Rowdy Robles in 2004 (age 10) A Wise County teenager died over the weekend when he fell on a spiked fence while running away after being caught breaking into a pickup.
He was identified as Rowdy Robles, 15.
The Wise County sheriff's office said the youth was one of three boys spotted by an Aurora homeowner breaking into a neighbor's pickup shortly before midnight Friday.
The homeowner, Trent Tabor, said he saw the three laughing and joking loudly as they walked across yards on his street.
When he saw them go up his neighbor's driveway and try to break into the neighbor's truck, Tabor said, he intervened.
"As he tried to open the door, I had my flashlight in my hand and hit him in the head with my flashlight," he said.
Tabor and his neighbor held down the boy that Tabor hit – who turned out to be the 13-year-old brother of Robles – while the sheriff's office was called.
The other two boys ran.
Robles didn't get far.
Wise County Sheriff David Walker said the 15-year-old apparently fell and cut his leg after standing on a trash can to get over a spiked wrought-iron fence. The boy collapsed 75 feet from the fence and may have bled to death. Autopsy results are pending.
A homeowner found the body Saturday morning, after noticing a trail of blood leading away from the trash can.
The third boy got away.
Tabor called the death needless.
"He lost a life, and they lost a family member and it was just over some kids [who] thought they would go steal some stuff," he said.http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/localnews/stories/020909dnmetwisedeath.34650212.html
While officials with the sheriff's department said foul play is not suspected, emotions in the case appear to be running high.
When a CBS 11 News crew went to gather information they encountered two people claiming to be brothers of the dead 15-year-old.
Unprovoked, they yelled obscenities while walking into one homeowner's yard, across the street from where Rowdy Slade Robles body was found. "My f%/k#@* brother is over there laying on the f&%k#@ ground dead," the two brothers yelled.
The homeowner said the treats against him were unnerving. "He was threatening to beat us and punch us," the man explained. "It was a little frightening."
Pending the results of an autopsy, police are investigating the discovery of Robles body as a Questionable Death. Officials are expected to charge the 13-year-old with burglary of a motor vehicle.http://cbs11tv.com/local/Rowdy.Slade.Robles.2.929646.html
