The link I just posted says that Equusearch is calling off the search, when she was just abducted Monday night at 9:30.
Call me crazy but I don't understand why they are calling off the search. I understand they might not have much to go on, and the Houston area is pretty big-but it just feels like they are giving up to me.

I put this on here to avoid double-posting. At the very least, put the victim's name in the title for search purposes folks! Saves the mods from combining threads...
From the above article:
Despite a family’s plea, the Texas Equusearch team made the tough decision Thursday to pull out, for now, from searching for Susana de Jesus. She was kidnapped late Monday from an upscale Pearland shopping center.
De Jesus was walking to her car when she was abducted at gunpoint, according to the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Department. A co-worker told deputies the gunman forced de Jesus into her black Cadillac and drove away.
Tim Miller, who is with Texas Equusearch, spent much of Thursday retracing de Jesus’ known whereabouts. He went to empty fields near the location where de Jesus’ abandoned car was found. He said the problem is that there’s too much land to search and no leads to narrow the task.

Miller had to console her about Thursday’s decision. He said the decision was based partly on the bottom line.
The FBI is not giving up. They are continuing the search for the missing woman.
Meanwhile, for the next seven days, officials at the Shadow Creek Community Church say that they are encouraging members and community neighbors to pray a consistent prayer for de Jesus, 37, and their community safety as a whole.

I have been following this one on the Houston news stations. It's not looking good.

I sure do hope I'm wrong about this...
This is not the first time they have pulled out seemingly early and with not real explainable reason. I'm starting to get a bad feeling about TES in that these may be fund raising tactics.
In Orlando they got $5K to "keep searching" and if I recall correctly they did the same in another location shortly after.
TES is based near Houston and the costs associated with searching there have to be lower than in any other place they might go.
As a contributor to TES, I hate speaking poorly about them because I DO believe in their abilities. If I didn't voice my concerns I'd feel like a hypocrite.
As I said, I sure do hope I'm wrong in my suspicions.

Brazoria County sheriff's deputies said a co-worker saw a man wearing a ski mask force Susana De Jesus into her own car after she left her job at Catherine's Plus Sizes clothing boutique on Smith Ranch Road near F.M. 518 at about 9:15 p.m. Monday.
De Jesus and the armed man left in her car while a second man in another vehicle, possibly an accomplice, quickly followed them, deputies said.
De Jesus' vehicle, a 2008 black Cadillac, was later found at an apartment complex in the 6000 block of Airport Boulevard in southwest Houston, investigators said.
A surveillance camera at an ATM machine in the 3600 block of Old Spanish Trail snapped a picture of the abductor through a partially open door shortly after the abduction, deputies said.
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/hotstories/6245052.html
De Jesus’ 38-year-old husband, Gregorio, was killed on May 2 when his Corvette crashed into a concrete bridge support and burst into flames on the Gulf Freeway.
Kincheloe said De Jesus' co-worker waited about two hours after the abduction before calling police.
“Each person reacts differently to these things,” Kincheloe said, adding that the co-worker was “very shocked and scared” by the incident.
“She is cooperating with us fully” and is not a suspect, he said.
Store spokeswoman Gyle Coolick said De Jesus had been assistant manager since November 2007. “We are agonizing for her safe return,” Coolick said.
Miller said single women driving impressive new cars — such as De Jesus’ Cadillac — sometimes become targets.
“I don’t believe this was just random,” he said of the kidnapping. “I would anticipate he’d seen her over a few days or few weeks.”
I was reading through many articles regarding this abduction..it seems she came into some inheritance with the death of her husband so that may be a motive. And the co-worker taking 2 hours to report this??? Somethings fishy here.....

Texas Equusearch is a volunteer search as far as I know. I may be wrong. The police however have an obligation to keep searching.

WTF? Did she go help a few customers before calling? I would say this is far beyonf a "different" reaction. I can't even imagine waiting 10 minutes. They must have threatened her in some way... although I can't see myself paying any attention to that. But, then again, I guess I'd have to be there. 2 hours?? still seems a long time.

Brazoria County authorities said today the abduction of Susana De Jesus from a Pearland-area parking lot on Monday night may not have been a random crime.
``She may have known or been aware of what was happening,'' Capt. Chris Kincheloe told a news conference, adding that she was taken against her will.
He did not elaborate on a motive but said, ``We are still trying to find a living breathing person.
``I'm very optimistic we can find her,'' he said.
Kincheloe said he based his statements on the abduction on background checks of the victim and people associated with her.
He would not elaborate because the investigation is continuing.
Asked if authorities had a profile of the suspect, he replied, ``He's mean as hell.''
Investigators released part of a 911 call Thursday that alerted them to the gunpoint abduction of the woman, an account that indicated she briefly spoke with a co-worker as the kidnapping unfolded.
De Jesus left the parking lot, she rolled down the window of her car and asked the co-worker something, according to the recording of the 911 call. Investigators haven’t said what that question was.

