INDEPENDENCE, La. -- Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards says a 15-year-old girl missing since Feb. 1 was found in Chicago on Monday, and a 45-year-old man was taken into custody.

Edwards says deputies were talking with the girl's family to arrange her return to Independence. He says they're also talking with police in Chicago to arrange the extradition of 45-year-old Christopher Jones of Independence to Tangipahoa Parish.

Although investigators believed at first that the teenager had run away, investigators said late last week that they believed she might be held against her will.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Dawn Panepinto says Jones was being held on one count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle but more charges are possible.
