Jonathan Brown, 41, was raping the woman when William and Nicholas Burckhard pulled him off her and called police.
They held Brown until Delray Beach police officers arrived and took him into custody.
Police think Brown followed the woman into a breezeway beside the Target store at about 10 a.m.
Brown threw her on the ground and started raping her, police said.
The Burckhards both work for Ocean Properties, a hotel and property management company, which declined interview requests. The company said it was proud of its employees for rescuing the woman.
Brown has been in and out of prison in Florida on charges of robbery, burglary, auto theft and aggravated assault.
He served two sentences for escape in 1984 and was last incarcerated until October 2006, according to state corrections records.
