Russell J. Wozniak Jr., 25, and Jennifer Ann Schick, 23, also known as Jennifer Wozniak, were charged with two counts of second degree reckless endangerment and two counts of child neglect. Russell Wozniak was also charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
On Wednesday, Jan. 21 a woman reported that while preparing to take her own son to school at about 7:30 a.m., she found an approximately 2-year-old girl walking down Harding Street wearing a one-piece pink pajama. The high temperature for the day was 21 degrees.
The bottom half of the child’s clothing was wet and her diaper very full. Her face and hands were covered with what appeared to be vomit.
The woman brought the child inside and contacted police.
An officer followed tracks back to 604 Harding Street, where Russell Wozniak was awakened at 7:40 a.m. and found his daughter was indeed missing. He guessed the child had walked out after the mother left the door unlocked after going to work.
The officer was allowed access to the residence and found large amounts of garbage strewn about along with medication, knives, rotting food, feces and illegal drugs.
Another child was also present and Russell Wozniak said they were twins.
In the children’s bedroom the officer found medication in blister packs and cough drops in a child’s crib. The medication was identified as Jennifer Schick’s birth control medication. (odd place to keep that stuff)
The children had smeared their own feces on the wall of their bedroom and there was feces on pillows and on stuffed toys.
The officer reported a large amount of dog feces on the kitchen floor, dirty dishes all over, rotting food on the floor, water in the sink with a layer of scum on top.
The Department of Human Services was contacted and took custody of the children.http://www.chippewa.com/articles/2009/01/29/news/doc4981d9412cef0022996785.txt
