I believe Ron does not work on Friday evenings after he gets off of work at 3am. I think he went to look for Misty as she had taken off with Amber and Nay Nay. He got into a fight with someone and maybe even took some of their drugs, money etc (property?). He did not find her.

I think Amber and Nay Nay (and some guys) showed up at Ron and Misty’s house Monday and said to Misty “let’s party”. Misty propped open the door and put the light on in the kitchen and they sat in the car to “smoke” or whatever (they do not smoke in the house and the kids were inside asleep). After Misty was good and stoned one of the guys went in and grabbed Haleigh (wrapping her in a blanket) while other’s restrained Misty. She screamed at them as they took off (sound of woman screaming and loud car late that night heard by neighbors). Why? to pay Ronald back for whatever he did and stole while looking for Misty.

I do not believe they were going to hurt the child but with this blowing up into a national case, who knows. I pray they have stashed her somewhere and are waiting for the right time to let her go.

Ron said he was pretty sure he knew who who had done this (75% sure). Maybe he went to get Jordan and “stash” him to force Amber to reveal where Haleigh is or bring her back? This is the first theory that seems to fit. It would also explain his comment about “this is not just property, it is flesh and blood” (or something to that affect).

Dear Lord I pray that this is close to what happened and that little child is OK. Maybe, just maybe this will have a good outcome if it is handled right!

Exclusive Police Tape Reporting Ronald Cummings Drive By

It was Sunday night about 10 p.m. when a frightened grandmother called the Putnam County Sheriff. Mary Brooks had just spotted the father of missing five year old Haleigh Cummings cruising through her parking lot in his purple Nissan Altima.

“You know Ronald Cummings, whose daughter is missing?” Mary Brooks asked the dispatcher on the exclusive police audio tape obtained by The Bald Truth.

“Yes, Maam,” replied the officer.

“He was driving through my parking lot tonight,” explained the grandmother of Amber Brooks, an ex Cummings girlfriend who gave birth to his disabled son, Jordan.

“I have custody of his son he claimed he didn’t have; he’s one year old and I’m very leary about that,” Mary Brooks went on. “(Ronald) and his new wife (Misty)…drove through here, and about an hour later, some guy come knocking on my door, and I didn’t answer it.”

There was no reason for Cummings to be in her ‘hood, she figured–except one: She feared he might be trying to take the toddler he’d fathered with Amber. Jordan was staying with her.

With no legal custody order in place, Cummings would be well within his rights to demand she hand over the child, as the biological father, say family law experts, even though Brooks says her ex has barely seen the child since he was born, and pays no child support.

Not to mention Amber’s predicament as a 20 year old mother in a world of trouble, busted early the next morning (Monday) for cocaine possession, and bailed out later that day by private investigator William Staubs, aka, Cobra, who also bonded out Misty Cummings’ party girl pal, Kristina Prevatt, 19, on similar drug charges.

She goes by the nickname, Nay Nay.

It was Prevatt who drove Misty on her wild weekend of drugs, sex and rock and roll with “White Boy Greg” Page, according to police and interviews I’ve done with her and her friends, a party that ended only 36 hours before Misty reported Haleigh had vanished from the trailer the 17 year old babysitter shared with Ronald.

While a local preacher who monitors police scanners tells me he’s certain he heard a dispatcher report Junior came to the door to ask for Jordan, the police tape we’ve obtained has no mention of that. Palatka police officials told me they will ask the Putnam County Sheriff to review other audio traffic in case such an incident was reported.

Mary Brooks did say on the police tape that she “peeked out my peep hole” and saw a “thin, black guy, maybe a friend of (Ronald’s). He does not need to be here, claiming, you know, bothering me about the baby he said he didn’t have.”

“When he came through, did he stop at all or drive through?” asked the officer, according to the tape.

“He just cruised through and my daughter was coming through and they passed each other, and she (saw) his new wife…I’m the great grandmother, and I have custody of the baby and I’m very upset…”

“OK, I’m going to get an officer out there,” says the dispatcher. “If he comes back, just call me back and don’t open the door.”

“Thank you,” said Brooks.

When officers drove through the neighborhood looking for Cummings, they didn’t see his car, but did interview Amber’s grandmother. No report was filed because there was no evidence a crime had been committed, Palatka police officials told me.

April 24, 2009

Richard Campbell, a detective with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, resigned April 14, 2009, while the subject of an internal investigation for being untruthful. Campbell had been accused of lying under oath during a drug trafficking trial in a Putnam County Circuit Court on April 9, 2009.

The internal investigation began when Campbell was accused of violating a Sheriff’s Office general order that states in part; “any person who willfully departs from the truth either in giving testimony, in official reports, in connection with an official order received by him, or in official duties..is subject to disciplinary action.”

The investigation determined that during a drug trafficking trial, Campbell and another officer were outside of the courtroom after the other officer had testified. In violation of Judge Ed Hedstrom’s rule for witness sequestration, the two discussed the other officer’s testimony. When the court learned of the violation, Judge Hedstrom called each officer into the courtroom separately. The other officer admitted the violation, but Campbell lied to Judge Hedstrom and denied the conversation took place.

Immediately upon learning of the violation, Chief of Staff Rick Ryan suspended Campbell on April 9th, and the internal investigation was initiated. During the course of the investigation Campbell decided to resign. Richard Campbell had been a deputy with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office since July, 2003.

On April 15, 2009, the internal investigation was completed, and determined that Richard Campbell had indeed violated the Sheriff’s Office general order by “departing from the truth in giving testimony.” The findings of the investigation will be forwarded to the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission for review and possible revocation of Campbell’s law enforcement certification. Any decision regarding criminal prosecution will be made by the State Attorney’s Office.

Sheriff Jeff Hardy believes that an officer’s integrity is of extreme importance. He has taken a strong stance that any untruthfulness, in violation of the Sheriff’s Office general order, will not be tolerated.

I asked if Campbell had investigated a case involving RC– arrested him or had any official ties…I forgot to ask if same applied to MC, CS, WBG, Nay Nay, Amber B, et al. But Capt. Schauland assured me he has had nothing to do with anyone in the Haleigh case in the past.

“Does he know Ronald?” I asked about the departed officer.

“You’ll have to ask him,” said the Captain.

I wondered if there will be a review of cases he’s worked on or investigated to clear the air of any other appearance of impropriety. Some defense lawyers would have a field day with this, using it to stir the pot, try to get convicted clients a new trial…

Meanwhile, let’s commend the sheriff for taking swift disciplinary action.

Just got word that a formal report has been filed with the police concerning the guys in the red pickup truck.

White woman walking dog was approached by two men in a red pickup truck who offered her $50 to tell them where White Boy Greg lives. They also threated to light up the neighborhood when she refused to tell them.

She took the tag number down and reported it to the PD- one of the men in the car was Lester Cummings, Ron's father. And the red truck is registered to Annette Sykes.


This information can be obtained via public records.

Officers involved in filing the report were Walsh & Street.

Also- I heard that Misty's father Hank Croslin was taken to the hospital yesterday due to an adverse reaction to prescription meds that were obtained illegally. And that he reported that the pills were provided by Ron Cummings.

Apparently when these things happen, the hospital has to report it to the State Attorney's office. And this incident was reported.

Some more info for anyone interested in sleuthing Chad Griffis ex wife Hellen Roxanne Griffis-

Also known by last name of B (first husband) or E (third husband). Chad is the second husband.

Mr. B (don't know first name) first husband- she has two kids with him. She lost custody of these kids because of her drug abuse, neglect and abuse of the children. At least one of these kids now lives with the paternal grandmother.

Jerry E is third husband- lives in Raiford FL

Roxy was missing for three days when haleigh went missing- she and her brother Jerry Ray stole a red dodge pickup truck and took off.

Allegedly Ron has ties to Roxy- from the time Chad was married to her and Crystal was with Ron.

Roxy hates Crystal because she's raising her kids and has made several threats to ruin her relationship with Chad.

When I heard all of this- about Roxy missing for three days at the time Haleigh disappeared- and the fact that she and Ron maintained a relationship after their respective breakups- and that that relationship was rooted in drugs, I began to wonder if they may have worked together to hurt Crystal by making Haleigh disappear.

I report what I get from the horse’s mouth. I will not report what I have agreed not to but felt it important to pass on that investigators believe whoever took Haleigh or may have had a role in her kidnapping was someone known to the family, or will turn out to be someone the family knows. That is the working theory…I’m not getting into drugs and motives or anything you raise unless I get it from people on or close to the case with access to what investigators are looking at.

Sources tell me all the registered sex offenders have been checked and those with ankle monitors tracked by satellite, with gps locations mapped, were not at or near the Cummings trailer, for example. If the predator were not known to the family and turned out to be the snatcher, that would shock investigators…That would be a stranger abduction. So unlike, say the Atlanta Child Murders, almost 30 years ago when a serial killer was on the loose, the city was riddled with fear, and parents were keeping children close, the Haleigh snatcher is not believed to be a predator or serial killer looking for other children. That doesn’t mean watch your children any less, just that the level of fear should be lowered. Hope that helps, J.

Last night I ran across a Chad Cummings, believe it or not. I was looking at FDLE warrants check site.

I found some other interesting stuff while on there -

1995 - An elderly woman in St. Johns County named Cummings disappeared; never found.

There are piles of Cummings with outstanding warrants in FL. [Not that I am in any way implying that any are related to Ron.]

Haleigh's Amber Alert is no longer active, at least according to FDLE.

To co-workers within earshot of Ronald Cummings at Palatka, Florida’s PDM Bridge, Misty Croslin sounded hysterical when she called one night weeks before the 17 year old babysitter reported his daughter, Haleigh, had vanished while he was at work and she was asleep with the kids.

“I remember she called him in tears, because the little girl was giving her fits and he told her, ‘Whip her, just whip her and make her be quiet,’” recalls fellow crane operator Eric Zastrow, 32, in an exclusive interview with The Bald Truth. “He said, ‘Just whip the little brat, she needs to understand it’s time to go to bed, or put a movie in for her.’ Then he hung up.”

Also a night shift crane operator, Zastrow told me he was working with Cummings “on the yard” from the time PDM hired Haleigh’s father in October last year until Ronald was fired in early April. The reason: failing to let the company know he was coming back, a spokesman tells me.

A PDM staffer confirmed Zastrow worked on the same yard as Cummings. He also told me that on another night when Misty phoned and put Haleigh on, her father sounded as sugary as cane syrup. “Hey Baby, how you doing, sweetheart,” cooed Cummings, according to his co worker, who was standing within earshot.”

“We know all about the phone calls, Misty calling him upset that she can’t control a five year old,” one of the lead Putnam County Haleigh task force investigators tells The Bald Truth in an exclusive interview. He asked that his name not be used. “It’s what you’d expect from a 16 or 17 year old babysitter.”

While police tell me they are double checking timelines and alibis of anyone who may have come in contact with Haleigh, they believe Haleigh’s kidnapper was no stranger to the family. “We’re not looking at a stranger abduction,” a lead task force member tells me. He said he’s been authorized to offer immunity from prosecution to any credible witness who can provide a sworn statement —and the crucial piece– that cracks the case.

“I don’t consider druggies credible,” he tells me, “and heaven knows we’ve got a lot of those down here. They’re like interviewing rocks, memory’s not very good.”

Still at the top of murky timelines: Misty Cummings, the babysitter Ronald Cummings married after she reported Haleigh missing. She went on a three day party binge the weekend before she reported Haleigh missing, hooking up with White Boy Greg Page– a revenge romance– according to Page and his chauffeur, Christina Prevatt, a Misty pal.

Investigators say Misty has told several conflicting stories, but maintains she was at the trailer sleeping when Haleigh vanished. If police do find anyone credible who, for example, can put Misty somewhere other than the trailer, or Ronald Cummings off PDM property where he said he worked until the end of his shift, “then you’ll see some fireworks,” the investigator told me.