I wonder what the question was that she asked the co-worker!!! And of course I still am wondering why the co-worker waited two hours to call 911....
Just my luck sucks

I'm sure the Anthony case had much to do with Tim's weaken bottom line—they (George, Cindy, Casey & Lee)should be ordered to pay restitution to TES, and the City/County for wasting valuable resources.

This is turning really strange, theres definately more to this than they're letting out. I just listened to the 911 call. It was made by the son of the witness. He lives in CANADA!! So this witness..her "friend" and co-worker called her son in Canada after 2 hours and had a conference call with the 911 operator. The son told the 911 operator that Susana had been nervous all day and after the abductor got her into the car, she rolled down the window and told her friend something and that's all the 911 call gives you. So I went onto some of the "comments" section and got this:"if you listen to the 911 tape, which was posted last night (not sure if it still is), it says she talked all day of how men were asking her pastor if she was married or divorced and details of her life. Also talked of her husband's death last year. Someone was out to get her specifically, or they would have had both women get in the car..." (I got this one from the chron.com link above) I really hope this turns out alright, but unfortunately, it's not looking good at all.

I thought I had read or heard somewhere that the son was calling from Canada.
They have offered a $15,000 reward

Yeah, it seems his mom is Susanas co-worker. Looks like the mom called her son up in Cananda and he called authorities to report the abduction via a conference call with his mom. Unfortunately there are absolutely NO UPDATES on this case yet. Everything on this forum is all that seems to be available.

Guilly Puente said when she got a cell phone call from her sister the night of Feb. 2, she had no suspicion the woman had been kidnapped by an armed masked man a half-hour earlier.
“She just said that she was taking someone home and would be late,” Puente said Thursday.
De Jesus didn’t seem strange or upset during her short call, Puente said in an interview.
That call came at 9:55 p.m. A woman who worked with De Jesus at Catherines Plus Sizes near Pearland said she saw a masked man with a silver pistol order De Jesus into her 2008 Cadillac about 9:30 p.m. and drive away. A dark van or SUV followed the Cadillac out of the parking lot.
But Puente didn’t know that when she got the call from her sister.
Another call, made at 10:05 p.m. from somewhere in the Astrodome area to a family friend, caused more concern. De Jesus asked the friend if the OnStar device in her car could locate her even though she hadn’t paid the OnStar subscription.
Meanwhile, as the car made an odyssey from one side of Houston to another and back again, investigators were hampered from getting a quick start on the search for the 37-year-old clothing store assistant manager.
The crime wasn’t reported until about 11:30 p.m. when the frightened co-worker reported that a woman she knew only as “Susie” had been abducted.
Only after the family friend made a report after 2 a.m. of the strange phone call, did Brazoria investigators know De Jesus’ full name.
Investigators later learned that the car stopped about 10:30 p.m. at a bank’s ATM at 3636 Old Spanish Trail.
OnStar started tracking the car about 2:40 a.m. It was on Texas 225 heading toward Houston from the LaPorte area, Brazoria County Capt. Chris Kincheloe said. It followed Beltway 8 access roads to travel to south Houston.
About 3:30 a.m. the car was at a Whataburger drive-through on Belfort and later stopped at 6363 West Airport. Puente said. The friend went to that site and at 7:02 a.m. saw a black man getting out of the car, she said. Puente had no other description. The friend called 911, and Houston police arrived about 20 minutes later, she said.http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/6296390.html

The Brazoria County Sheriff's Office released additional pictures of the suspect taken the night De Jesus disappeared. The photos show a man in a drive-through window at a Whataburger restaurant on West Bellfort at 3:40 a.m.
"What you see is what you get. It's either an African-American or dark-complected Hispanic male. He's wearing a red T-shirt," said Capt. Chris Kincheloe with the Brazoria County Sheriff's Department.
Investigators said the pictures were taken from a surveillance camera and enhanced by NASA.
The man was driving De Jesus' vehicle, but she does not appear to be inside.
Detectives said the man wore gloves to perhaps cover up a distinctive tattoo or watch. He was also right-handed.
Despite having few leads, investigators said they remain optimistic that De Jesus is still alive.
"We have no reason to believe that she's not alive. Our goal is to locate her and to return her to her family," Kincheloe said.
A reward in the case has been increased to $27,500.http://www.click2houston.com/mostpopular/18779179/detail.html#-
