all of the wooded areas near Haleigh's residence. Many of those spots have been scoured two or three times.
Today, sheriff's investigators are focusing on a "few areas of interest" from some of the tips they've received, Greenwood said.
Greenwood couldn't say what type of locations or how many investigators would be searching today.
The Sheriff's Office may hold another press conference late this afternoon, but Greenwood said it likely will just be a routine update on the case.
7 a.m. Volunteers are not joining Putnam County deputies this morning in the search efforts for the missing 5-year-old girl.

PALATKA - Misty Croslin has been the girlfriend of Haleigh Cummings' father, Ronald Cummings, for five months, lives in his house and has been the primary caretaker of Haleigh and her younger brother, Croslin told The Sun on Friday.
The 17-year-old said that she loves the children as if they were her own and that they love her.
"I always stay with the kids," she said. "I had them 24/7, except for the four days out of the month when they would go to their mom's."
Croslin is a central figure in the disappearance of Haleigh from the Cummings home on Tuesday morning.
Cummings was at work when Croslin woke up to use the bathroom and discovered Haleigh missing from the home at about 3 a.m.
The children and Croslin were asleep in the master bedroom — Haleigh on one bed close to the television set and Croslin and Ronald Cummings Jr., 3, in another bed, Croslin said Friday.
Croslin said she is originally from Michigan and has lived in Florida for about seven years. Croslin has lived in various parts of the state, including Daytona Beach, where she lived with her brother.
Initial trips to Palatka were to visit her parents, and Croslin said she did not like the community.
"It's country," she said. "I'm not used to the country. I'm city."
Croslin said she has not attended school in some time, adding that she had signed up for GED classes but did not attend.
Croslin said Cummings regularly works the night shift and that she watches the children while he's at work. Haleigh was often driven to school and typically took the bus home, she said.
Croslin said that despite being 17, she has considerable experience caring for children.
"I've been baby-sitting since I was 11," she said. "I have three nieces and two nephews and one on the way, and I've watched all of them."

The ground search for a missing Putnam County girl will end today.
Crews have been searching for Haleigh Cummings since Tuesday, when the 5-year-old vanished from her Satsuma home.
Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy said about 50 volunteers with Texas EquuSearch, including some on horseback, are combing areas of thick brush and marshland. The search area was widened beyond the initial five miles from the girl's home.
Investigators have said the value of a ground search has lessened.
Deputies believe the girl was abducted.
Since the search began, investigators have found several items of interest.
Haleigh was being watched by Misty Croslin,17, the girlfriend of Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings, when the girl vanished from his doublewide trailer.

I apologize if this has already been posted.
Ronald and Misty On Greta Van Susteren, (2/14), her boyfriend kept correcting her story. Anyone else smell deception and defensiveness? And how she keeps referring to the abductor as "them" or "they"...nervous, maybe...odd for sure.
I got to say, the more I hear her speak, the more I'm convinced she knows what happened to Haleigh. I'm thinking she did something she doesn't want Ronald to know about: left he children unattended as she meet with someone else or let someone else in the home unbeknown to Ronald, and put the children in danger...some other guy, a perv.
What if this twat, had some pervy guy over and when she/they fell asleep this perv. got to Haliegh and took her. She finds Haleigh missing. Why does she wash the blanket? remove evidence?
Also, she keeps looking down and to the left in the interview, that is indicative of someone who is lying or just not been all together truthful....smells like shit, it probably is shit.

Any thoughts as to what IF the "girlfriend" (who looks like a CHILD herslef!) was partying w/ the "neighborhood boys" (AKA sex offenders) while her boyfriend was at work? This case stinks...the whole situation and the way the events played out. She happened to be on the phone w/ 9-1-1 when the dad came home? Her attitude and demeanor seemed to me like she was high or doped up? The dad seems concerned but cautious...like he is hiding something too? I don't think the dad has anything to do w/ the abduction and the crime, but it just doesn't add up and she's still missing! As is the convicted neighborhood sex offender.
It's so sad she's out there somewhere, dead or alive, and they are not searching any longer. I realize they have limited resources and manpower, but Jesus H Christ - if that was your kid you would want someone out there 24/7 until that child was found! Anyone would! I just hope she is not suffering...I don't have much hope they will find her alive and well.

I think the "pop up" comments on that video are misleading. This girl is 17 for god's sake...SEVENTEEN. I don't know many adults that would handle hours and hours of interviews and repeated questioning, probably not eating well, probably not sleeping well. They probably gave her something for her nerves too. She looks exhausted and doped up. I refuse to tear this child to shreds until somebody gives me some proof that she has done SOMETHING.
It was clear that Casey Anthony was worthy of shredding. I'm reserving my judgment on this girl right now. If she breaks and spills something, that'll be great for the investigation and for finding out what happened to Haleigh but right now, she's been CLEARED.