So far, Cummings has a solid alibi. Not only do co-workers like Zastrow tell police they recall him on property, even taking his dinner break in the cafeteria, but The Bald Truth has learned exclusively that Cummings cell phone pings came from cell towers by the steel plant, and that on the way home, he stopped by a convenience store to buy a few things. That would certainly seem to debunk one theory that he went to the trailer to check on Misty, then returned to work that night.

In a telephone interview, Williams Staubs, the private investigator and bounty hunter nicknamed “Cobra,” tells me he’s still checking Cummings alibi, puzzling through Misty’s, and passing on what he hears to police, including the curious story of an ex wife of Crystal Sheffield’s fiancé, Chad Griffis.

Seems Chad won custody of two children from that marriage to Helen Edmison, and Marie Griffis, Crystal’s mother, tells me the ex wife, who lives in North Georgia, hates Crystal because she’s raising her two children–AND knows Ronald Cummings.

“We are trying to run that down,” says a lead Putnam County investigator, in a chat with The Bald Truth. “If we can find anyone who saw them together in Satsuma when Haleigh went missing, that’s of interest.”

Asked about an offer of immunity for a key witness, Johnny Greenwood, the Putnam County Sheriff’s spokesman, tells me, “I had not heard about that. Immunity can only come from the state attorney. We’re not authorized to offer immunity to anyone.”

With witnesses like Greg “White Boy Greg” Page stirring controversy and, more recently, threats, The Bald Truth has also learned Palatka police are boosting patrols in his downtown neighborhood after reports that relatives of Ronald Cummings “are trying to find him and harass him about the Haleigh Cummings disappearance,” according to an official police report made available to me.

In an exclusive interview with me over the weekend, assistant chief James Griffiths, second in command of Palataka’s finest, says the patrols began last week after Page’s mother, Lyn, heard about threats purportedly made against her son.

Then a white neighbor, a 43 year old divorced mother of two, reported a red pickup drove through the ‘hood, with two white men inside. In an exclusive phone interview with me, she said one rolled down the window and offered her $50 to tell them where they could find White Boy Greg and Cobra. Page’s mother, called 911, laid it out for two officers, and when she learned a police report had not been filed, marched down to the station to fill out her own report.

But Lyn apparenlty provided “no names of who might be doing this harassing,” said Griffiths, reading from the report, “just that a woman had seen two unknown white males driving in the neighborhood supposedly trying to locate Greg Page.”

But the mystery neighbor tells me the driver matched a mug shot of Cummings father, Lester. She made that ID from a mug shot I e- mailed her Sunday; and also says she found the same man on You Tube videos of Haleigh Cummings rallies. Cummings could not be reached for comment, but Cobra tells me a red Nissan Pathfinder the neighbor described to him is similar to one owned by Cummings grandmother, and sits in her driveway, outside the trailer, were Ronald and Misty are staying.

There really wasn't another place to put this article without starting another thread. I think it is a very interesting read. I know we have discussed it before, but it is a well written article on lock bumping which could have been used on either one of the mh doors for entry.

Criminals can get past 90 percent of all locks with a simple technique called lock bumping. It leaves absolutely no trace, so police and insurance companies will never know.

Lock bumping is done with bump keys that can be bought online. They will fit in nearly every lock made.

When you put in the bump key, it won't turn, but hold it a certain way, give it a few taps and it opens.

The criminals already know how easy this is, but many others don't.

No one knows how many break-ins are caused by lock bumping because it leaves no evidence, unlike kicking in a front door, which is still the most common type of burglary.

Just when we think the dysfunctional dynamics in Satsuma, Florida can’t get any stranger among rival clans of missing five year old Haleigh Cummings, Misty Cummings’ father, Hank Croslin, now accuses his new son in law, Ronald, of trying to poison him with painkillers he apparently thought would take away aches from a recent car accident, but made him violently ill instead.

“He believes Ronald Cummings was trying to kill him,” according to an official police “suspicious incident” report obtained exclusively by The Bald Truth that reveals a family that pops pills together, sticks together, unless, well, someone reports a bummer. Could this mean a Ronald-Misty rift might be looming?

According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department deputy, who answered the call the weekend before last, “Hank said that he regularly gets prescription pills from Ronald, including xanex and roxicet.”

Misty’s father related that he’d asked “Ronald if he had any xanex, and Ronald pulled several pills from out of his pocket, and gave Hank one,” the report goes on.

“ Hank said that Ronald never told him what the pill was, and that he did not know what the pill was. Hank described the pill as being small, round, and white. Ronald also gave Hank’s son one of the pills,” says the report.

“Hank would not identify his son, but he said that his son later told him that he identified the pill as a muscle relaxant,” the deputy wrote.

“Hank said that he voluntarily took the pill, and it made him very ill.

“Hank said that he was in a coma for four (4) days following the incident, and believes that Ronald provided the pill to him with the intent to harm him….He believes that Ronald Cummings was trying to kill him.”

But William Staubs, private investigator and bounty hunter, tells me he met with the Croslin’s Monday, and family members explained that the pill didn’t induce the coma– doctors did deliberately after Croslin aspirated on his own vomit and nearly died. Cobra said family tried to downplay the incident. He told them he was worried for Misty.

I asked the sheriff’s department why no one was arrested. “On the surface, it appears illegal, but didn’t rise to the level to make a case,” a major told me. “No money changed hands.”

In related ER matters, early Monday, Haleigh’s mother, Crystal Sheffield, while hanging at the Haleighbug command post on Highway 17 with her sister, Sarah, was rushed to the emergency room after blacking out from another apparent seizure, falling and hitting hear head, blood gushing everywhere.

Family members also tell me paramedics found her woozy and, Cobra, who raced to the scene with her attorney, Kim Picazio, says he found an ax on the floor, an apparent weapon Crystal had armed herself with to ward off a possible stalker her sister said they’d spotted “wearing all black,” and lurking outside.

No stalker was found, said Cobra.

After she was treated and released, her fiance, Chad Griffis, tells me she’s now home resting, and neurological tests are being scheduled.

Naples–This is a police report. Hank called the cops. A deputy shows up. He shares what he said happened. Deputy writes it down and writes it up. No further action taken. Unclear if Hank pressed it, and if not, why not…I tried to reach the Croslin’s for comment; one cell phone I have has been disconnected temporarily. Cobra happened to have gone to the house. He was received well by all, except Misty’s Mom, Lisa Croslin, who was irate he was there, he told me. Now that we’ve both been told there’s an offer of immunity for anyone who can crack the case and finger the snatcher, even if they might be involved…Cobra has his ear to the ground and making the rounds, referring all tips to the task force.

TA–The Misty interview you recall is the one she did with me weeks ago outside the Satsuma convenience store; Ronald was inside buying cigs; and she was hanging with Teresa Neves in Ron’s white pickup with Only God Can Judge Me on the window. JVM played a clip of it tonight at the end of our segment with artharris.com on it…I asked her about the movies and there did seem to be some discrepencies. A police source tells me that the VCR was too high for Haleigh to climb up and change herself, so question is how did that happen if it could have happened as I believe Misty mentioned was possible…
As far as the blue family van, i was there the day LE returned it, all dusted down with white fingerprint powder, dusty on the outside and a giant scratch on the side, where someone scraped something…a branch driving through the woods? A vandal with a key? LE isn’t talking about the forensics on the van, but if they’d found blood with luminol or something truly evidentiary, it’s been my experience, they would have kept it impounded on a police lot to protect the chain of evidence in custody.
Oh, that was the same van Misty drove to pick up Haleigh the last day from school when she got off the bus, parents at the bus stop tell me…No one ever saw Ronald or his mother, Teresa Neves, who both claimed they were the carpool drivers respectively. And Cobra says Ronald told him that he let Haleigh sit on his lap and hold the steering wheel, even put on the blinker when they turned down his driveway….Okay.

I’m told Teresa Neves called Crystal and wanted to take her to the same spot she took me and Cobra to check out, something about a yellow cloth or flag she’d found and wanted Crystal to see…That’s according to Cobra who was there when she called…and offered to go as well. I also hear she’s saying she’s leaving me messages and I’m not calling her back. I’d love to talk with her and keep up a dialogue, get her comments and thoughts…and have left messages that aren’t returned. So if that’s true, I’m here and all ears. I want ALL sides of the story. As experts said on JVM tonight, my story on co workers vouching Ron was at work and cops saying the cell towers and pings confirm he was there for his shift, and the call from Misty about a rebellious little girl who wouldn’t go to bed can also be interpreted, as i said on air, to be the reaction of a father called at work with a mini crisis at home, and a frustrated babysitter who can’t get the baby to go to sleep at her bedtime…What do you think?

Misty Cummings Wild Weekend Chauffeur, Christina Prevatt, Back in Jail

In an exclusive,wide-ranging interview, the lead investigator in the Haleigh Cummings case tells the The Bald Truth he’s holding out hope the missing five year old could be alive.

“I didn’t think so for a long time, based on statistics for these kinds of missing children cases,” Captain Dominic Piscatello, chief of major crimes for the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, told me Monday. “But now, based on what we’ve learned, I’m holding out hope. You remember (Elizabeth) Smart (the kidnapped Utah girl who turned up safe years later). Everyone had written her off as dead. We’re not ready to write off Haleigh.”

As supervisor of PCSD investigators spearheading the federal, state and local task force, Piscatello provided few details behind his change of heart, but did tell me earlier he’s confident the case is no stranger abduction, far more likely a child kidnapping by someone known or tied to a small circle of “players” who had contact with the five year old via family or friends.

His investigators have built timelines, which they continue to fill in for each of those so called “players,” including Misty Cummings, the 17 year old babysitter who reported the child missing Feb. 10, then married Haleigh’s father, Ronald, several weeks later. Both deny anything to do with the disappearance, and have made teary pleas for Haleigh’s safe return.

Piscatello told me he’d asked Cummings’ attorney to bring his client in to meet with investigators in an attempt to resolve unanswered questions about events surrounding Haleigh’s disappearance. He declined to reveal what the questions might be, and did not imply Ronald might be a suspect, just a grieving father who may hold clues that might lead them to a kidnapper, and hopefully, a little girl who’s still alive.

Cummings’ attorneys issued a press release Tuesday blasting our story reporting exclusively that police consider Ronald’s alibi solid–that co workers and cell phone towers show he was at work on the yard for PDM Bridge when Haleigh was purportedly snatched from the trailer where she was sleeping with her brother and babysitter Misty Croslin.

The attorneys said they found conflicts, gossip and hearsay in the story — that also quoted a co worker overhearing Ronald order Misty to “whip” Haleigh or put in a movie to keep her quiet–but declined to elaborate because of the upcoming meeting with the task force.

“This office had prepared a more lengthy and detailed response, but it has just been learned that a meeting has been scheduled for this office to meet with the law enforcement task force investigating Haleigh’s disappearance,” read the statement. “In the interest of not interfering with law enforcement’s investigation, this office will withhold further comment until deemed appropriate.

We left messages with Ronald’s mother, and his grandmother, where he’s been living with Misty, asking for comment, but received no call backs by press time, or after. His lawyers have refused all phone interviews, apparently preferring to communicate via press releases.

It was unclear whether his wife, Misty, had also been invited to speak with investigators who have interviewed her numerous times. According to her family, Misty recently retained her own attorney, like her husband. In an exclusive interview with me several weeks ago, she told The Bald Truth she didn’t need one “because only guilty people need a lawyer.”

