A Burlington man is facing charges after police say he falsely reported a plane crash at Plattsburgh International Airport that disrupted a commercial flight's landing.
According to reports, Nicholas Santo, 50, was taking off in small plane as a Cape Air flight from Boston prepared to land. The runway lights were intensified for the landing. That's when Santo allegedly began radioing that they were blinding him causing his plane to veer into a snowbank and flip.
However, he had really taken off.
The Cape Air flight was diverted as crews searched for the plane.
Santo is charged with filing a false report and harassment.
