Police say Housley, 43, admitted to pushing his parents down the stairs, slitting their throats and hitting them in the head with a baseball bat.

The bodies were found a couple of days later after relatives expressed concern to police for not having heard from them.

Vincent Housley lived in the home at the time. He was found later that night at a Tukwila motel.

Housley is being held on $2 million bail pending his arraignment Feb. 18.

King County prosecutors filed the charges Monday against 43-year-old Vincent W. Housley.

The bodies of 67-year-old Karen Housley and 66-year-old Joe Housley were found in their home Wednesday by another son.

Court documents allege that Vincent Housley, who was living with his parents, argued with them on Feb. 1 and wound up stabbing them and beating them with a baseball bat.

He was arrested Wednesday night at a motel in Tukwila. Court documents say he told police he had been smoking large amounts of crack cocaine, and sold his mother's 2006 Buick Lacrosse for an ounce of rock cocaine.

If convicted as charged, Housley faces a standard sentence of 46 to 59 years in prison. Arraignment is scheduled Feb. 18.

Vincent W. Housley, 43, went against his lawyer's advice and pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder for stabbing Joe and Karen Housley in their Kent home on Feb. 1 and beating them with a wooden baseball bat.

Though suspects rarely plead guilty so soon in court proceedings, the heaveyset man "did it because he thought that's what would be best for his family," said his attorney, Richard Lichtenstadter.

Housley told Judge Douglass North the crime "just happened in a split second" --though he acknowledged upon questioning by King County Deputy Prosecutor John Castleton that he had time to go into different rooms and even retrieve a second knife during the attacks.

In writing, Housley said he was "extremely high on cocaine" when he argued with his father and became enraged.

"I am extremely sorry and wish this never happened," he said in his written statement.

Prosecutors will ask that Housley be sent to prison for 55 years. A sentencing date had not been set.

"Karen and Joe Housley were on the verge of retirement, and were beloved members of the community," Prosecutor Dan Satterberg said. "This plea will not ease the pain of their surviving family and friends, but it will bring quick finality to the case, and deliver what will effectively be a life sentence to Vincent Housely."http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/401123_stab24.html
Housley is accused of beating and stabbing his parents on Feb. 1 during a cocaine binge. Prosecutors allege he then returned to their home a day later and took his mother's car, which he traded for an ounce of cocaine.

According to charging papers, Dennis Housley, the slain couple's other son, and his wife became worried after not hearing from his parents after a trip to Spokane. Deputies went to the house and found it locked, with the couple's truck and trailer parked out front.

Dennis Housley and his wife drove up from Portland to his parents' house in the 21200 block of 124th Avenue Southeast and found the bodies inside, according to the charging papers. Vincent Housley had been living with his parents but was not at home when police arrived.

Detectives found Housley smoking on the balcony of a Tukwila motel, according to court documents. Police said he had checked into the motel using his father's credit card, the documents said. His father's 1988 Buick Regal was parked outside.http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2008775933_webparentsslain23m.html

Housley initially denied any involvement in his parents' deaths. But, according to charging documents, he later admitted he had killed them both after an argument at the home.

Two days before the murders, Housley began smoking large quantities of crack cocaine, he told investigators. After killing his parents, he said he ransacked their home for cash, credit cards and valuable items he could sell for cash to buy drugs.http://www.komonews.com/news/40096832.html

Vincent W. Housley, 43

Dudes a low life scumbag, but he is Manning up for the crime and bringing a quick end to something that could have dragged on for years and years. He is showing actual remorse for his actions. I know if I was a family member it would certainly make closure for me easier.

Son pleads guilty to murders

A man who admitted he stabbed and beat his parents while "extremely high on cocaine" ignored his lawyer's advice Monday by promptly pleading guilty in the two murders.

Vincent W. Housley decided on the plea less than three weeks after Joe and Karen Housley were found dead in their Kent home because "he thought that's what would be best for his family," said his attorney, Richard Lichtenstadter.

The lawyer said he didn't have time to explore any possible defenses, including whether Housley's drug use made him incapable of premeditation or whether he suffered any mental problems.

He didn't even have the chance to review hundreds of pages of police reports and other evidence before Housley's plea abruptly ended what could have been a months- or years-long wait for a trial.

In Superior Court, Housley said the killings "just happened in a split second," but he acknowledged upon questioning by King County Deputy Prosecutor John Castleton that he had time to go into different rooms and even retrieve a second knife during the attacks.

The heavyset 43-year-old said he thought about killing his parents "for a brief moment in time" and admitted, after hesitating for a few long moments, that he knew what he was doing despite smoking crack.

He acknowledged being "extremely high on cocaine" when he got into an argument with his father, became enraged and ended up killing both of his parents.

"I am extremely sorry and wish this never happened," he said in a written statement.

His brother, sister-in-law and aunt sat quietly during Monday's court hearing and left quickly afterward.

Housley faces 44 to 57 years in prison when he is sentenced for two first-degree murder charges in the coming weeks; a date had not been set. Prosecutors will recommend a 55-year prison term.

"This plea will not ease the pain of their surviving family and friends, but it will bring quick finality to the case and deliver what will effectively be a life sentence to Vincent Housley."

Housley's crack-cocaine habit already had landed him behind bars on numerous occasions, cost him his job and wrecked his marriage, according to court documents.

He eventually admitted beating his parents with a wooden baseball bat, stabbing them with knives and ransacking their home office for valuables he could sell for drugs.

The day after the murders, according to court documents, he sold their other car for an ounce of crack.