According to Piscatello, who cites “conflicts” in her account of the night Haleigh disappeared, the only thing she’s ever confessed to is partying the weekend before Haleigh vanished. Fresh from a domestic spat with Ronald, according to friends, she sought a quickie revenge romance , going on what several friends who were with her tell me was a wild three day weekend of sex, drugs and rock and roll–chauffeured by pal Christina Prevatt, 19, aka, Nay Nay. It was Nay Nay who helped Misty make her love connection with “White Boy Greg” Page, 28, a light skinned African American who has been laying low following purported threats from Cummings family.

But Prevatt was back in the Putnam County Jail Tuesday, on suicide watch with a mandatory 72 hour hold for her own safety, the captain told me. She was rebooked after William Staubs, aka “Cobra,” pro bono private eye and bounty hunter, tracked her to a “filthy” Palatka crash pad, and announced he was revoking her $2,400 bond on drug charges. He’d bailed her out last week with Amber Brooks, a former Ronald Cummings ex, who remains free on bond, then learned she’d tried to allegedly snatch her own child, a nine month old girl named Destiny, from the father, Donovan Spells, 47.

According to Kim Picazio, the Miami lawyer representing Crystal Sheffield who has also been mediating domestic turmoil between Prevatt and her man, Nay Nay “needs to get into rehab for her drug addiction, and we’ve been pleading with her to get help.”

Picazio tells me Prevatt apparently snapped Monday when she saw another woman holding Destiny outside the father’s house and tried to wrestle the baby from her and the father. She was in the car with her mother.

“Drive, hurry up and drive!” she was yelling at her mother as she engaged in a dangerous tug of war for the baby, according to Picazio.

Cobra says that incident, an alleged child kidnapping, made her risky business for the bonding company and required him to hunt her down. He said he found her asleep on a dirty mattress today at 1 p.m and announced she was going back to jail.

“She cried and screamed that she’d die in jail,” Cobra told me, “but jail might be the safest place for her right now.”

Indeed, the troubled young woman sent a test message to her ex boyfriend, who forwarded it to Picazio and Cobra, that she aimed to kill herself after spotting her baby in the arms of another woman.

Captain Piscatello hopes to harvest clues from all the emotional chaos, and within minutes of her booking, had investigators grilling her again about what she knew about Haleigh’s disappearance or anyone who might know. “I don’t think she’s involved directly at all,” Piscatello told me, “but this gives us a chance to see if she will give us something she hasn’t before.

“We’ll make sure she gets checked by a doctor, and maybe when she gets the drugs out of her system, and gets off suicide watch, she’ll be able to remember something about someone we might be able to use…all we need is a break.”

Bond was revoked Tuesday, April 28, 2009 for Kristina Rene “Nay Nay” Prevatt in Palatka, Florida today.

Escorting Ms. Prevatt to the Putnam County Jail is bondsman/surety agent William “Cobra” Staubs — the same man who posted her bond Monday, April 20, 2009 when she was arrested along with Amber Brooks in Putnam County on drug charges.

WSKY had cameras rolling at the home where she was staying and at the jail where she is at last word on suicide watch.

Prevatt’s bond was revoke because she is beleived to be flight risk and a possible danger to herself.

Reports indicate Prevatt recenty tried to take her child from its guardian and later talked and/or texted conversations indicating possible suicide.

Prevatt is an associate of missing 5-year-old girl Haleigh Cumming’s Stepmother Misty Cummings. Prevatt reportedly introduced Misty to a man neamed Greg Page. The two shared a days long encouter involving sex and drugs just days before Haleigh vanished from her Satsuma home February 10, 2009 in the middle of the night.

Prevatt is also an associate of Amber Brooks. Both were arrested April 20, 2009 on drug charges in Putnam County.

Brooks is the mother of a 20-month old disabled child fathered by Haleigh Cummings father, Ronald Cummings Sr.

The relationship between Misty Cummings and Amber Brooks is not a good one. Court records indicate Amber Brooks’ mother, Lisa Brooks allegedly battered Misty in the fall of 2008 over some alleged hostile comments Misty made at Amber’s expense

REPORTER’S NOTES 4/27/2009

A bloody mess was reported early Monday at Haleigh Bug Headquarters by witnesses at the scene.

A Putnam County Fire Rescue ambulance picked up an unknown subject who had been bleeding from the face at about 1a.m. Monday, April 27, 2009 at the Haleigh Bug Headquarters on South US 17 in Satsuma, FL, the agency confirmed this morning.
Due to HIPPA laws, the identity of the subject was not immediately released.

I spoke with attorney Kim Picazzio late Monday. She confirmed at that time the identity of the female subject who was hospitalized at Putnam County Medical Center was her client and Haleigh’s mom, Crystal Sheffield.

Ms. Picazzio said Crystal Sheffield suffered a seizure at the center, fell and hit her nose and part of one eye on a hard surface. The injuries caused a great deal of bleeding and bruising, according to Picazzio.

Picazzio stated to WSKY that doctors later said the seizure was apparently caused by stress.

Sheffield is recovering in good condition.

One witness stated there was a hatchet seen inside the Haleigh Bug Headquarters, but it apparently had no bearing whatsoever on events leading to Crystal Sheffield’s seizure.

Ms. Sheffield has suffered at two seizures in the past several weeks prior to this incident.

REPORTER’S NOTES 4/26/2009

Information has been forwarded to WSKY regarding alleging more bad blood between Haleigh Cummings’ stepmother, 17-year-old Misty Cummings, and Amber Brooks, the woman who bore a son to Haleigh’s Father, Ronald Cummings over 20 months ago.
This information also supports a theory private investigators and others are researching involving the associations between Misty Cummings and two women who were recently jailed on cocaine charges in Putnam County.

The women who were jailed on Monday, April 20, 2009 are Kristina Rene “Nay-Nay” Prevatt and Amber Brooks.

In the days prior to the disappearance of 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings from her Satsuma, FL home where Misty Cummings was the last person to see her, Ms. Cummings was in the company of Kristina Rene “Nay-Nay” Prevatt.

Prevatt claims she arranged a meeting between Misty and a local man named Greg Page. That meeting reportedly resulted in a couple of days of sex and drug use for Misty and Greg the weekend before Haleigh vanished on February 10, 2009.

Prevatt is also an associate of Amber Brooks, the other woman who was jailed with her on cocaine charges April 20, 2009 in Putnam County.

WSKY has since discovered more facts about the difficult relationship between Misty Croslin-Cummings, Amber Brooks and Ambers’ mother Lisa Ann Brooks:

September 25, 2008, Misty Croslin (now Cummings), 16 years old at that time, filed a police report claiming Amber Brooks’ mother, 37-year-old Lisa Ann Brooks, committed battery on Misty.

October 6, 2008: Amber’s mother, Lisa Ann Brooks, is charged by State’s Attorney for battery on Misty Croslin.

November 14, 2008: 4:52 PM Misty Croslin allegedly posts nasty comments on Amber Brooks myspace page under a photo of Amber Brook and the baby son she had by Ronald Cummings: ” **** i got ur man and i will have ur baby to”

This new information lends support the claim made last week by private investigator William “Cobra” Staubs on WSKY and TheSky973.Com that Kristina Rene “Nay Nay” Prevatt and Amber Brooks are key to this case.

William “Cobra” Staubs has been working on this particular lead since the middle of last week.

WSKY continues for follow this lead and several others in the search for Haleigh Cummings.

The Bald Truth has learned just before 9 p.m. Wednesday, Christina Prevatt, aka Nay Nay, 18, ex- party girl chauffeur for Haleigh Cummings’ stepmother, Misty, was bonded out of the Putnam County Jail, again, on her original cocaine possession charges.

Only this time, it wasn’t bounty hunter Williams Staubs, aka Cobra, but Chuck’s Bail Bonds, according to attorney Kim Picazio, who has been trying to help the suicidal teenager struggling with drug addiction enroll in a rehab program.

She told The Bald Truth that she spoke to the Palatka, Florida outfit that took the gamble on Nay Nay, fresh off suicide watch, and says they declined to tell her who had put up the money for the bit player in the Haleigh Cummings mystery to go free, and likely go wild.

Her last get out of jail free card came from Staubs. Just before Cobra bonded her out Monday morning, task force detectives with the Putnam County Sheriff’s task force on the missing five year old, tell me they were interviewing Prevatt in jail, but learned nothing new.

Detectives hit her up again for information after Cobra put her back behind bars Tuesday for violating terms of her bond, but police sources say nothing new came up.

It was Prevatt who drove Misty on her weekend break with White Boy Greg Page, returning the day before Misty would report Haleigh missing.

“She’s been very cooperative with us,” Lt. Johnny Greenwood, the sheriff’s spokesman told me today. “She’s not a suspect or a person of interest, as some have wrongly reported, just someone who might know someone who knows something.”

Cobra tells me he’d bonded out Prevatt to cruise the Satsuma underbelly, along with Brooks, poking their heads into crack houses to see if they recognized anyone who might jog their memories and shake loose any information. Then he learned she’d tried to snatch her own child from temporary custody of her ex, and was threatening to kill herself, and put her back behind bars, this time on suicide watch.

Sources tell me a doctor ruled she was no longer a danger to herself, so could not be held under the mandatory 72 hour lockdown regulations.

Then Cobra got word Wednesday night, she was back on the street, and headed for the parking lot behind the Palatka Huddle House, where he says he found Prevatt standing by her new main man, a local ex-con named Jerome, out on his own $31,000 bond, records show, courtesy of, you guessed it, Chuck’s Bail Bonds.

“She didn’t look so good,” Cobra told me, who had lead the girl back to jail in tears and handcuffs a day earlier. “In fact, she looked so bad, she looked homesick for jail.”

With tensions mounting as he confronted Jerome, Cobra said he was glad he’d ordered his passengers to wear bullet proof vests; he shoved two pistols in his belt, ready for anything.

Later, I called Jerome. He picked up his cell phone. I asked to speak with Nay Nay.
“You the man who owes her money?” he asked.

“I don’t think so. Why, you think I owe her?”

“I think you owe me money,” he laughed. “Like five million dollars.”

I decided to ask how much he charged for the ladies. Cobra said he was bragging about having Nay Nay and Amber back under his roof.

“Who told you I do that?” he asked.

“That’s the word, Jerome,” I said.

The ones that are actually doing the work on this case are getting nothing, spending their own time and money to look for a child they have never met. That is more than I can say for some. Everyday, they are out there tracking down leads, getting threatened, or hitting a brick wall because ppl don’t want to cooperate or it might infringe upon their operations, etc. This includes Art, Cobra, and KP. Whether you like them or not, they are helping and investigating and bring the story to us.

We are talking about the life of a child. This should come first and foremost.

Everyone else has their hand out. The money supposedly is for the search for Haleigh and towards the reward. All I have heard is spending, spending, spending. Not on searching but vehicles, eating out, going to the fair, buying beer, going gambling.

I am a mad citizen of Florida! I, as a taxpayer, am paying for law enforcement to find Haleigh. I don’t have a problem with that part…I have a problem with the drugs and people not telling the truth. People sending LE on false runs and giving false information. When the person(s) are charged with a crime, who do you think is going to pay for the legal fees?

It’s quite a lengthy dowload and Haleigh is the last topic covered. Cobra’s main points were:

- Cobra is distressed that he is personally spending more time and expense looking for Haleigh than her own father, Ronald Cummings, is.

- Cobra reports that Ron has spent his donation money he has received on two elaborate tatoos costing $400, a new car, an engagement ring for Misty, and ‘buying dope’. Ron has not used a penny of his donation fund for Haleigh to hire a private investigator. Ron has not personally been searching for his daughter while Cobra has been looking and questioning people every day.

- Ron is aware that Cobra is working pro bono, but has not even offered to fill Cobra’s gas tank or buy him lunch.

- Ron did call Cobra recently in the middle of the night to ask Cobra if Cobra planned to call him the minute he found Haleigh.

- Cobra feels Haleigh is alive and that the key to finding Haleigh is Misty telling the truth. (interesting that Cobra did not bring up the need for Ron and Teresa telling the truth even though they have both been caught lying.)