SoU, I agree she is just 17 and I sure as hell don't know how hard it would be to deal with all the stress and being nervous and interviews. I guess we are all grasping at straws, anything to give us an indication what might really have happened. And I don't mean to throw her to the dogs without conclusive evidence...I think we are all just tossing ideas and speculations at this point.
Still I do think she's holding back on something. Besides being tired, nervous, stressed, etc. I don't think she has kept her facts straight from the get go. Also, Ronald, corrects her a couple of times, either she's not saying it the way she told him or he coached her....I don't know.

Whether she has stories straight or not, I am still withholding my judgment on her.
At this point, she's been cleared. Seems to me that the local cops, FDLE and the FBI have not found anything wrong with her so far. If she did do something wrong, they'll crack her.
This is just "lynch mob" mentality. Same thing that happened with the whole Caylee story. It's obvious in that case the Casey was a lying sack of shit and is in jail.

Yea.... I know........I just get so frustrated when kids go missing and it breaks my heart, and her story has changed...or has been inconsistant. Could be blamed on her age...I mean yes....she IS a child herself...I am sure she is scared. But I just get so frustrated...I want the baby found...right now...Alive!
I just dont know if I were that Dad...if I would be so supportive of the GF. I guess time will tell.

The more I ponder over this, the more I am leaning towards the father.
It's very easy for a boy or a man to manipulate a 17 year old. If she is solely responsible in anyway, it would only be because she went out. I don't think she harmed Hayleigh and now I'm casting that aside because someone would have come forward by now. Right?
She does look drugged up almost incoherent in the interviews. That is probably the meds they have her on for nerves. As for her intelligence level, obviously she has parents who don't give a rats ass about her because they allowed her to go take up housekeeping with an older man. She probably was lacking in her education throughout school with no one to care. This girl has a story and it's most likely not pretty. Of course this is all speculation on my part.
Who is bothering me the most is the boyfriend, Hayleigh's father. He is the one who won't look at the cameras. -the same way the Anthony's wouldn't. That bothers me greatly. I feel he is directing her in some way or controlling her in some way and I feel for her because she too is a child. There is something about leaning to the left vs leaning to the right in body and turning your eyes to detect lying. Can't remember which and daughter (psych maj) isn't home to ask.
If the FBI or LE cleared her it's either because they know she had no part in it, or they are using her as a tool. I don't know if they can arrest on the polygraph alone. Would need more evidence. Anyway, the more she talks the more she contradicts and the worse he looks IMO.
Biggest mistake with the Anthony case, was arresting too soon. Remember?
Immediately they have an attorney and stop squawking.
One thing I noticed, when interviewing the mother on NG, you could hear her sniffling. Not fake. But when he's crying there's no sniffling, nothing but the noise. Surely after all that crying you'd see the evidence on his face.

BECAUSE she was the last and only known "adult" (and she's NOT an adult, she's a child, you're right about that! So WHY would her adult father leave his kids w/ his TEENAGED girlfriend while he works?!) w/ Haleigh Cummings before she vanished!
Let's set aside the fact she is the father's GIRLFRIEND and he has 2 young children (where is their mother?) of his own to raise and take care of - let's say it's your 17 yr old babysitter. You come home and your child is gone and the babysitter is on the phone w/ 9-1-1. WHO do you question? Who do you interrogate? Who do you look to for answers? You don't know dick b/c you weren't home. The other child is young and asleep. WHO IS THERE TO QUESTION? She needs to be awake every fucking moment that little girl is gone. She needs to be stressed out and worried. She keeps changing her story b/c she's lying! She knows more than she's saying and we'll all find out never soon enough what really went down that night! I don't trust it and I don't buy one bit of it...
FUCK HER and what's she's going through or feeling - WHAT ABOUT HALEIGH?! Her 17 yr old stoner ass should not have been left w/ 2 young kids to care for. I bet she was blowing the sex offender and he wanted Haleigh and she was too stoned to care or notice!

I doubt that. For some reason I think he is 'innocent', if there is such a thing for him? I don't think he had any part in her disappearance, but I don't think he was doing his damn job as a parent by leaving his 2 young children in care of 17 yr old. And WTF is he doing dating a 17 yr old anyways?! Where are HER parents in this situation?!

Right and wrong. Right it's easy to manipulate a 17 yr old - obviously one w/ a grown man w/ 2 young kids and her parents don't interfere doesn't really have a home base to speak of...
I don't think she's SOLELY responsible...it has something to do w/ neighbors. She had the access to the little girl, the kids were left w/ HER. She shares some responsibility, not solely though.
Wrong that someone would have come forward by now. Whoever did this is gonna run til they can't run anymore.

