Christina Benjamin, 25, seems to think that infants do not need medical attention right away, no matter how bad their injuries are. She apparently didn't want to make any rash decisions until she had a chance to discuss the situation with the infant's father, Scott Archbold, 41. She let the baby suffer for two whole days before she even brought it up to Archbold and waited for him to admit what was wrong before she brought her daughter to the emergency room.

On Wednesday night, Christina's mother was changing the 5-month-old's diaper when she noticed her leg was bruised and swollen. She mentioned the injury to Christina Benjamin and thought she was taking her to a doctor to check out that leg, but Christina instead took the child home.

Two days passed before Christina mentioned what her mother had seen to the child's father. Archbold just said that the baby may have also suffered some facial injuries. Oh, well in that case, Christina decided to take the child to the hospital. All I need to ask is What.. The.. Fuck? Are facial injuries more important than the swelling from a leg injury? Or is Archbold some sort of doctor and she needed his opinion first? I don't understand the point of waiting Christina, your baby needed you and you failed her.

Long Island Jewish Medical Center admitted the 5-month-old child to the hospital's pediatric intensive care unit due to the fractures in the baby's ribs, clavicle, and legs. They also may have found evidence that this isn't the first time she has been abused, either. Police issued a statement that they weren't sure if the baby was going to survive.

Because of Christina Benjamin sitting on her ass and not getting medical attention for her daughter, she has been charged with child endangerment. Scott Archbold has been charged with felony assault for the injuries the baby received. Police aren't sure how he hurt the baby, but they do know he was the one responsible for her injuries.

Police say they have charged the girl's father, Scott Archbold, 41, with causing the injuries including multiple bone fractures, internal bleeding and signs of prior abuse. Christina Benjamin, the infant's mother, has been charged with child endangerment for allegedly failing to get the child medical attention after the infant's grandmother suspected the abuse.

Apparently the grandmother noticed bruises on the infant's leg when she was changing her diaper in Jamaica, Queens on Wednesday night. According to police, she told the infant's mother, who apparently ignored advice to bring the baby to a doctor's office and instead brought her home. When Benjamin asked Archbold several days later about the bruises, police say he told Benjamin the baby "may have suffered some facial injuries."

Police say that Benjamin eventually brought the baby to the pediatric intensive care unit at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park. Medical Center doctors discovered injuries to the girl's legs, ribs and clavicle, according to police. Doctors said the baby also showed signs of previous abuse, including broken bones mending.

The couple was arrested early Saturday morning.

A Valley Stream man accused of seriously injuring his 5-month-old daughter will be held without bail and is forbidden from having contact with the infant, who is in critical condition at a Nassau hospital, a District Court judge ruled Sunday.

Scott Archbold, 41, of Broadway, was charged Saturday with felony assault for inflicting the injuries and is due back in court Feb. 4.

The child's mother, Christina Benjamin, who is accused of taking too long to seek medical help for the child, was ordered held on $25,000 cash bail and also forbidden from contact with the infant, who is in the care of Benjamin's mother. Benjamin, 25, is due back in court Feb. 4 for a charge of child endangerment.

Archbold and Benjamin both pleaded not guilty to the charges Sunday at District Court in Hempstead.

The infant sustained internal bleeding, broken arms and legs and 12 broken ribs and is receiving care at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, police and court officials said.

In District Court in Hempstead Sunday, Legal Aid attorney Justin Feinman asked Judge Gary Knobel to release Benjamin because the case is "her first encounter with the criminal justice system." But Assistant District Attorney Edward Bradley described Benjamin as a "flight risk," and asked for $25,000 bail.

Smith said the father is not employed and the mother is an office worker for Cablevision.

Both suspects are being held at Nassau County Jail in East Meadow, police said.

Sickens me to no end. This poor baby was in terrible agony, how could they just ignore her cries. I bet she was beat more as she cried from her injuries.... sigh...kisses sweet one. And I'm sorry, her mother shouldn't have let her leave with the baby...I would have taken the baby to the hospital myself as I dragged my daughter by her hair!