- When Cobra is asked why he feels Haleigh is alive and being held hostage, he says he has to believe it in order to keep going every day.

- Cobra’s personal impression of Crystal is that she is extremely worried about Haleigh’s fate and worry is taking an immense toll on her physically.

Listening to Cobra, I got the sense that he thinks Misty and Ron together - or - Misty alone sold off Haleigh for drugs.

Sure Haleigh could be in the hands of some drug dealer, if rumors of getting even prove true. LE feels certain she’s not in the area, especially with the Mexican drug folks in Crescent City; not an easy crowd to infiltrate but sources tell me they have informants there. This is a small community and at any time, the PCSD can round up the usual suspects and put heat as needed, the kind of heat Nay Nay and Amber’s benefactor tells me he’s feeling pretty heavy right about now. Just got off the phone with Jerome. But LE is also exploring family ties, Hatfield-McCoy hatreds and other angles about anyone close to the family. But Misty remains the key.

As for the dumpster, I got a chance to speak with the lead investigator and he said they searched not only the dumpster behind the trailer, but EVERY dumpster in the county within the first few hours of their alert Haleigh was missing.

The dogs were not PHDs in sniffing, I’m told, and hit on a sanitary napkin in the dumpster…LE searched it thoroughly, Capt. Dominic Piscitello told me the other day, trying to clear up rumors the LE dumpster diving didn’t go deep enough. It was very thorough, he says, with his team searching some of the dumpsters again. My question is what kind of dumb killer would dump a body there when there are so many lakes and rivers teeming with alligators?

On a day Ronald took Cobra to a lake near his house, I got to tag along, and heard Ronald talk about going fishing with cousin Joe and how Joe loved to watch alligators tear apart small animals for supper…

People were getting upset cause they couldn't go off topic in the other thread that was out in the open and asked that one be made in the Pizza Party. I can’t believe Cobra would say Nay Nay and Amber were never part of the Haleigh investigation. Makes me wonder if the blogger misunderstood, unless it was taped. Was it? If so, put it up, let’s hear it…And if that’s wrong, raises questions about the rest of it…

I don’t know what police were telling him, but my police sources always wanted to grill Nay Nay –and did before Cobra bonded her out and immediately after she was brought back. All know she drove Misty on her last party weekend and partied in the same circles, so she may have heard her say something. She’s never been a suspect or person of interest, as some have misreported, but a possible source of information that could shed light on Misty and Ron’s state of mind, and other details that might provide a clue to where Haleigh is or what happened to her…Detectives just wanted her drug free and with a clear mind…that’s why they wanted her to chill in jail. What if she knows who Misty’s suppliers are? Her party MO? Or heard Misty say something about Ronald or friends that might lead to a Haleigh clue. I’d say she’s part of the investigation, wouldn’t you?

Rememer, Cobra bailed her out, and drove her and Amber around town looking for hangouts and characters who might know Misty and Ronald…He sure was using them to shake things up and information loose…

As for Amber, ex-girlfriend, mother of Jordan…she raised Haleigh for three out of the five years she lived with Ron, and Junior…she has valuable insight into the household, and told me about his allegedly abusive behaviour and gun play (”He’s crazy,” Amber told me when we first spoke). Her experience with his behaviour could also be a source of insight and clue, including people she hangs with…Anyone who travels in the same circles is valuable for investigators as they keep trying to rule people in or close to Haleigh’s family in or out…

Well, I just listened to the Simon Barett show with Cobra and Art Harris. VERY interesting! They archive their shows so you can go listen to it at some point, don't know how fast they put them up. Anyway, Art was asked about the family involvement and he said that LE has never done a formal investigation of Crystal or even Chad. He also said that it is a fact that CS was a partier at one time but he can find no evidence that it has continued.

Cobra made an interesting comment when they were discussing the bricked door on the Simon Barett show today. He said that he feels that was a common practice because one day little JR went and got two stones to hold open Cobra's motel room door. Seems he must have seen that done somewhere else perhaps.

The Bald Truth has learned that a convicted Palatka, Florida drug dealer who was arrested again Tuesday night on drug trafficking charges claimed to be using his street sources to help find clues into what happened to missing five year old Haleigh Cummings.

That’s what thirty seven year old Jerome Raymond Williams told me last week in an exclusive interview after discovering two women he’d recently helped bail out of jail had ties to Haleigh Cummings’ family he figured he might be able to exploit in an attempt to cut himself a better deal with upcoming drug charges.

Indeed, Williams told The Bald Truth before his latest arrest he was exploring options with the hard-working missing child task force that hoped the career criminal might be the break they’d been waiting for.

“We thought we had something special with Williams,” confided one law enforcement source who spoke on condition of anonymity, explaining how investigators often have to tap dance with the devil to solve unsolved mysteries like Haleigh Cummings.

Unfortunately, said the source, the drug dealer turned out to be a bust–a ‘VERY dead link to the case.” Out of some 4,000 leads police have chased, so many seemed promising, only to lead to another dead end.

There was cousin Joe in Tennessee who Misty Croslin’s family fingered as their favorite suspect – only police couldn’t tie him to the crime….A so called Haleigh siting by a government scientist at a beauty parlor outside Nashville: a woman with a tan wearing flip flops and blue jean cutoffs in winter and a little girl the witness swore to be the missing five year old, another bust…a Chad Griffis ’”ex” whose family believed might have had it in for Crystal Sheffield for stealing her man and raising her kids…”We thought that was hot, too,” an investigator told me, “but it’s not on the radar anymore.”

It keeps coming back to the missing hours Misty Cummings can’t account for on the night Haleigh vanished, and a timeline investigators tell me they are still trying to corraborate. Then along came Williams.

Williams and 30 year old Courtney Renee Leonard were taken into custody Tuesday night after undercover drug officers suckered the ex-con into trading prescription painkillers for what they dangled as stolen TVs, radios and a radar detector, according to the Putnam County Sheriff. .

According to a roommate who shared a triplex with Williams behind the Huddle House in Palatka, he offered a stranger four Loritabs for electronics gear. Drug officers from Putnam and St. John’s Counties, and the Palatka, PD, had been watching Williams, who arranged to meet the undercover officer in a parking lot.

According to police, both Williams and Leonard drove up, and after a little horse-trading, she offered to buy one TV for cash; while Jerome clinched a deal to trade Loritabs for electronics. Afterwards, police found illegal and prescription drugs in Williams’ car, including crack and powder cocaine, and an assortment of pills—Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, Diazepam, Cyclobenzapine and Clonazepam.

Williams was charged with two counts of drug trafficking and cocaine possession with intent to sell, possession of a schedule II controlled substance with the intent to sell, possession of a schedule IV substance with the intent to sell, possession of a legend drug without a prescription, possession of a legend drug with the intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a drug conveyance and dealing in stolen property, according to the sheriff..

Officers also served two outstanding warrants for trafficking in Hydrocodone and two counts for selling cocaine. Williams was booked into the Putnam County jail, where Chuck’s Bail Bonds sprung him earlier this month, and had helped arrange bond for Christina Prevatt, aka Nay Nay, and Amber Brooks, Ronald Cummings ex girlfriend and mother of his son, Jordan, after Cobra first rounded them up and bailed them out. Cobra, the nickname adopted by private eye and surety agent William Staubs, had this idea he’d use the girls to cruise the crack dens and try to shake up and shake loose tips from the same crowd they’d partied with the last weekend before Haleigh went missing—when Nay Nay was driving Misty Cummings on her revenge romance in the arms of “White Boy” Greg Page after a dust up with Ronald.

At one party, Nay Nay says Misty nearly came to blows with Amber Brooks, after needling her on My Space about stealing her man, and how she aimed to get her baby, too, a disabled boy named Jordan whose paternity she confirmed when Jerome handed her the phone.

“Yep, Ronald’s name is on the birth certificate,” she told me last week after bonding out courtesy of Chuck’s Bail Bonds.

Charles Durwood Ingram, 49, a former Palatka police officer… is the Chuck behind Chuck’s Bail Bonds, a registered sex offender who plead guilty to lewd and lascivious assault on a child in 2002. After he was sentenced to four years in prison and 11 years probation, he served two years, and began registering as a sex offender, which by statute, barred from the bail bond business. Records show he transferred title to his wife, but when I dropped by the office in a strip mall the other day, there he was, gaunt and goateed, sitting behind a desk; locals say he can be seen riding around town with his wife when she drops off bonds at the jail to spring steady clients like Jerome Williams.

“Chuck takes care of me,” says Jerome of the former bondsman who declined comment. Asked about his status as a convicted sexual predator, Jerome told me that “Chuck says he was set up and framed.”

“If you were set up, why would you plead guilty to go to prison and go on the books as a sexual predator?” asks Putnam County Sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Johnny Greenwood, who investigated the case and interviewed the victim. “I just presented my facts and statements. He took the deal. If it was me and I didn’t do something, I’m gonna fight it for sure.”

But with no bond imposed for his new trafficking charges, Chuck’s long-time client was out of luck this time, and The Bald Truth has learned Jerome was transferred Wednesday to a secure facility in St. John’s County.

“He asked to be moved,” says Lt. Greenwood. “There were a lot of guys in jail in Putnam County he’d had dealings with in the past he might be facing as a co defendants in the future. He expressed his concerns (to the jail) that, ‘Hey, these guys know me.” So he was moved for security reasons.”

His co-defendant, Courtney Leonard, remained in Putnam jail, charged with dealing in stolen property; her bond has been set at $2,504.00

Jerome’s phone went to voice mail when I tried him today. Last week, he sure was sounding upbeat. He’d buried the hatchet with Cobra, after the self-proclaimed “hillbilly” went toe to toe with the drug dealer and alleged pimp for taking Amber and Nay Nay under wing after they were bailed out.

At first baffled over how he was suddenly in everybody’s crosshairs, on the one hand he told me he was worried locals would think him a snitch, yet he was boasting to another Palatka bail bondsman that he was a bankrobber who took “federal money,” and a “drug dealer like my Daddy.”

‘That’s what he said in our office when they were trying to get one of the girls’ bonds transferred from Cobra to him, “ recalls A-1 Bail Bonds owner Donna Jaquith. “He was yelling and screaming and acting like an asshole.”

Last month, Amber was booked into the county slammer on a Friday night, on the same cocaine and failure to appear charges that landed her there originally.

Only that time, it wasn’t “Cobra” Staubs who bailed her out (within the hour), but Chuck’s Bail Bonds, the same local outfit that put Misty party pal Prevatt, 18, aka, Nay Nay, back on the streets after jail docs took her of suicide watch.

That release, while legally kosher, irked investigators with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department who tell me they’d hoped she’d detox for a few days in jail and clear her head enough to remember something useful to their investigation into the missing five year old.

It was Prevatt who told The Bald Truth she drove Misty (then Croslin) on a three day binge of parties, drugs, and sex, the weekend before Haleigh turned up missing. After they were arrested together earlier this month, it was Cobra who bonded them out for Donna Jaquith’s A-1 Bail Bonds, a Chuck rival, to cruise the drug netherworld of Putnam County in search of tipsters who might know something, anything.

Then Nay Nay tried to snatch her 9 month old from the child’s father and sent a suicide threat text message to Kim Picazio, the family law attorney for Crystal Sheffield who has been trying to encourage Prevatt to go into rehab. “She actually called to ask if we could pick her up from a drug house the other night, that she didn’t want to be around it, or do it,” Picazio tells me.

Then she was back with Williams, who, according to Picazio, took the girls clothes when they were staying with him so they couldn’t run away. When I got Jerome on his cell phone two weeks ago, he confirmed Amber Brooks had been was staying with him, too.