I call BULLSHIT on this theory. I don't think crying or public display conveys emotion...or is the only way you can convey it. I can only speak for myself, but I know as different people we all deal w/ things differently. Naturally, if they were to be laughing and joking we would think they were crazy and insensitive. But just b/c he doesn't cry openly doesn't mean he's not suffering. I have seen people laugh in unfunny situations and they say it's a nervous reaction or whatever. I have seen people completely composed in horrifying situations and I think they have guts of steel. I don't know...I just can't say he's guilty or unfeeling b/c he doesn't cry. We all deal w/ shit different...

He has been crying, that's the point I'm trying to make and in all his tears there's no snot or visible tears. Like it's put on. Just little things that bug me about him. Funny thing is, they act the same but you have some who feel it's her and some who feel it's him.

Mama, I believe< A polygraph is not admissible in court and can never be sole cause for an arrest. It is basically a tool to pressure people and guide LE.

We don't know where LE's mind is at right now, I just don't see them making the same mistakes we've seen done in other recent cases. The case in particular that instructed others on what NOT to do. -just sayin'.
One good thing about GA showing up is it reminded them of this, in case they were being complacent. :lollypop:

Authorities will scale back the hunt for missing Florida girl Haleigh Cummings after extensive searches for the girl turned up no new leads, The Gainesville Sun reported Monday.
Despite tips and a search involving 250 volunteers — including Texas EquuSearch, a volunteer search group — investigators are baffled about the whereabouts of the 5-year-old.
"This is frustrating," Chief Deputy Rick Ryan of the Putnam County Sheriff's Department said in a Sunday news conference. "This is not 'CSI.' We can't wrap this up in an hour."
Ryan told The Sun that the sheriff's office will search two more smaller areas on Monday before ending the ground search.
Investigators continue to interview family members, their friends and others. Everyone is considered a potential person of interest.
"The family has been extremely cooperative and happy with our efforts," Chief Deputy Ryan said Saturday.

My thoughts are that Haleigh is no longer alive. When she is recovered I think the story will unfold and all will be known. I hope the father has nothing to do with this...he, is, her, FATHER. I hope is the same for Misty...she was like a big sister or even a second mom to Haleigh. I want to be wrong on everything I have said...please let me be wrong.
I pray Haleigh will be found alive and well.

Stop saying this in every story where the dad has custody. You know where the mother is. She is right there with the dad. He had custody, she had visitation. If it was reversed you wouldn't mention it. The bio mom did nothing wrong and certainly didn't deserve to have this happen.
PoongyPrincess
February 16th, 2009, 08:31 PM
This is an excellent theory. Have you thought about calling the police in Florida to let them hear what you think? It might help them out. :proud2:

I would hope that LE has thought about that theory since they had been going through a custody battle. I also read this weekend in one article I found, that both the bio mom and dad had a drug problem. However, I think the bio mom's drug problem was much worse than the dad's. I gave it a thought that maybe the bio mom wanted her daughter back and hired someone to get her but if that were the case why wouldn't she want her son. So I dropped that theory pretty quickly.
I just pray Haleigh is found and unharmed but my gut is telling me otherwise. At this time I cannot say really what I think because I need to hear more facts. Maybe once they get DNA back on the cinder block/brick or whatever they took from the trailer they may have more information that may prove promising.

You know, if they'd invented this story, I can't see why they'd insist that the backdoor had to be locked. Why not go with 'usually we don't use the door, we usually keep it locked, so we don't check it... Maybe it was unlocked.' And why come up with the lamest ever theory when asked to speculate (they were asked to speculate, they didn't just throw it out there,) about lock picking? It seems so much more plausible that someone was already in the house when they went to bed, someone was in it earlier and left the door unlocked for a return, someone somehow had a key that worked, or someone simply came in a different way, like the front door or a window, and only exited the back with the child. I'm just saying.. someone picked our sticky back door is weak storytelling. I don't think they want to speculate - in an earlier interview dad there refused - and they're not very bright or creative at it either. It lends to their credibility for me anyhow. If they'd sat down to invent a story, they'd have gone for better entrace plausibility.

i tend to give misty some slack on where the kid was sleeping in relation to her. i suck at spacial relations and i can relate - even though 4 inches was a dorky amount to throw out there. but when greta balked, misty was trying to guage with her hands and she said "both of these chairs put together" which is like 4 feet. and then greta said "so as close as ronald is to you?" and misty said "yeah" probably to get her off her back. or bc she is used to being dumb when it comes to measuring. and then ron gets all whiny bc that is not right. bc he is a dude who knows measuring.
but really, this story is a hard one. (thats what she said)
i want to hear from the 3 year old. if we can. do you think a three year old will be able to tell us if dad hurt hayleigh before he left for work or if hayleigh was really in the bed when they all went to sleep? or could jr tell us if people came over sometimes?
bc the most plausible story is that dad hurt her and ditched her body. the second most plausible is that someone was inside and then snuck away with her (no lock to deal with). then the third is that someone came in while misty was gone. and the fourth is the story that we are being fed. imo