According to Picazio, he’s been furious at Cobra for cruising through the ‘hood and driving customers away, and Staubs tells me that before their detete, he was interrogating a witness in a cheap motel when Jerome pounded on the door and demanded Cobra stay away, or else, then began threatening his witness.

Moments later, Staubs was detailing that encounter for detectives, when 911 calls came from the motel.

Then, Amber Brooks turned herself into the Jail; Chuck’s bailed her out; she moved into Jerome’s studio with Christina Prevatt, aka Nay Nay, and the convicted felon realized he might have two golden girls who could come in handy as part of a radical makeover he was considering after warming to attorney Kim Picazio who describes feeling out of place as she hopped out of her green Hummer in an Eli Tahari suit and high heels and sat in the tiny apartment with Williams, the girls and three beds. “I was polite and just treated him like a human being, and he was all ears,” she tells me. In fact, he actually considered allowing Nay Nay to go into rehab, says Picazio, and seemed hopeful about a fresh start.

“I’m gonna do what I can to find that missing little girl,” Williams told me in a late night call last week after starting to understand how might benefit from ties to Misty Cummings galpal “Nay Nay” and Amber Brooks.

Sources tell me Williams recently met with Putnam County sheriff’s investigators, who, after three months of dead ends, were ready to entertain how the drug dealer might help them. After all, there was an immunity offer on the table for anyone, even a dealer with a past, if he could help bring Haleigh home.

No specifics were ever discussed, sources tell me, but Williams implied he might know drug dealers who knew Misty. Only his wheeling and alleged dealing apparently rocked on, and the triplex where he was staying behind the Huddle House in Palatka hit vice cops radar.

On one visit, Picazio tells me she met a Williams friend named Daniel Bass, 47, a registered sex offender who called himself the landlord. Picazio says she warned him he might need to evict a needy family with young children in the complex, if children of a certain age nearby violated terms of his sex offender status.

Then came Tuesday night’s bust. “Nay Nay” was not arrested. Picazio who has been checking up on her between representing Crystal Sheffield in her bitter custody dispute with Ronald Cummings, and pressing her case with Florida’s Department of Family and Children, got her on the phone.

“She told me, ‘Kim, I didn’t have anything on me,’” says Picazio, who has been urging Prevatt to seek drug rehab and lobbying Jerome to let her go if she wants help. Police tell me they’d wanted Nay Nay in jail to “dry out” and get her head clear enough to remember anything she might have forgotten in previous interviews about Misty Cummings.

Investigators have interviewed Misty at least 10 times—and tell me they are still trying to reconcile “inconsistencies” in her stories, and plug timelines in others.

Meanwhile, her husband, Ronald, has been asked to return for another police interview with his attorney, Greg Kimball, “to clear up a few things, minor stuff,” a task force member tells me. But that pow-wow has yet to occur.

My sources also maintain police still do not believe it’s a stranger abduction, more likely someone “in the loop” of Haleigh’s family and friends whose name may have not yet surfaced. “We’ve got to keep an open door and an open mind,” says a source close to the case.

CNN host Jane Velez-Mitchell will revisit the tragic and baffling disappearance of Satsuma, Florida five year old Haleigh Cummings on her show, ISSUES, Thursday Night, May 14, on Headline News.

It’s been over three months since Haleigh vanished Feb. 10, reported missing at 3:30 a.m. from the trailer of father Ronald Cummings by a 17 year old live-in babysitter named Misty (then) Croslin. Within a month, Cummings married Misty, whose timeline has been a major focus of federal, state and local police; seven members of the Putnam County Sheriff’s major crime unit are now the investigators on the front lines of this shadow war, along with a Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigator.

Overshadowing the hunt for clues are the embattled parents– father Ronald, and mother Crystal Sheffield –locked in a bitter child custody, he-said, she-said, battle royal over Haleigh’s four year old brother, Ronald, Jr.; abuse allegations against his father remain under investigation by child welfare workers with Florida’s Department of Children and Families, but staffers are considering Crystal’s fitness as well. In court in 2005, she lost custody to Cummings when they split.

Sources familiar with the case, including witnesses who tell me they’ve been interviewed, also tell me investigators have quizzed family members on both sides, along with Ronald Cummings’ exes like Amber Brooks, Ronald co-workers at PDM Bridge, where he worked as a crane operator before he was fired last month, neighbors who saw Haleigh get off the bus on her last day home from school, and others.

While there’s a normal 60 day deadline to finish child abuse probes by DFS, which ended last Tuesday, The Bald Truth has confirmed a news account reporting the deadline has been extended so investigators can keep digging into the fitness of the parents and determine whether Ronald Junior is safe living with his father and stepmother at the trailer home of Cummings grandmother in Welaka, or needs to be removed. “We typically try to wrap up cases in 60 days,” says John Harrell, Putnam County’s DFS spokesman. “Occasionally we go longer, but we try not to go too far beyond that.”

In the Haleigh case, a criminal probe into the missing child that includes multilple interviews with some family members was reason enough to buy child welfare workers more time to investigate, sources close to the case tell The Bald Truth. Law enforcement has been sharing some information from the case with DFS, sources tell me.

“It’s hard to go into details because of confidentiality,” John Harrell tells The Bald Truth. “What I can say here is that we’re continuing to look into things; and that child safety is a top priority.”

Options include removing the child immediately if the evidence shows he’s in immediate danger, a hearing to determine where the child should go if he’s at risk but not in immediate danger or dropping the investigation.

In the Cummings case, some witnesses have spoken to both DFS and police in joint meetings. Jerry Santos, a father of three and Ronald Cummings’ neighbor, tells me he described how Ronald was driving his purple Altima like a bat out of hell on the Monday morning that was Haleigh’s last day at school.

In fact, Santos believes he saw her through Ronald’s tinted windows as the father sped around the corner, whipping within inches of a pickup truck and nearly hitting him and others. He told investigators his daughter, a third grader who had taken Haleigh under wing when they road the bus together, was frightened for days afterwards. He recalls at least one detective giving him a thumbs up, “like now they knew why Ronald was in such a hurry that day. They didn’t tell me anything, just, ‘Now it’s starting to make sense.”

Santos tells me he also told investigators about a bizarre meeting with Cummings immediately after Geraldo Rivera, the FOX news host, confronted Ronald on camera, hitting him hard about allegedly abusing his ex, Crystal. Afterwards, he says Cummings made a beeline for his house to press Santos’ father to counter Geraldo’s charges by contacting FOX to declare him a fit parent. Cummings figured he’d do it because Jerry’s father is the DFS investigator who dug into complaints against Cummings in the past, including one that charged he had abused Junior by beating him with a stick.

That investigation reportedly determined that while Cummings used corporal punishment, it did not meet the threshhold of physical abuse.

Still, the DFS investigator was shocked Cummings would come to his son’s house to make that personal appeal that appeared to be a demand. “My Dad told him, ‘You shouldn’t even be here, the proper place to make that request is at the DFS office.’ He said there was no way he could take up for him with Geraldo.”

Santos says that Cummings was stunned, and on his way out, got hit again between the eyes with an impromptu question from his outspoken mother. “So what did Misty do with your child?” He didn’t respond, but Santos did take a moment to ask Cummings why he was driving so fast the day at the bus stop, when he almost hit his daughter.

“Haleigh was missing,” he says Ronald responded, implying he was distraught.

“No, Ronald, that was Haleigh’s last day at school. She didn’t go missing until the next day,” said Santos. Then he said it must have been because Haleigh had spilled something on her shirt and he was running late for school (even though the bus had yet to leave from the corner where Haleigh often caught it).

A call to Ronald Cummings lawyer, Greg Kimball, for comment was not returned by deadline, though Cummings did speak out in a video on the lawyer’s website findhaleigh.com, thanking volunteers and asking people to keep looking for his daughter.

SATSUMA, FL -- The father of Haleigh Cummings, the little girl missing since February, is speaking publicly in cyberspace. His attorney, T. Jerry Snider, is also talking on camera for the first time.

In a short video clip on his attorney's web site, Ronald Cummings thanked all the volunteers who had spent long hours searching for his daughter when she disappeared.

Cummings also asked people not to give up in the search. Haleigh's father made a long pause before making a plea for someone to call in that critical tip to bring Haleigh home.

"Please, please keep looking, keep calling in the tips," said Cummings.

"And Haleigh, if you're watching, baby I love you, we're still looking for you."

Haleigh Cummings hasn't been seen since she went to bed on the night of February 9 at her home in Satsuma. Misty Croslin, Ronald's girlfriend at the time, put her to bed and then called 911.

Croslin and Cummings have since married.

(CNN) -- More than three months after 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings disappeared from her home in Satsuma, Florida, her father took to the Web to beg anyone with information about his daughter's whereabouts to call police.

DCF INVESTIGATION CONTINUES IN THE CUMMINGS CASE

The Florida Department of Children and Families continues to investigate abuse allegations made by Crystal Sheffield, the mother of Haleigh Cummings regarding the status of Haleigh’s younger brother, Ronald Cummings Jr., who presently lives with his father.

DCF spokesman John Harrell says the agency has been given information and they are continuing to investigate.

Ronald Junior lives at his great-grandmother’s house in Welaka with his father, Ronald Cummings, and stepmother, Misty Croslin, after his 5-year-old sister vanished from their South Putnam home in February.

Crystal Sheffield retained South Floirda attorney Kim Picazio to help with the news media shortly after her daughter’s disappearance, and Picazio has continued to represent her in the DCF investigation.

Harrell said that even though the investigation is ongoing, DCF would not remove any child from a home unless they were in danger.

The tone at the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office today appears to be upbeat and as determined to find 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings today as it was February 10, 2009 when she was abducted from her Satsuma, FL home in the middle of the night.

I spoke with Lt. Johnny Greenwood at length this morning to see where the investigation is at this point. The quick answer is that they have received over 4,000 leads and have interviewed over 300 people so far.

One thing I discovered today is that most of the men and women investigating the disappearance of Haleigh Cummings are parents, too. One could easily believe that beyond their jobs, they might also be invested in this case on somewhat of a personal level.

Lt. Johnny Greewood tells me the happiest day will come when he can call a press conference and announce that Haleigh has been returned safe and sound. But until then, Greenwood says the investigators on the case remain working at the same level of intensity as the day the little girl was reported missing.

Greenwood contends that until proven otherwise, it is the department’s belief that Haleigh is still alive.

I asked Greenwood if the case was taking its toll on the investigators. He simply resonded, “No one is complaining.”

Lt. Greenwood and I talked about some of the tips that have been received.

I told him of one account passed along to me that involved a couple from Europe who came into the area to pickup their grandchild shortly after Haleigh vanished. The tipster thought they may have been in town to “buy” Haleigh. I was told the couple would be easy to find since one of them was reportedly bitten by a monkey while in Putnam County.

Greenwood did say that a person in the area was indeed bitten by a monkey, but didn’t say much about that story beyond that. And honestly, I understand why he didn’t.

I asked Lt. Greenwood more about the night Haleigh vanished when she was reportedly being watched by her now-stepmother, Misty Cummings. Greenwood didn’t have much to add other than the fact that Misty has now been questioned at least ten times by investogators and her timeline still remains inconsistent.

What exactly is the reason for the upbeat tone at the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office today is anybody’s guess. Hopefuly they are closing in Haleigh’s whereabouts and narrowing down the suspects in the case.

Interview with Cobra

Broward County, Florida- I had the pleasure of getting to spend some time today with Cobra Staubs the private investigator who is searching for Haleigh. It was an honor and a joy to have him take time from his busy schedule to answer my silly little questions. I didn’t ask to interview him because I have stars in my eyes, let me clear that up now. Cobra and TJ Hart are where the news is regarding Haleigh. Go ahead call law enforcement detectives down there covering her disappearance ask questions all you’ll get is shutting doors. Like a friend said its easy to sit back and complain from the side lines. Stand up and take action instead of just running your mouth. See then how you feel.

There is lots of speculation as to Cobra’s credentials and qualifications to be investigating Haleigh’s disappearance. People are upset with him and his involvement in this disappearance. Cobra is a private investigator licensed by the state of Florida, I would rather have him searching for my missing child than some know nothing arm chair detective who cant put the clicker down long enough to scratch there bottoms for a clue.

Stars in my eyes makes me laugh I must say. I don’t know how supporting someone out searching for Haleigh is stars in my eyes. Cobra is doing this for the love of a child not for publicity or name sake. No one seems to understand that he is out breaking his back and his life to find Haleigh. He is not going to give in or up for anyone or lack of anything. People need to back off and give him a break. But thats just my opinion.

Now that I have gotten through the pleasantries lets get dirty. I asked Cobra questions that I needed answers to. This case is full of drama but there are few hard facts. Cobra is the man on the ground and he appears to be the only source of information. Let me tell you right now there is not much information coming from law enforcement, but people like Cobra and TJ Hart of Sky 97.3 are doing the very best they can to unveil the truth.

Cobra was kind enough to grant an interview:

S: Are you from Florida?

C: Originally I’m from Virginia, a Virginia common wealth boy. I moved to Florida in 1975, I reside in Broward County.

S: You are a bondsmen and investigator right?

C: I am a licensed private investigator by the state of Florida, a licensed bondsmen in the state of Florida, and a licensed general contractor in the state of Florida.

S: You work for yourself right?

C: Yes I own Case Closed Inc. and Lighting Strike Force bail bonds company

S: Do you believe Haleigh is alive?

C: YES

S: Is Haleigh being passed around through different people?

C: Yes family type people. I will put it this way, law enforcement does not think a stranger is involved in the abduction.

S: Do you know who has her know?

C: If I did I would be hugging Haleigh right now not here with you.

S: Who has custody of Ron Jr.?

C: Ron Cummings has physical custody of Ron Jr. They live at Ron’s grandmothers in Welaka, Florida.

S: Do you think Ron Cummings is who he portrays himself to be for the media?
C: NO

S: Do you think Crystal Sheffield is who she portrays herself to be for the media?

C: NO I don’t think any of them have clean hands.

S: Are Nay Nay and Amber still part of the investigation?

C: Never were. I helped them by trying to get them into rehab to better themselves, but they have reneged on it.

S: Did you ask Ron to go back to the house for another look?

C: Yes, he initially said ok. It was planned for the following day. By that time he had lawyered up. And told me that anything you need you can talk to my lawyer about.

S: Is Ron out searching for his daughter?

C: Hell NO

S: Out of curiosity how much has your search for Haleigh cost you?

C: To date approximately $35,000

S: Are drugs a factor in Haleigh’s disappearance?

C: Ron allowed Misty to care for Haleigh and Jr. after days of partying on drugs. So yes drugs could be a factor.

S: Are you getting opposition from the local commutniy?

C: Yes but I have some support.

S: Could there be charges for Ron and or Misty when Haleigh is found?

C: Whoever did this needs to be charged

S: Has Ron ever helped you in your search for Haleigh?

C: NO

S: Has Ron ever thanked you for searching for Haleigh?

C: NO

S:How close are you to finding Haleigh?

C: Thats on God’s time table, I pray every day.

Haleigh's 25-year-old father has a history of minor drug arrests and has shown flashes of violent behavior. On the 911 call, he was convinced someone abducted his daughter and vowed to kill them. He has been living with his grandmother after losing his job for not making arrangements to keep it, though his attorneys say he was told he would be reinstated.

Court affidavits in a 2005 custody case with Haleigh's mother, Crystal Sheffield, accuse him of abuse and that "his chosen lifestyle and illegal business actions pose a severe risk to the children."

Croslin was 16 when she went to live with Cummings last year and was the one who reported Haleigh missing. On the weekend before Haleigh disappeared, Croslin was reported to have had a tryst with a 28-year-old while partying after a fight with Cummings. Haleigh's 23-year-old mother began living with Cummings when she was 14 and was pregnant with Haleigh at 17. Sheffield has been separated from Cummings since 2005. She has not had custody of their daughter or son, Ronald Jr., since then and now has a second daughter. Lack of employment, previous drug use and several missed doctor's appointments for Haleigh were discussed in the custody papers. She owes Cummings thousands in child support.

At the Haleigh Bug Center, a small roadside outpost in southern Putnam County that uses a nickname for her missing daughter, Sheffield and her supporters attempt to keep the public focused on the case. When she is not there, Sheffield is at home in Baker County with her younger daughter, where she lives with her fiancee, who is her stepbrother, and his two children. FAMILY CONNECTIONS

He and his wife gave legal consent for their daughter's marriage to Cummings. Weeks later, he filed a complaint with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office to say his new son-in-law gave him a pill that was supposed to help with pain from a serious traffic accident but instead put him in a coma. In the incident report, he said Cummings often gave him pain pills.
He later denied that Cummings gave him pills at any time or that he feared his son-in-law, according to a news release from Cummings' attorney.Joseph Overstreet

A Croslin family relative from Tennessee, Overstreet was accused of stealing a gun from Ronald Cummings soon after arriving for a visit. He left Putnam County the day Haleigh disappeared. His cousin, Croslin, said Overstreet had "messed" with her when both were young. Investigators cleared Overstreet of involvement in the disappearance.Amber Brooks

She is the 20-year-old mother of Cummings' other son, Jordan, who is disabled. Brooks has been arrested on drug charges, including attempting to smuggle cocaine into jail following an arrest in April at a Palatka motel known for drug activity. She also was charged in January with drug possession.

A friend of Brooks, she was arrested with her at the Palatka motel in April and charged with attempting to smuggle drugs into the jail. Four people were arrested on drug possession charges in that case.

Prevatt also is an acquaintance of Croslin and was with her the weekend before Haleigh disappeared. The two spent time partying with Greg "White Boy" Page. On the weekend before Haleigh disappeared during a night of partying and drugs, Page said he hooked up with Croslin with the help of Prevatt after her fight with Cummings. A South Florida attorney who is representing Sheffield for free, Picazio has made no bones about her determination to have Ronald Jr. taken from his father. She has met with the state Department of Children and Families, and the agency is investigating her allegations. Picazio also is paying for running the Haleigh Bug Center and said she has rented a house in Putnam for use by staffers who come and go from South Florida. A private investigator and bounty hunter, Staubs is an associate of Picazio's and is conducting much of her investigation. He once bailed Prevatt out of jail and returned her for breaking conditions of her release.

But today he amended that message -- he wants help from everyone except Cindy and George Anthony.

"The family of Ronald Cummings, father of Haleigh Cummings, wishes to make it clear that they do not want any involvement by George and Cindy Anthony in the continuing search for Haleigh Cummings," according to a news release issued by the Kimball & Snider Law Firm, which represents Cummings.

I know that your initial reaction is ‘go tell the cops’, well isn’t that exactly what happened with Roy Kronk in the Caylee Anthony case? The folks in Putnam County want to do things their own way, and I guess I can not fault them for that, I likely would react the same way. They are not open to outside help.

We have been following this case from day one, here we are almost four months later, and other than some name calling, I see no forward movement. In fact I was talking to a fellow journalist today, don’t jump to conclusions, it is no-one I have ever mentioned on BNN. “The good ole boy network again” was his comment.

Lets make a real big deal out of this case! One way or another it needs to be solved.

On Friday, Putnam County officials searched the 30-acre Baker County farm of missing Haleigh Cumming’s mother, Crystal Sheffield, and her grandmother, Marie Griffis.

Law enforcement used cadaver dogs in the search after they learned the family had buried horses on the property a few months ago. By midday, they had uncovered one dead horse.

Five-year-old Haleigh disappeared from her home in Feb. while her father, Ronald Cummings, was at work and his girlfriend, now wife, Misty, was taking care of Haleigh and her younger brother.

According to officials, they did not expect to find Haleigh’s body during the search, but told News 4 Jax.com they were conducting Friday’s exploration out of “due diligence.”

After completing the search on Griffis' land, the searchers moved over to another relative's property, a 25-acre tract.

About 40 investigators, including the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office dive team and cadaver dogs, came to Baker County early this morning and searched through a pond and under several trailers.

Investigators said they were just being thorough, and that they would be remiss if they didn't check the burials to confirm they are animals.

They said they have no reason to doubt the family's claim that only animals are buried there, but felt they needed to be thorough.

Griffis' property was checked already, but it was during the first week of the investigation, and it wasn't a very thorough search at that time, according to investigators.

Haleigh's mother, Crystal Sheffield, also lives on that property in Baker County.

Misty is now the legal stepmother of Haleigh and Rj so leaving the children with her before, IMO, is no worse of a choice than leaving them with her now...which the state says is in their best interest.

The environment was declared to be fit as per DCF.

Their lifestyles evidently have proven to be such that the state feels comfortable leaving a 4 year old child involved in and feels is in his best interest.

This office has been advised verbally by Attorney Kevin Caldwell of the Palatka office of the Florida Division of Children and Families that their investigation is closed with no factual finding of abuse against Ronald Cummings.We are awaiting the written report.

Ronald Cummings Jr. will continue to reside with and be in the custody of Ronald Cummings.

Ronald Cummings and Misty Croslin Cummings have both agreed to take parenting classes, which is a standard precaution that DCF seeks.

2.Visitation and Issues Related to Ronald Cummings, Jr.

This office and Attorney Kim Picazio, who represents Crystal Sheffield, have reached an agreement that has been judicially approved, regarding Ronald Cummings, Jr. and parental rights.As stated, Ronald Cummings, Jr. will continue to be in the care and custody of Ronald Cummings.

3.Investigation into Disappearance of Haleigh Cummings

This office has provided information to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office that we believe may be beneficial in the search for Haleigh, but at this point in time there is nothing further for us to do.

4.Termination of Representation

.Yesterday was quite a day in the Haleigh Cummings story. What had been on the insider rumor mill for weeks actually came to pass. Crystal Shefield fired attorney Kim Picazio. You notice the use of the word ‘fired’, well that was what happened.

It was with humor that I read this comment emailed to BNN from another site:

FYI - Art asked me to let all of you know that Kim Picazio just resigned as Crystal’s’ lawyer, and sent an e-mail to PCSD this morning as to same.

Rubbish, she was canned. Picazio had become a huge obstacle in moving the case in any direction. I will not resort to the gutter tactics employed by certain web sites but I will share a little information. What the general public may not be aware of is that a heated war of words has been raging for weeks in email. And while Picazio was not the instigator, she was certainly a willing participant. As the venom grew, so did the CC list. Often the content of the email was overshadowed by the CC list.

CNN, Fox News, Putnan County, the FBI, oh it made for an interesting read!

Most of us included in this ‘lofty’ group opted to sit back and watch the drama unfold. And unfold it did, each day brought new and entertaining accusations, most on a schoolboy vendetta level. This in my mind was a potentially career damaging move. While most of us press types merely enjoyed a ’round the water cooler’ chuckle over the steady stream of asinine exchanges, it was clear that some on the CC list might take a slightly different view.

It became not a question of ‘IF’ just a question of when. I am sure that Picazio has learned a great deal from her 15 minutes of fame. Not all fame is good for your career. One lesson learned early on in my life was in a sport I participated in, the only way to move forward was to take on opponents that were better than you. Picazio derailed herself by getting embroiled in a pointless email war with someone who no one has ever heard of, and to put the icing on the cake, does this in front of us all. Ouch!

I pick my battles wisely, and this is one battlefield I am glad I kept out of.

The upside of this development is that maybe, just maybe, the case can move forward once more. Get the personalities out of the equation and who knows where this can go, and how quickly. Haleigh Cummings father Ron also finds himself without representation. His lawyer has withdrawn from the case stating:

I suspect that Law Enforcement is also interested in these developments, maybe Ronald Cummings will once more be willing to get around the table and talk.

I am also sure that there are elements of the investigation team that are shedding few tears about the loss of Picazio. Grumbles abound that Picazio was leaking confidential information to the press. Well she certainly was not doing it to us at Blogger News, but, there are enough bread crumbs left to trace an interesting trail to another web site. That is speculation, but I am certain that if this ever became a legal issue it would make for a very interesting series of discovery.

For five months we have been sidelined and snowed with BS. Maybe we can once more get to the solution, where is Haleigh Cummings?

97.3 The Sky learned Thursday afternoon that the attorneys for the biological parents of missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings of Satsuma may have been released.

Kim Picazio, the attorney representing Haleigh’s mother, Crystal Sheffield, on a pro-bono basis confirmed by telephone to 97.3 The Sky Thursday at 6:31 p.m. ET that she had filed the paperwork in court earlier that day for termination of representation.

Picazio chose not to go on the record when asked how this decision came about. However, Crystal Sheffield’s mother, Marie Griffis, claims Picazio was fired over alleged inside leaks in the investigation.

Apparently Ronald Cummings has released his attorneys as well as indicated in this written statement from the Law Office of Kimball and Snider:

Five months have passed since she was reported missing, and all but a few journalists have moved on to other stories. A few of us through have kept the little girls picture in the limelight. TJ Hart of The Sky 97.3 and ourselves here at BNN have refused to let this story die.

I know that we likely have made few friends as a result, but we are determined to see this through to the conclusion, whatever that might be.

Fed up with the bickering and sideshows that follow this case like a rash, we decided to take a slightly different approach and try and focus on the core item, lets find this missing child. It looks like our positive pressure is finally paying some dividends. I have it on good authority that CNN’s Headline News will be airing a special segment at 5:10pm Eastern today. Although it is only a 10 minute slot, it looks like they are going to be broaching some key areas that many of the general public may not be aware of.

It seems that the local elected officials have been getting some mail and email from concerned citizens regarding the disappearance and seeming lack of progress by law enforcement.

Other items slated for discussion include the rather strange decision to cancel the 2nd FDLE Round Table, why was it canceled?

A new search has been requested for a property near where Haleigh was taken from.

Private investigator assembles new team and sends ground units to Tennessee to follow some leads that she may be living there

Is Law Enforcement urging family members NOT to talk to the press?

Clarification concerning who the lead investigator is?

Much of this news may not come as a surprise to BNN readers, or listeners to our weekly radio show, but it will come as a big surprise to the general public. Let us hope that with this burst of media interest we can look forward to a resolution of the Haleigh Cummings story.

Ronald Cummings, the father of missing Satsuma 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings, was booked into the Putnam County jail at 1 a.m. on a felony charge of burglary with battery.

Cummings is charged with fighting with a brother-in-law late Wednesday.

According to the Putnam County jail's booking desk, Cummings was being in lieu of $12,004 in bail set at a first appearance this morning.

Cummings was arrested about midnight.

Cummings' grandmother said the arrest came following a fight between Cummings and his wife's brother at her house.

Annette Sykes said Tommy Croslin, his father and mother came to her mobile home in Welaka at 10:45 p.m. and were trying to get Misty Cummings into their van but she refused. Sykes said Croslin hit Cummings and started a fight.

Croslin could not be reached this morning.

During the fight, Croslin went into the van and Cummings swung at him in the vehicle, Sykes said.

Croslin and his parents left and deputies arrived at Sykes' later in the night and made the arrest.

Sgt. Stacey Dowling of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said Cummings was charged with burglary because he went into the vehicle without permission.

Cummings' daughter has been the focus of a missing child investigation since she disappeared from his residence in Satsuma Feb. 10. Investigators have nearly 5,000 leads they continue to follow in the case.

No arrests have been made in that case.

Ronald Cummings is accused of putting the dead animal in the mailbox of the home where his wife's brother, Hank Croslin Jr., lives, WJXT-TV reported.

Haleigh Cummings disappeared Feb. 10 from her father's home where his 17-year-old girlfriend, Misty Croslin, also lived. They have since married.

Last Thursday, Ronald Cummings was arrested after a fight with his new wife's relatives. He posted bond and was released later that day. Cummings claimed his in-laws started the fight and he signed an affidavit against Hank Croslin Jr., and his father, Hank Croslin Sr.

On Saturday afternoon, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office was called to the Croslins' home after the dead rat was found in the mailbox. Deputies were told that a neighbor witnessed Ronald Cummings' truck slow down just after midnight and the driver placed something in Croslin's mailbox.

"One of my neighbors seen him drive by in his truck and put the rat in our mailbox, so we know they did it," Croslin Jr. said. "It kind of scares me because I always heard that was like a death threat, a threat against someone's life, when you cut a rat's head off and stick it in someone's mailbox."

The deputy who investigated the complaint wrote that Hank Croslin Jr. and his parents told him they felt threatened by Ronald Cummings.

Deputies contacted Cummings, but the sheriff's office would not discuss the case. Lt. Johnny Greenwood did issue this statement on Wednesday:

"This incident is not related to the investigation of missing five year-old Haleigh Cummings; therefore, we will not be participating in interviews or providing statements regarding this incident. Our only objective is, and always has been, finding Haleigh Cummings and returning her home to her family."

Cummings also did not want to talk about the incident, saying only "authorities will work things out."

WELAKA, Fla. -- The Putnam County Sheriff's Office announced on Monday it believes Haleigh Cummings was abducted by someone who knew her.

Monday was the missing girl's sixth birthday and investigators said they have yet to identify a person of interest, but believe Haleigh's father's wife may hold answers in the investigation.

"Investigators believe that Misty Croslin-Cummings continues to hold important answers in the case. She has failed to provide any sort of detailed accounting of the hours during the late evening and early morning of Haleigh’s disappearance. Furthermore, physical evidence at the scene contradicts Misty’s sketchy account of her evening activities," Sheriff Jeff Hardy said in a news release.

Hardy said Haleigh's biological parents, Ronald Cummings and Crystal Sheffield, are not considered suspects.

Haleigh disappeared from her father's Satsuma home in February.

Hardy said there is no evidence to indicate that her disappearance was the work of a stranger.

To mark Haleigh's birthday, her family organized a balloon release and prayer service on Sunday.

The service was held at the First Baptist Church in Welaka, and family members released red and purple balloons -- each one stuffed with a flyer of information about Haleigh.

Haleigh's family said they hope someone will see the flyer and will be able to help police find her, WJXT-TV reported.

A birthday celebration was also held for Haleigh on Monday afternoon, her family said. They gathered at River Park in Putnam County and released red and purple balloons with flyers attached at 2:16 p.m. -- exactly 12 hours after Haleigh was born.

Meanwhile, a Texas-based search group will conduct another search Haleigh within the coming weeks.

Haleigh Remembered On 6th Birthday
The thought of Haleigh's sixth birthday transformed her grandmother's face into a portrait of anguish.

"You can't celebrate a birthday when she's not here," grandmother Teresa Neves said.


Haleigh Cummings disappeared from her Satsuma home on Feb. 9.


Haleigh vanished from her bed on a cold February morning.

"I can definitely say she has not been forgotten," Greenwood said.

The news release from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office stated that investigators don't believe a stranger kidnapped Haleigh, but they are looking for more information from Croslin-Cummings. Haleigh disappeared on her watch.

"All it's going to take is one small piece of information. Like I said, somebody out there knows what happened," Greenwood said.

Countless searches have been completed since Haleigh's disappearance. and 4,000 leads have been received by authorities. Some of them have taken investigators as far away as Tennessee.

And there were the unexpected events like when Haleigh's father proposed to his 16-year-old girlfriend. A recent family feud ended with him being jailed.

On Haleigh's birthday, her father and his new wife were together, but six months have passed, and the girl remains missing.

Investigators said they believe Haleigh could still be alive, and they have no evidence to believe otherwise. Greenwood said they're waiting for new leads and reworking old ones.

"We've actually got an agent with the (Florida Department of Law Enforcement) right now who is assigned to us to go back through tips, just reviewing to see if there's any tip that might not have been investigated," Greenwood said.


Balloons Released With Fliers Inside
On her birthday, Haleigh's family didn't miss the chance to get her face back out in the public. They sponsored a nationwide balloon release, with fliers containing her information.

"When they take it out of the balloon, or when it falls, they'll look at it, and possibly, hopefully, if they've seen Haleigh, they'll recognize her and call law enforcement," great-grandmother Annette Sykes said.

Haleigh's family keeps reminders of her everywhere. Shrines contain pictures, pieces of her little-girl makeup and presents she has never opened.

And there's pain.

"It just hurts, and it's a lot of pain. You get up every day, praying this is the day she comes home, and you go to bed praying," Neves said.

Haleigh's family can't forget, but their biggest fear is that the rest of the world will.

Orlando attorney Make NeJame and Texas EquuSearch founder Tim Miller also announced they're teaming up to search for Haleigh.





Miller said the search will take place in four to six weeks, when he believes weather conditions and vegetation will be more conducive to finding the girl.

The search has spanned thousands of acres of land to date, including all of the area near the Cummings' home. Aerial and underwater searches have also been conducted.

PALATKA -- The search for Haleigh Cummings may have taken another dramatic twist.

A letter written by an inmate in the Putnam County Jail said Haleigh Cummings died of a drug overdose.

The letter was written by Kristina Prevatt, who is currently jailed on drug charges. Prevatt is an acquaintance of Haleigh's stepmother, Misty Cummings.

In the letter, Prevatt claims she was interrogated last week by investigators in the Cummings case. She also made claims that another acquaintance of Misty Cummings, Joe Pytko, gave detectives a sworn affidavit that detailed how Haleigh died.

"(He said) we were all over at a party at Chad's house and HaleIgh got a hold of some Oxycontin and died. We supposedly freaked out and Greg put her (Haleigh) in a black bag in my car, and we took her to a pond," Prevatt said in the letter.

The information in the letter might have led to last weekend's search of the L Pond at Mondex in Putnam County.

Prevatt also said in the letter that detectives took her car from a junk yard for DNA testing.

The letter was obtained by The Sky 97.3 FM News Talk radio in Gainesville.

Sheriff’s officials said they drained the pond because the water was too murky, but told the media various excuses as to what they were searching for, ranging from training to looking for drugs, to recovering stolen property taken from another nearby home.

Even if they were not specifically looking for drugs, searchers did find about 100 potted marijuana plants along the water’s edge early Saturday morning.

Finally, Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy released a statement before noon Saturday that the search was, indeed, for new clues in the Haleigh Cummings case, though he dispelled rumors that they had found a body.

Did 5-Year-Old Haleigh Cummings OD on Oxycontin? a letter to her boyfriend Donnie Spells that an inmate named Joe Pytco swore in an affidavit that Haleigh accidentally overdosed on oxycontin.


Nay Nay Prevatt denies the overdose story, saying she was with Donnie at his house the night Haleigh disappeared. In the letter, Prevatt threatened to slap Ptyco in the face if she ever sees him again for putting her in the middle of a homicide investigation.


While the Pytco and Tommy Croslin accounts has not been proven accurate, they are complementary in that they both place Misty out of the trailer during critical hours the evening of February 9. Ronald Cummings' phone records, showing 20 calls placed to Misty after 8:30 pm, calls which he says went unanswered, also lend credence to the theory that Misty Croslin Cummings was not in the trailer during the late evening hours of February 9.

An accidental overdose would also be consistent with reports from Ronald Cummings' family that Misty loved Haleigh and they don't believe she would have harmed her.

But with so many false stories circulating and with the credibility issues plaguing so many of the people interviewed in the investigation, the drug overdose story will be a hard one to verify or disprove without hard evidence.

Haha skeptik,,,I feel ya,,,I tried to keep track of this case,,,then the document dump came from the Caylee case,(,then got sick )so still didn't get through them,,,so I'm, also way behind here but yesterday something caught my eye on Hearts for Haleigh and I've been reading there and on Scared Monkeys ever since. Since before Halloween there have been twists & turns, mostly between the people reporting on it (Art Harris, Cobra, etc),,there is so much and it's SO confusing I'd be copying & pasting till my hands fell off,,,,,,I don't know if I'm allowed,,maybe a mod will let me know,,,,I can post a link to the SM website and HFH and you can read all if interested, or you can just check them out for yourself,,,

Hi skeptik! I haven't seen much new info on this case,,from what I read last week, I don't know this to be all fact, her mom, Marie, was Twittering that Crystal was still praying that Haleigh is coming back, their faith in strong, she has her new baby (Chloe ???) and gets Ron, Jr. every other weekend. She may have a new lawyer who is quietly working on her custody case. She has had some health problems, some speculate that she may be trying to get her condition under control before she goes for custody. Of course, she may be doing as LE requests of her and maybe they want Ron to hang himself on his own rope (drugs, assault,,you know all his favorites) and lose custody.

I'm really late joining in on this conversation, so forgive me if my thoughts and ideas are things that you guys have discussed a long time ago. I just thought I would give my .02 cents about what I think happened.

We all know that Ron and Misty have been known or rumored to have been involved in drugs. Both of my major theories revolve around drugs...

Theory one:

Misty and Ron stash drugs in the house. Anything from meth to oxy (I'm thinking oxy). Haleigh finds the drugs, somehow gets the drugs in her system and overdoses while Ron is working. Misty, knowing that she will be prosecuted for a crime if Haleigh is taken to a doctor, hopes Haleigh gets through the event... but she doesn't. Haleigh eventually dies from the overdose. Misty panics, buries Haleigh in an unknown location, and proceeds to lie to everyone that she doesn't know what happened to the little girl.

Theory two:

Misty sold Haleigh for drugs.

Either way, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that Misty is keeping something back. She can deny it all she wants, she isn't that good of an actress.

On the Haleigh Cummings story it was a relatively slow week with little of any substance directly pertaining to the search being released.

On the periphery though there was still lots to talk about. The internet has been awash with allegations that one of the several Haleigh forums is in fact being run by a man who is a convicted child molester. The claims are that in the early 1990’s he raped two girls under the age of 14.

There is also a good deal of speculation doing the rounds about the so called benefit concert held in Austin, Texas. The proceeds of which were supposed to go to Tim Miller’s Equusearch group, Levi Page has been doing some investigating and revealed on air that he has spoken with TES and they have received no money whatsoever from this event. Clearly tickets were sold, although how many is a huge unknown. One set of rumors has it that sales were far less than anticipated, and after costs there was nothing left to donate. This scenario makes for a certain amount sense, while the Haleigh Cumming story has garnered nation and even international attention, holding a cencert in Austin is akin to holding a fund-raiser for your local small town High School Marching Band three states away! Why didn’t the band hold this benefit in Gainsville, Jacksonville, or Ocala, where the Haleigh story is so much better known?

Misty Croslin’s uncle Tommy managed to get himself arrested over a drug issue, and Ruby Kanger’s legal problems continue on in Kentucky.

It appears thet Ronald Cummings via his lawyer has retained at least one private investigator. I guess Ron himself is too busy chasing exotic dancers to be out searching for his missing daughter!

The often villified former pro-bono attorney for the biological mother of 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings who was abducted from her Satsuma, FL home in February is walking away this week with some sense of vindication.

The Florida Bar Association has dismissed the complaints against attorney Kim Picazio alleged by Crystal Sheffield < The Florida Bar File No. 2010-50,286 (171) >.
In the complaint, Crystal Sheffield alleged:

"...Ms. Picazio violated Rule 4-1.6 by disclosing confidential information concerning her representation of Crystal related to the search and investigation of her missing child, Haleigh Cummings. Crystal also contend that Ms. Picazio did not act with diligence in filing a modification of he child support. Ms. Picazio responded to the allegations in the complaint and rebuttal with specific denials of each allegation and a detailed history of her involvement in the case."

One of the findings in the complaint was rather harmful to Crystal Sheffield and the perception some may have of her:
"...Ms. Picazio also contends that your current living situation, health concerns, inability to work, and drug addiction/seizures prevented her from filing a petition for a change in custody. All lawyers, as officers of the court, have an obligation to refrain from filing frivolous pleadings or papers, and may.be subject tocourt-imposed sanctions for having done so, This.is an area that falls within the exercise of professional judgment by the lawyer, and is not appropriate as a reason for discipline to be imposed."


In this 97.3 The Sky exclusive podcast interview, attorney Kim Picazio blames a blogger for spreading falsehoods over the internet and worming her way into the confidence of Marie Griffis and Crystal Sheffield.

Some of the more volatile claims Picazio made in the interview suggested that the blogger-in-question was also involved as a moderator for a Haleigh Cummings forum that was operated by a high risk sex offender.

Picazio did not refer to the blogger by name. Picazio later told The Sky that she advised Crystal Sheffield and Marie Griffis against the now controversial Sam Watkins Concert and wanted Pay-Pal links and wording on the Haleighbug Center website that asked for donations to be removed.

Haleigh Cummings is described as a now 6 year old white female. She is approximately 3'0, 39 lbs, blonde hair & brown eyes. Unknown clothing description.

Haleigh was last seen at her residence in the Hermit's Cove area of Putnam County on February 9, 2009 between the hours of 8-10pm.

A statewide Amber Alert has been issued. An additional $30,000 in rewards have been posted.

For some reason, I think there's more to it than seizures and drugs. Ron might have something on her (or both of them). He's just pure white trash slime and has probably threatened her. If Crystal just bides her time, she could very well end up with custody, and Ron, Jr. seems pretty safe for now (at least more than before).

I also wouldn't be surprised at all if Ron knows more about Haleigh than what he's letting on. It still baffles me about where they get enough money to buy all their illegal shit, yet just go through the motions of looking for Haleigh. Just disgusting.

The father of the woman who was at home when Haleigh went missing has been arrested for doctor shopping.


Police say 41-year old Hank Croslin Senior acquired hundreds of Oxycodone and Hydrocodone pills from three different doctors earlier this year.


Croslin has been charged with withholding information from a practitioner.


Police found this information as part of their investigation into the disappearance of the young girl.

There have been a series of arrests of family members connected to this case, but none have been involved with the disappearance.

Staubs also ran into a bit of trouble with the law while in Satsuma. He was arrested and charged with the false imprisonment of an accused capital child sex offender after the man, Daniel Snodgrass who was out on $70,000 bond awaiting trial, had allegedly caused trouble at the Haleigh Bug information center where children were present.

According to Jane Velez Mitchell or Nancy Grace the night before last, Misty was back in Satsuma. I've not seen any news on that, but may have missed it due to the crunch of the holiday. Is there any news? I would think the LE would be keeping an eye on her, given her status of the last person to see Haleigh alive, and an uncooperative witness who knows more than she has disclosed.

(If her stories really are complete, she may not know more because of her heavy drugging when Haleigh disappeared.)

OH for sure Misty is back in Satsuma...some of the articles posted say that she is back living with her friend Nay Nay and they are all at the Tommy Croslin residence.

Gosh, I thought maybe it took 25 minutes to count all the change they may have brought in for the bond payment.


Yeah, Misty came back from TN (visiting her grandmother) to drop the protective order against Tommy on Nov. 16. I believe.

I have also heard that Nay Nay was at Tommy's house with Misty when Tommy got arrested on a domestic violence charge against his own father on Nov. 19.

And then the father got arrested for doctor shopping on Nov. 24.

Probably could make some money setting up bets on who will be next to jail.

Although it is the Thanksgiving long weekend we will be running our regular Sunday program to look at the events in the search for missing Florida child Haleigh Cummings.

The panel is still being finalized but on the ‘for certain’ list is Simon and Jan Barrett, ace reporter for WSKY 97.3 TJ Hart, and investigator William Cobra Staubs. I am also hoping that we will be joined by crime writer Denny Griffin and investigative journalist Levi Page.

Another of the Croslin family found themselves under the bus this week. Hank Croslin Sr. was arrested on charges of doctor shopping. It is alleged that he obtained over 300 tablets of oxycodone and hydrocodone from at least three different doctors. The interesting aspect of this is that the arrest was made by FDLE rather than PCSO. While there may be no significance to this, one has to wonder the rationale. FDLE have stated that while Hank Croslin Sr’s activity has nothing to do with the search for Haleigh Cummings they will take the opportunity to talk to him about the case.

Scuttlebutt that hit my radar today concerns father Ronald Cummings, one would think that in his time of loss he would seek solace in his family, apparently though he opted to avoid his family on Thanksgiving.

Does Crystal Sheffield have a new MySpace page? If she does, then things may not be well in her relationship with Chad.

Was the comment left here on BNN really by Teresa Neves? The jury is out on that one. It certainly came from the heart, and if it is legitimate it was truly a plea with feeling and we here at BNN heard you loud and clear.

It was also pleasing to see that the Nancy Grace program gave 15 minutes to the the story on Thanksgiving Day, while the cast left something to be desired, at least the subject was given some air time. And for that we should be grateful.

Haleigh Cummings has been missing since February, Law Enforcement maintains that her disappearance was not a stranger abduction. A family member or close friend had to have been involved. But who? None of us in the press are privy to the investigation, in fact extracting information from them is akin to having a root canal performed by someone with a Black & Decker power drill.

I am sure that Law Enforcement is as frustrated as we are. I’ll make an offer that I have made before. Give us something to chew on. We can shake the trees, and that is what is needed.

There are several of us in the press that will not let this case become cold. Lets try and resolve the Haleigh Cummings mystery.

Another subject that we will be discussing is the capital murder case against Casey Anthony. Casey Anthony is accused of killing her young daughter Caylee Anthony. Although her defense team make mumbling noises about how they are being paid, or if indeed they are being paid at all. One thing is very clear, money abounds. Who is the money bags paying for this defense? I have some theories, but, at this stage I think that I will avoid that subject.

One of the ‘esteemed’ defense lawyers is Andrea Lyon. Ms Lyon brags that she has never lost a Capital Crime case. This is good for the defendant, but maybe not so stellar for the family of the deceased. Earlier this week a story surfaced, Ms. Lyon was giving a lecture, and explained that there are:

Always killers on the jury, and there are some, the ammunition they need to go after people… juries go about persuading people to kill.. and protect your live people from the killers.

Oops, that was not the smartest comment to make. Ms. Lyon managed to get the story yanked from the news site involved. But the sentiment was clear. Justice is not about fairness or the truth, it is about finding ways to weasel your client out of trouble.

Long a topic popping up around the forums has been the question of does the Cummings family make money off their missing child? As with everything else, it is argued both ways and many feel both families have done pretty well, but with most photographs of Haleigh belonging to the Cummings family – it is assumed they by far have done the best with the money. It angers a lot of posters, needless to say, as they mention the pictures on Nancy Grace marked with Teresa Neve’s name. It is assumed money is exchanged for those pictures. Even more in question than the pictures are the tv appearances by Ronald Cummings and the pictures of Haleigh that have appeared with his on air visits. Was he paid for the pics? Most peeps agree that networks do not pay for the appearance, but do pay large sums for exclusive use of pics. Also mentioned frequently is the video taping of the backyard wedding of Ronald and Misty! Was it sold? With none of the main players in the Cummings family working, it does make one wonder.

Always noted for the Sheffield/Griffis family is the 12K donated to Crystal Sheffield for several years of back child support payments, Haleigh Bug Center donations, etc..
